Paper Craft Crew 134

Yesterday started out pleasant enough, it was nice and sunny on the way to work. It started to get a little overcast and then around 3:30 it stared snowing… again! We got about 2 inches before it turned to rain. A nice slushy mess! I did go over to Brian and Kim’s for taco night with Heather and Taylor came along too. Always a very good time! This morning’s ride to the office should be fun! It will be like driving in a giant slushy!

I have been on a bit of a yellow and gray kick lately and my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch is continues on with the trend! Here is the sketch for this week…

PCCCS134 DT Sketch 3-04-2015

This card uses some of my favorites! The base is Whisper White Card Stock. The left side of my background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and on the right is a piece of Smoky Slate that I stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. My greeting is from the Adventure Awaits Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on some Basic Gray. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Banner Punch to punch out another piece of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper and adhered that with another Stampin’ Dimensionals in the upper right of the greeting panel. Down in the lower left are three flowers from the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set, they are stamped in Crushed Curry and punched out with the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. A few of the Simon Says Stamp Moonshine Sequins on the flowers and by the greeting and the card is done! I really do love that Adventure Awaits Photopolymer Stamp Set, I have used it a lot more than I thought I would. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Make sure to stop by the blog and see the rest of the Design Team’s projects and enter yours in the gallery. Thanks so very much for your visit, have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  1. I really like this card- this is the first I have seen of this pictogram stamp set- how cute is this set? Great colors too!
I heard that it is going to warm up for all of you in the northeast this weekend- hang in there Justin.

    1. Thank you very much Marty! The Pictogram Punches Set has some really nice images in it and I love the gray and yellow together!
I hear the same thing Marty, fingers crossed! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! I LOVE your card!! I think yellow and gray are one of the best color combo’s ever! You can make it more masculine or feminine too. I love the little smattering of sequins too! I need to dig out my embossing powder more often! Your tacos sound de-lish. I should make those for dinner one of these nights, haven’t had them in a while. Seems like we always go out to eat for mexican food. I can’t seem to get the hang of making a margarita at home, they always taste better in a restaurant! 😉 Your little prop today is just darling. Love that! Have an awesome day Justin!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks very much! I too love the yellow and gray together! I think that if you nixed the flowers it would be a nice masculine card! You know me and my sequins! LOL! I heat emboss almost everything, but you know that! Tacos with the peeps are always delish! I like to go out for Mexican but it’s hard to mess up tacos and you out on so many fixings! Margaritas, you just need to practice! That would be fun! I like the little candle jar too! I had a nice day, hope that you did too! 🙂

  3. Justin,
    Great card!! Great sketch!!!
I love how you used this sentiment. I was never really interested in this stamp set… until now. Thanks Justin….lol.

  4. Hello Justin:

I really love any shade of gray with any shade of yellow. Believe it or not those were a popular color combination for home decorating when I was in high school. Of course that was centuries ago but heck, it was a wonderful combination no matter when it was. I think it’s soothing. I use the Pictogram set a lot more than I ever thought I would. It really is pretty versatile. My favorite stamp in it is the vase with flowers and, of course, that wood grain stamp can be used successfully on any type card from Christmas to Easter to Masculine or Feminine, to I miss you and sympathy. I”ve even used it with new baby cards. Your card is just beautiful and thank you for sharing.

Hopefully by the time you leave work all the nasty slurppy stuff will have melted. You have yourself a wondrous Wednesday and enjoy this evening. Hump day is here! LOL Hugs to you my friend. XO

    1. Hi Grace!
Yes, me too! I find the colors soothing yet fun! I know that they were a popular decorating scheme, it’s coming back! I like all the little pieces in that Pictogram Punches Set! You know how I feel about that Hardwood Background Stamp!!
The slurpy stuff was gone quite early, it got up to 45 here today. We are to have 4-8 inches of snow starting tonight though, a short lived reprieve but appreciated non the less! Hope that you had a fabulous day my friend! Hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  5. I love the grey and yellow together, great card, BUT what really caught my eye was the mason jar candle, so rustic, I need to have 3 or 5 of these in various heights! lol Hope the slush melts quickly for you 😉

  6. I totally agree with Grace about the grey and yellow combo, it really is soothing. Very classy too. Your card is so awesome! I like your funny play on the the “fresh” of the sentiment by using beautiful flowers right underneath 😉 My favorite is the sequins in the middle of the flowers! Ok, I just didn’t think of that and it’s perfect for mailing and still adds a bling factor!

Stay safe with all the slush! We used to have a convertible and we loved to put the top down. We’d put it down in the middle of winter, as long as it was sunny, and crank the heat up full blast 😉 Hey as long as your in the front, the wind wasn’t too bad, lol!

    1. Thank you Jill! I do like the colors together! See, you did make the connection to the flowers! Yay! I think that the sequins are so much more fun the Rhinestones theses days and I have so many packs of them too!
The slush went away early which was nice! I do the top down with the heat on too! I feel bad for the folks in the back but I usually give them a blanket! LOL! 🙂

  7. I thik is is amazing how one never really sees every stam[p in a set. I have seen this set a hundred times and passed by it, never appealed to me. But I swear I never noticed that particular stamp. And i could see a couple of uses for it. Great card, love the color combo, reminds me of chalkboard, and I love anything chalkboard

    1. I agree Linda! I try to remember everything that I have, sometimes they stand out and others I forget about for a while and then suddenly it hits me! I try to look at the whole sets in the catalog, well, I usually get them all! LOL! I think that it looks a bit “chalkboard” too! Glad I wasn’t the only one! 🙂

  8. Love this card!!!! Thank you again for sharing. Where did you get the little mason jar holder. Love that too.
