Pals Paper Arts 245

I’m a little early for a Saturday! That’s because I’m off to Allentown, PA today with my friend Sue to go to the Heirloom Productions Rubber Stamp and Paper Arts Festival. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the crafty goodness that will be there! I will have a full report tomorrow and hopefully lots of pictures! Yesterday was a pretty quiet day. Little Daniel was at my parent’s when I got there after work and he was his usual mischievous self! Yesterday’s big attraction was the vertical blinds and how much noise he could make with them! Even when he is being a little terror he is still pretty cute! He got a new haircut too, here it is!

When I came home I retreated to the Stampin’ Galley and completely got lost in there! It was 10:30 before I knew it! I have to say that I do enjoy when I can just sit and create and not think about anything else! What are your plans for the weekend?!

Today’s card that I have for you is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 245

I wanted to do some inking, haven’t done that in a while! The card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. I used a piece of paper from the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. Can you believe that Sale-A-Bration is almost over?!?! If there are any products that you haven’t gotten and still want you have a few more days! I took my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Night of Navy Ink to cover most of the paper. I then used a little of the Encore Gold Metallic to fill in where there were some lighter spots. My stars are a die from the Circle Card Thinlits and are cut out from the DSP. A piece of Vellum is wrapped around the top portion of the paper and then some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Whishing Die to cut out some more Brushed Gold twice and adhered them together and then to the Vellum with Multi-Purpose Glue. I tried to take a close up of the gold in with the blue, it’s a little blurry but I wish that you could see it in person, it looks so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Thanks so much for coming by to visit! If any of you are going to be at the show let me know! Have a super Saturday! 🙂

  1. Awwwwwwwww, Justin, he is adorable! What a cheeky look on his face, he looks like a lot of fun 🙂 Cool card for today, I love the gold peeking through the stars, and the embossed vellum looks awesome as usual! I actually spent most of my Saturday stamping – I made 3 cards! I used the feathers and the stitched rectangles for the first time, the vellum will have to wait for another day! It was a day well spent. Now we are watching Forrest Gump for the 12th time – it never gets old!! Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the festival today, travel safe 🙂 Cheers Justin xoxo

    1. Thanks Kelly! He really is a little charmer! Glad that you like the card too! I do love those inky backgrounds! Sounds like you had a really nice crafty day! Do you know I have never seen Forest Gump?! Well, I have seen parts of it but not all of it! I had a really nice time yesterday! XOXO 🙂

  2. Your nephew is just adorable!!
Love the “star card”! The stars are my favorite pattern of the Irresistably Yours dsp.
Have a great time in Allentown. I’m going there today too with some friends. Just love those stamp festivals…

    1. Justin, I was really thrilled to meet you today. You are as nice in person as you are in your blog. I could have talked to you for hours but I didn’t want to hold you up from shopping….lol. So much good stuff. The ‘Pan Pastels’ demos intrigued me. So I bought a couple of colors to try them out. Also, Rubbernecker had some really pretty bridal stamps. Since I am invited to 3 weddings over the next few months, they seemed like a good purchase.
Hope you enjoyed the stamp show.

      1. YES!! It was excellent to meet you today too! Thank you so much for coming over to me! I could have talked to you for hours too! Next time we get to meet we’ll have to sit down and have a coffee! There was a lot to take in and I did get some stuff, can’t wait to use it! I too saw the Pan Pastels, you will have to let me know what you think of them! Glad that you had a good time at the show too! 🙂

    2. Thanks Gerri, he’s is quite cute!
The stars are my favorite in the DSP too!
Allentown was fun and it was awesome to get to meet you!! 🙂

  3. Your nephew is a little doll- you captured a great smile.
The Stars DSP really is a fun pattern and makes a great background for a lot of occasions. Your card is really good looking.
Have fun in Allentown today. I am off to card club this morning- yea!

    1. Thank you Marty! He really is a lot of fun!
Glad that you enjoyed the card too!
The stamp show was lots of fun! Hope that you had a great day too! 🙂

  4. Your nephew is such a cutie pie….. love what you did with the navy and gold inks……. and I’m jealous that I can’t make it to Allentown. Can’t wait to hear your report on that.

  5. Hi Justin:

Daniel gets cuter every time you share a photo. I bet your parents really enjoyed the “tune” he was playing for them with the vertical blinds. LOL

Gorgeous, gorgeous card today Justin. I love blue and gold and I need to remember that I can punch out a shape on a card and mount it on a colored base. That is the opposite of what I usually do. I ten to punch out a shape and mount it but the negative image look great also. I”ll have to start saving some of that punched card stock for secondary cards.

