Can You Case It #64

Happy Easter! I will be going to my Parent’s today for dinner. My brother, Erika and Daniel along with Taylor will be there. It’s also Taylor’s birthday today!! Happy Birthday Taylor!! I will post her card tomorrow! Yesterday I had a very productive day craft wise. I got a bunch of projects finished and will finish the rest of them today. The only other thing that I did yesterday was went to lunch with Taylor. We ate fresh! LOL! I did speak with Andrea and Michael for a bit. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday!

In the sprit of the holiday I wanted to share with you what my friend Brian did to the walkway up to the front door to his house…

Brian Easter Path

Now that’s pretty cool! I think that he told Izzy and Savannah that it was so the Easter Bunny would be able to find the house quicker! LOL!

As promised here are my cards from the February class at Scrap-A-Latte. The featured company was Mama Elephant!

Today I’m over on the Can You Case It blog for our color challenge…

CYCI #64

I have a funny story about the card. I am a big fan of Dies By Dave over on Etsy. I love his dies and have a few and plan to get more. Andrea and I both got our rose dies yesterday, it’s the die that cuts out something similar to the panels that are included in the Artisan Embellishment Kit. We were on Skype yesterday and both made our cards using the die. My card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and I adhered a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to the front. Next up is a panel of Pistachio Pudding stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Pistachio Pudding. I adhered it slightly askew on top of the vellum. For my top layer I die cut some Basic Black with the Rose Die and then used some Ultra Thick Embossing Powder to give it the “licorice” look. It’s adhered to a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. My greeting and butterfly are both from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I wrapped the sentiment around the rose panel and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. the butterfly is punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and also adhered with a piece of Stampin’ Dimensional. I love that rose plate die and can see using it in many projects! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Can You Case It color challenge. Now head on over to the blog and check out what the rest of the design team has done and make a project of your own to share in the gallery! Thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to come and visit! Again, Happy Easter everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Another gorgeous card Justin! I have used your licorice technique and love it! I also took note of your mention of dies by Dave a week or two ago and just received my kind of eclectic die yesterday. I’ve been eyeing this roses die as well and you may have just pushed me over the edge with this card. I hope you enjoy a very happy Easter!

    1. Thank you Dana! I’m glad that you tried the “licorice” technique! Dies by Dave is great! I love that Roses die, so detailed and easy to use! I hope that you had a nice Easter too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Happy Easter, Justin! I didn’t know Taylor’s birthday was today, so is my David’s! Please wish her a happy birthday from me. Love your Mama Elephant cards and love what you did with that die cut panel on the last card. Very creative, but your fingertips must be melted from all that embossing ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great day!

    1. Happy Easter Sandy! Yup, she was 19 today! Where does the time go?! Happy birthday to David! I will tell give Taylor your birthday wishes! Thanks so much, the Mama Elephant class was fun! LOL! Yup, they definitely melted a little! LOL! Hope you had a wonderful day too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. And I love all those class cards – those who get to attend those classes are lucky!

    1. Yay! Thanks! I have so much fun creating them and then sharing them with all of the people that attend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Thanks for the lead to Dies by Dave! I had to get the die you showed – LOVE it and what you did with it!

  5. Hi Justin! Happy Easter! I love the walk way that Brian did! I’m sure the Easter Bunny had a big smile on his face when he hopped on by! So cute! Love your card today! I haven’t ordered any of those dies but I really need to. I love the glossy on this card! Those are some pretty cute cards you made at the February workshop…just darling! And a great big Happy Birthday to Taylor!! Enjoy your day!

    1. Hey Karen!
Happy Easter to you too! Brian is a really great guy! Glad that you enjoyed the cards today! I hope that you had a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Love the card Justin. Licorice technique…will have to try. Very very cool idea. Links still not working!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Michael! The licorice technique is neat! I think that Eva posted at 6:00am her time, seems to be working now, but thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Happy Easter Justin! Happy Birthday Taylor! Happy brick coloring Brian! LOL I love that Brian took the time and made the effort to color the walkway for Easter. What a great guy he must be. He should be glad he lives on Long Island instead of Maine because we woke up to snow this morning and his creation would have been ruined after all that work and, if my guess is right, pretty sore knees!

Justin, you do the most amazing cards at your classes. I see you even made a shaker card. One question – do you die cut the pieces for the cards before hand or does everyone die cut their own during the class? I ask because it seems your class accomplishes a lot for the short period of time involved versus the number of cards, or I should say fantastic cards, that you all create. I’m a bit envious of those ladies that actually get to attend.

I hope you and your family have a very Happy Easter together. I’m still getting here “through the back door” but it’s worth it. Love and hugs, ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Happy Easter to you Grace! Thanks, I’ll pass along your birthday wishes! LOL! Brian is such a great guy! He put bunny tracks in the driveway at 4:00am this morning! Great guy for sure!
Thank you so much Grace! Yes, I have a shaker card in every class! I have them do some of the die cutting, not all of it. We do get a lot done and everyone gets to move at their own pace. I wish that you lived closer!
We had a lovely day and hope that you did too! Love to you! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Beautiful! Love the Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. Still waiting for my dies from Dave…. hopefully soon. Happy Birthday to your daughter. Your creations for the card classes are beautiful,

I am SOOOO excited about seeing you use the DiesbyDave die!!!!!! It came out GORGEOUS!!! I got mine right before we left and I have not had a chance to use it. Oh how I wish I packed my stamp room and brought it all with us. The kids would have had to ride on the roof rack, but hey, I would be able to stamp and create!!!! WOW, outstanding Justin ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Yes, Brian did a great job with the walkway! He’s a great dad!

Your Birthday Card using the Rose Plate die is just gorgeous. I love the die and went to Etsy to try to buy it, but it wasn’t shown. Hope Dave makes more for sale. You did a great job with the Ultra Thick Embossing Powder! *So* pretty!

    Thanks so much for sharing!!!

    1. Yay! Thanks so much El! Yes, everyone enjoyed the cards! I wish that you could take the classes too!
Taylor did have a nice birthday! Yes, time really does fly!
I think that Dave had some issues but should be able to work through them! Love that embossing powder! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Hi –
I love this card and have used up all my rose cover plates in the Artisan Embellishment kit. I tried to look up Dies by Dave and can’t find him any longer. Do you know if he is out of business? I wonder if SU made him stop bc it was their original “look and feel”? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.
