OSAT Spring Flowers Blog Hop

OSAT Header

Hello my peeps and a very happy Thursday to you! Today I’m participating in a blog hop with a bunch of my friends from one of the Facebook groups that I belong to. It’s called One Stamp at a Time Cards and More. The focus this month is on Spring! Who couldn’t use a little Spring?! I know that I’m all about the flowers and bright colors lately trying to hurry it along! If you have arrived here from Martie Hillyer’s blog, welcome! Didn’t she have some fun projects?! I have a card and a 3D project for you today!

First up is the card. I have been really enjoying watercoloring lately so I had to do another floral watercolor card. My card base is Naturals White Card Stock. All of the images are from the Forever Florals Stamp Set. I heat embossed the Lavender on my Watercolor Paper background with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and painted it with Blackberry Bliss Ink. The rest of the flowers are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Watercolor Paper also. I used Hello Honey and Strawberry Slush Ink to paint the other flowers. They are cut out with Paper Snips and adhered to the card SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Ellen Hutson Zipper Panel Designer Die and is cut out from a piece of Blackberry Bliss. I used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere it to the card. The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and also adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. I adhered a piece of craft foam behind the Watercolor panel and then adhered it to the card base. I really do love the look of the white heat embossing with the watercoloring, so soft and subtle and the sequins add just the right amount of bling!

My 3D project uses two of the new Bigz Dies from the 2015 Occasions Catalog. The basket is created from White Coaster Board and cut out with the Berry Basket Bigz L Die. I used some Kraft Card Stock for the scallop and it’s held together with staples from the Handheld Stapler. For the grass I used the Fringe Scissors and some Garden Green. The large poppy is cut out from Real Red and Basic Black with the Bouquet Bigz L Die. I put it together with hot glue and then placed it in the basket. For little extra I cut out a piece of Whisper White with the Handpicked Framelits and stamped the greeting from the From the Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the flower on Real Red with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The bow is a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper also cut out with the Handpicked Framelits. On the front of the basket is a butterfly cut out from a piece of Hello Honey with the Butterfly Framelits and held on to the basket with a Mini Metallic Clothes Pin. I think that this would make a fun centerpiece for any table!

  1. Good Morning Justin and WOW! Gorgeous projects today. I absolutely love your watercolored card…so pretty! With the sequins too, I love it! And your basket is divine and I agree, would make a nice centerpiece on a table. Happy Spring is right! 🙂 Back to the card…I can’t believe (well, actually I can!) that you fussy-cut all those flowers. Very labor-intensive but absolutely one of your best creations…ever! Have a wonderful day!

    1. Hi Karen!
Thank you very much! I have a lot of fun with the watercolor cards! The basket was fun to make too, first time I got to use the die! Yes, I am a little crazy with the fussy cutting! LOL! It does make a big difference! So glad that you like it! Hope your day was great! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin!

  5. Good Morning Justin- really fantastic! The card is simply gorgeous!
I would love to have a centerpiece basket like this – it reminds me of the beautiful May Day baskets my mother would give us back in the 50’s !

  6. Absolutely GORGEOUS card Justin…..you have outdone yourself with this one! Bravo! Thanks for sharing….love to see your talent. Inky huggs, Shel Anderson

PS I WANT THIS CARD…. Hugs!

    1. Woo hoo! Thank you very much Eva! Sorry, I’m keeping the card and the basket is already on the table! Loves ya too! 🙂

  8. Oh my Justin – this card just took my breath away. I find I am really drawn to your cascading technique be it flowers or feathers. It’s an absolutely magnificent technique for creating amazing cards. Just plain awesome!

The basket looks like it would be fun to make. You should consider that for a class. I know I would love to join a group to make one of those for a centerpiece or even to use as a favor at a gathering like a baby shower or birthday.

Yesterday was a tease here. Today we are back to 29 degrees with high winds creating a pretty low wind chill factor. It was almost easier to just stay in the cold than go without a coat one day and have to put on the thermals again. LOL I hope it’s warmer on Long Island than it is here for your sake.

Today will be spent grocery shopping, cooking, visiting with a friend and then trying to decide on a favor to make for my daughter’s 50th birthday party. I think I want to do a breast cancer theme that shows the glory of being a survivor and how every birthday should be a celebration of life.

    1. Rock on Grace!! Your daughter is one strong woman!! I’m so glad that she has you too, we stand tough together! 😉

      1. Thank you Jill – She was diagnosed at 45 and continued working and teaching dance throughout her chemo, radiation and radical mastectomy. She is my hero and every day I am thankful to still have her.

    2. Thank you so much Grace!! I do love when I get to wow you! My cards are almost as awesome as you are!
I should do the basket as a class, that’s a good idea! I wonder what else I could put in it?!
It was windy and colder here today too. But it was good while it lasted and it will be back!
I think that your theme would be a great idea for the party! I completely agree that every birthday should be a celebration of life!! I try to celebrate it every day! XOXO 🙂

  9. beautiful card, I love the watercoloring on your flowers. The berry basket is so cute I love it, the die is calling me, just don’t know if I would use it enough to justify the purchase (Canadian $) Have a great day and think spring!

    1. Thank you Lynne! I am having so much fun watercoloring! I haven’t used the basket enough but I will, I know I will! LOL! Hope that your day was great! 🙂

  11. Can you say “Beautiful Cards”? I can’t tell you how impressed I was with all of these cards in your Blog Hop. Your card is really beautiful and I had to look at the catalog as I didn’t know the set was in there. You brought out the true colors of spring and summer. I hope Mother Nature takes your lead and brings spring to all of us.
    Thanks for brightening my day!

    1. Thank you so much Sharon! I’m so happy that you enjoyed all of the projects! I love that floral set and I think that it’s often overlooked but it’s great to color in! I hope that Mother Nature gets with the program too! I’m happy that I got to brighten your day! 🙂

  12. Hey Justin, wow you’ve been busy!! I absolutely love that pretty card, I can’t get over your clever placement of just a few sequins, they always add the perfect touch! I would love to see this Stampin Galley of yours – there must be more products in there than a shop!! Sounds like an awesome place to hang out 😉 Friday morning here, weekend is not too far away! Cheers Justin xoxo 😀

    1. Hi Kelly!
I’m always busy! LOL! I think that a few sequins make a bug difference! I will take pictures of the Stampin’ Galley when it is a bit cleaner! I do have a lot of fun in there and spend quite a bit of time in there too! Hope that you enjoyed your Friday, I’m ready for mine! XOXO 🙂

Hopefully Spring is on it’s way, it was cooler here today, I guess it was much cooler up North though. Sending y’all some warm breezes 😉

      1. I’m using the leaf blower, had to quit it got dark and didn’t want my neighbors to get mad. Are they there yet? 😉

    1. Thank you Jill! Glad that you enjoyed both of the projects! I made the flower and then thought… hmm… I wonder how it would look in the basket! I hope that Spring is on it’s way, it seems to be trying! Thanks for the warmth! 🙂
