SUO Challenges 119

That’s Sue and I, we are heading to Allentown, PA on Saturday for a stamp show!

SAL Me & Taylor

And there I am with the best daughter in the whole world!! She is also a great helper!

Tonight I’m off to the movies with Andrew to see Insurgent! Really looking forward to that!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Fun Folds challenge. My card isn’t a traditional “fun fold” but it’s not your usual card either. I used a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe and the Circle Card Thinlits to make my base. The flower is that amazing Lotus Blossom from the Lotus Blossom Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped in Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe. I cut it out with my Paper Snips and adhered it to a piece of Brushed Gold that is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits and then adhered to the card. I made my belly band from a piece of Calypso Coral. The “thanks” is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I punched out another piece of Brushed Gold with the 3/4″ Circle Punch to back the butterfly that is from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Butterfly Thinlits and adhered it to the circle and the band with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting on the inside is from the Lotus Blossom Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral. I used the 2″ Circle Punch to punch it out. A very simple but I think quite elegant card! I hope that you like my card for the SUO Challenges Fun Folds challenge. Go on over to the blog and take a look at what the rest of the Design Team has come up with! Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to come by and see me! Have a totally terrific Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Michael! The Thinlits cards need a little something to help keep them closed! Yes, I do believe that you know that “chick” Sue! LOL!

  1. Hi Justin- great card- time for me to break out my circle card thinlet- I haven’t used it for a while. Love the colors.

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you! Yes, my Circle Card Thinlits were feeling a bit neglected too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Justin:

First of all, I love your sweater! Secondly Taylor is so cute! Love that you share photos from your classes. Wish I lived close enough to attend. It looks like everyone is having so much fun.

Now, you need to teach us how you made that flip fold card using the circle dies. I’ve been concentrating on how that can be done with absolutely no success whatsoever.LOL I now have a pile of cut circles and a pile of trifold cards with a hole in them! LOL It’s been really funny to attempt to make one and the Hubs thinks I’ve lost it because he can hear me laughing in the craft room but I won’t tell him what’s so funny. Great way to start the day for sure. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine.

Thanks for all you do for us Justin. You make me smile every day and that is such a wonderful gift. Have yourself a tremendous Tuesday! Love and hugs – XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Grace,
I’ll try to save you some paper! Justin forgot to add the Circle Card Framelits. It’s a bigger die that cuts and scores the card stock for you. I pasted a link for you to see it, it wouldn’t let me post a pic. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Just wanted you to know, good your laughing, I’d be saying bad, bad words ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Thanks Jill – I thought Justin said he used the circle framelits to cut the circle. I’ll check out the website you gave me. Yup – I did cut a lot of paper with the circle punch trying to make that card but it’s O.K. I’ll find use for it. Waste not want not eh? LOL Thanks again…………this should be interesting. Grace

    2. Hello Grace!
i have had that sweater forever and it’s one of my faves too! Taylor is awesome! I’m very lucky to have such a wonderful daughter! The classes are great fun and I too wish that you were close enough to attend them!
I guess that I forgot to out that I used the Circle Card Thinlits!! I’m so sorry!! I’m so happy that you were laughing! Laughter is the best for any situation! LOL!
You are welcome my friend! And thank you for commenting all the time! You too make my days much brighter!! Love and hugs to you too! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Great card, Justin. Best one I’ve seen with the Lotus Blossom. Love those colors. If I’m ever there, I’m going to come n stamp with u guys. It looks like so much fun. I’m on vacation so I had to go out n buy card stuff yesterday to get my fix. Thought I could go a few days w/o it. NOT! U make us smile

    1. Thank you so much Georgie! That would be so much fun to stamp with you!! I find it hard to be without my crafty stuff! I know just what you mean! You make me smile too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin. Love your card & I love seeing all of your other cards you make. (I visit your blog frequently) I really like your butterfly card you posted a few days ago too with your “homemade” butterfly stamp cut out from fun foam. What a clever idea! I see you said you’ll be coming to Allentown, PA soon. Wow! I live not too far from there. I used to go to the Heirloom’s Rubber Stamp & Arts Festival at the Allentown Fairgrounds, but I haven’t been there the last couple of years. Honestly, I don’t need anymore stuff. Lol! I do stick to buying SU products though. Well, have a great day & have a wonderful time at stamp expo.

    1. Hello Penny!
Thank you so much! So happy to have you come by and see what I’m up to! I’m looking forward to going to the Stamp Show there! Too bad you still don’t go, would have been nice to say hello! Trust me, I don’t need any more stuff either!! LOL! Hope that your day was a good one! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Gorgeous picture of you and Taylor, I’d frame that! From the photos it looks like a great time was had by all.

Absolutly beautiful card, love the color choices and love how the lotus stamp fits right in the circle. Enjoy the movie. I took today off of work, I needed a mental day after the six inches of snow yesterday. Now I need to finish cleaning and get some play time in

    1. Thank you Linda! I love that picture of us and it will be framed!! The class was great fun as it always is!
Glad that you like the card too! The movie was great! Can’t wait for the last one! I hear you about the mental health day, I had one last Friday! Hope that you got a chance to play! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Oooh, love the belly band idea too Justin ๐Ÿ˜€ Those cards always pop open and drive me nuts, I spend a lot of time creasing the folds over and over again. I never thought about a belly band. What pretty happy colors you used today! I am not going to jinx you by saying the “S” word. Last time we thought that you ended up with more snow, lol! Awesome pictures of your class and nice to meet your daughter ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m still pretty new to your blog, so it’s nice to know who’s who ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Jill! The card needs something to keep it closed! The colors are SPRING! There I said it! I’m so ready for it! The class was loads of fun and I’m glad to get to introduce you to everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Hi there Justin! Love seeing the pics of the class—everyone looks like they’re having a good time! And such a nice photo of you and Taylor! A keeper for sure. That’s nice that she helps you out. Love your card! I’m especially loving the belly band around it! So cute. Enjoy the movie tonight!

    1. Hey Karen!
Yes, class is always a good time! I too love that picture of Taylor and me! Definitely going in a frame! Thank you! I really love the gold with the Cantaloupe and Coral! The movie was great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hey Justin, gorgeous card today! I love the colours, gold looks so good with calypso coral. I have the lotus set but haven’t used it yet, I might pinch your idea ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looks like you had fun at the card class, and what a great photo of you and your daughter!! Cute pickles yesterday too! Hope you enjoyed the movie, my daughter is desperate to see it. I got my lawn fawn stitched rectangles yesterday, can’t wait to play with them, I’ll have to wait til the weekend I think. Hope you have a great day Justin ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

    1. Hi there Kelly!
Thank you! Feel free to “pinch” my idea! Yes, I do know what that means! Card class was great and I do love the pic of Taylor and I! LOL! Glad that you enjoyed the pickles too! The movie was great! Yay! You are going to love the stitched rectangles! Hope that you had a great day too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Thanks *so* much for sharing your pix, Justin! That’s a *great* picture of you and Taylor!!! I think it’s so great that you and Taylor share a common interest/hobby.

Great flip-it card! The belly band is a great idea.

Have fun at the Stamp Show! I *love* Stamp Shows, and I *love* that you share designs that include a broad spectrum of stamp and die manufacturers, although I consider myself to be a loyal SU hobby demo.

    1. Welcome El! I love that Taylor are such good friends! She is the best daughter anyone could ask for!
Thank you! The flip cards need something to keep the closed!
The sam show was great and I can’t wait to got to the next one! I love Stampin’ Up! But there is so much other stuff out there and it’s so much fun to create with other products! ๐Ÿ™‚
