Freshly Made Sketches 182

Yesterday turned out to be a nice day after all. It didn’t rain and actually made it up to 70 degrees! The sun was out and despite the wind it was actually warm. Work was pretty quiet, always a good thing. When I came home I Skyped with Andrea and we crafted together. I had to get a few cards made because I’m off to Scrap-A-Latte tonight to get things prepared for tomorrow night’s class. Taylor is going to tag a long and help so it should go pretty fast. I stopped by Heather’s for a cocktail last night. I had a whiskey sour and really liked it! I got home around 10:15 and took care of some stuff before heading off to bed. Another pretty good day!

One of the cards that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 182

A really neat sketch! My card for today has a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I ran a strip of the Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape down the left side. The panel is a piece of Smoky Slate that I stamped with the Something Lacy Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. A piece of Fun Foam is adhered behind the panel and then some SNAIL holds it all to the card. The greeting and wreath are from the Your Perfect Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the wreath on Vellum Card Stock with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then used my Paper Snips to cut it out. The greeting and leaves are also heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black. I adhered the wreath to the back of the greeting and then used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins complete the card. I love the simplicity of the card and the font in the greeting is just perfect! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Nothing brightens my day more than a visit from you so thanks! Have an awesome Thursday! 🙂

  1. Very pretty. I just used this background stamp at my April card class last week and everyone loved it.

  2. Very lovely card. Had to come over to read the details. Love the effect of the background stamp inked with Smoky Slate on same CS…. It almost looks like vellum! Have a great day.

    1. Thank you Louise! It’s a nice detailed stamp! Yes, it does look a bit like Vellum! Hope that you had a nice day! 🙂

  3. Justin are you telling me you cut out that wreath with those tiny leaves with paper snips? AND you did it after having a whiskey sour? Oh my – I am very, very impressed! I would have most likely snipped my fingers trying to cut that out. LOL

Such a luxurious looking card today. That background lace stamp really looks like lace and I just love the vellum. What an absolutely perfect wedding card. I’m sure the recipient would appreciate the fact that the card was not “store bought” but made especially for the new couple. Just wonderful.

Sunshine and less wind today. It’s so nice to look out and see the stone wall at the back of my property. It seems like it’s been covered in snow 4-ever! Wishing you a bright, sunshiny Thursday. Got the top down? Hugs, 🙂

    1. LOL! Yup Grace! I’m just that crazy! I cut it out before the Whiskey Sour! I don’t think that it would have been possible after it! LOL! I like the simplicity of the card and the font in that set is just great!
It was sunny here too! A little windy but not too bad. I agree, the winter did seem long but now it’s just a distant memory! Yes, I did have the top down and there will be a pic tomorrow! 🙂

  4. Awesome creation as usual. Love the background stamp, makes this card. Embossed the wreath and cut out with paper snips? You have way too much time on your hands. LOL

    1. Thanks very much Linda! I too like that stamp! Ha ha! The wreath actually didn’t take much time at all! I did it while I was on Skype with Andrea, she yelled at me that it looks like I used a die! LOL! 🙂

  5. This is such a cool background stamp! It looks great on the Smokey Slate too, for such a detailed stamp it really looks clean. I hope you know what I mean? 🙂 The vellum embossing and fussy cutting came out beautifully with this stamp set, Justin! You are an excellent fussy cutter!! Awesome sequin bling, adds the perfect pop for the finishing touch to your card 😀

We had a pretty cold day here today. Did you send your 50’s down South?? It should be warming up this weekend though. Everything is SUPER green here and the azaleas are going crazy . It seems like it happened overnight, lol!

    1. Yes Jill, the stamp is really nice and detailed! I do like to fussy cut, it’s relaxing! It’s a little tougher on Vellum but the effect is worth it!
Sorry that you were chilly today, but we have to share the weather sometimes! LOL! Everything is getting green and coming to life here too! Love it! 🙂

  6. Beautiful card Justin! I love that lace background! The embossed wreath and sentiment are beautiful! So perfect for a wedding! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