I hope you get to meet a bunch of your followers in Allentown today. Wish it wasn’t so far away. We haven’t had a stamp show here in Maine since 2001 or 2002, I can’t remember which. I did get to go once and really had a great time. I know they have a huge show in Massachusetts at the Big E fairgrounds every year but that is also about a 4 hour drive from here. So, as a result, I command you to have enough fun for both of us! I can’t wait to see your photos tomorrow. Hugs from a jealous follower! LOL 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Thanks! He is such a great little person! He just wouldn’t stop with the blinds! So funny!
Thank you! I too love the colors together! I like the look of the negative punches, especially popped up!
I did get to see some of my blog peeps, it was great! It took us about 2 hours to get there, not too bad and I did have a good time! My friend Sue goes to the one in Massachusetts and stays overnight. Hugs to you my friend! 🙂

  6. Thank you all for your warm wishes! Stitches come out Wednesday. Then maybe back to stamping! Justin, you never cease to teach me about the products I have right in front of me, like those thinlit stars. Another gorgeous card! Love and hugs to Daniel. Is that a tablet in his hands? Just like his uncle! Have a great time in A-town — lots of photos! (one hand typing is exhausting!) Love, Nancy B

    1. You’re welcome Nancy! It sounds like it went well which is good! Thank you! I do like to do something different! Yes, that is a tablet in Daniel’s hands, he is quite good with it too! Allentown was fun! Thank you again so much for taking the time to comment! I do appreciate hearing from you! Love to you!! XO 🙂

  7. Hi Justin! Oh my—that little Daniel is just too cute! Sounds like a super-fun day for you today! Have a blast! We are going to a dinner theatre tonight to see the Wizard of Oz. Should be a lot of fun! And tomorrow we are off to see our new puppy! We’ll be getting her mid-April! Can’t wait! Love your card for today! All those stars! Love those. And there you go again with another must-have die! Adding it to my ever-growing wish list! I know you’re having a blast at the show…can’t wait to hear all about it! 😉

    1. Hello Karen!
Yes, he is quite the charmer! Yesterday was great! The car ride was nice and the weather was cold but not too bad. I hope that you enjoyed your trip to the theater! Sounds like a good time! You are getting a new puppy?!?! Thats’ great! Thanks! I did have fun with the inking! I you only knew how big my list is! LOL! 🙂

      1. Hi again Justin! Yes!!! A new puppy will soon be in the house! We cannot wait. We lost our other one about 4 yrs ago so it’s time! She’s a little Bichon and is just adorable (if I do say so myself!) 😉

        1. That’s so great Karen! I’m sure that you are going to give her lots of love and spoil her! I’ll bet that she is a cutie! 🙂

  8. Daniel is adorable! I love your updates on Daniel, photos and current mischief. Oh, and your card is pretty fantastic too! 🙂

    1. Thank you very much Dana! He is a lot of fun! Glad that you like the card too! 🙂

  9. too cute! Daniel that is, lol. Love this card, i love distressing with inks and creating fun things, Tim Holtz is a great inspiration but also a costly addiction. Have fun at the stamp show, i wish we had a big one here, I went to t small one in Rpckford last year, very small but i still did damage. i love seeing vendors that are new they usually have unique things, share photos. zoff for a day of Scrapbooking with my BFF, hope i get half of what i’m bringing done

    1. Yes Linda, he’s a sweet little boy! Thank you! Everything is a costly addition! LOL! The stamp show was great! It wasn’t too big but I too did some damage! LOL! It’s nice to see vendors that I don’t know about! I hope that you had a fun and productive day scrapping! 🙂

  10. Oh my goodness, Daniel is such a cutie!! Is he about 2 1/2? My littlest one is 4 and I kinda miss those days. Well, sometimes, lol! She just gets into bigger stuff now and if you tell her no, she just looks at you and smiles and keeps doing it or tells me to close my eyes!! Funny girl (**she said wryly)

I am so in love with the Irresistibly Yours DSP!! I like your technique to add the color to it, with the gold accents, looks just like the night sky…. Wishing on a star, hmmm which to wish on?? 😉

    1. Thanks Jill! Nope, Daniel is 16 months old! I’m glad that I get to spend time with him, he’ll be big before you know it! That is too funny that she tells you to close your eyes!
I too like that DSP! I did manage to hoard some of it! 🙂

  11. Such a darling young man! Your card is fabulous! Brushed gold and Night of Navy is a gorgeous combination. Thanks for playing along with us this week at PPA.
