Pals Paper Arts 247

Yay! It’s the weekend! I had another busy day at work yesterday, lots more running around! I did get a nice little treat, Andrew came and met me for lunch! We went to the pizza place and then he came back to the office to hang out for bit. Always nice to see Andrew! I came home and took my dad to get his truck from the repair shop, spoke to Michael for a bit and then Anthony and Bill came to get me so that we could run to Costco. I haven’t been there in a while, I always go to BJ’s so I picked up some stuff that I can’t get at BJ’s. We went to SmashBurger for dinner and it was quite tasty! On the way home we stopped at Starbucks and I got some coffee. When I came home I sat down and watched a movie and by the time that was done it was 12:00, time for bed!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 247

A sort of monochromatic look with all shades of purple! I have been dying to use a new set that I got from Altenew and as a bonusย they recently came out with dies for it too! Card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss out with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles for my background. My main panel is a piece of Whisper White that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles and adhered some fun foam to the back and then adhered the panel to the card. My roses and leaves are from the Altenew Sketched Roses Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped using the MISTI Tool in Perfect Plum, Blackberry Bliss and Elegant Eggplant. I used Pear Pizzaz for the leaves and then used the matching dies to cut them all out and adhered them to the card with SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Super Script Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I didn’t add anything else so as to not take away from the awesome font in the greeting and those pretty layered roses! The MISTI made stamping the roses with the multiple layers so quick and easy, love that tool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for your visit and I hope that you all have a simply wonderful Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. You are rockin’ my favorite colors…beautiful card…thanks for playing along with the Pals color challenge this week!

  2. Hi Justin,
Beautiful card. I love the font and size of the sentiment. You got one on meโ€ฆ. I never heard of Altenew. I thought I knew them all. I’ve see the Misti tool on blogs. How do you like it? Is it worth the money?
    Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Hello Gerri!
Thank you! Yes, that script writing is great! I do try to stay on top of all things crafty! Altenew is a great relatively new company not too far from me! The MISTI Tool is great! I use it a lot and love it! I hope that you are having a nice weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. To me this was a tough color challenge, but you pulled it off with a great looking card. I always enjoy your explanations. I have the same question as Gerri about the Misti. I have to check it out.

    1. Thanks HJ! Yes, it was a bit monochromatic but I had fun with it! The MISTI Is a great tool, I use it a lot more than I thought I would! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin! Another beautiful creation from you. Great font on the thanks! Sounds like you had a fun Friday. Have to say I’ve never heard of SmashBurger. Is it good? I love a good burger! Hope your Saturday is off to a great start! Oh–how are Daniel’s adventures going? Or maybe they are on their way back home already. Can’t wait to see some those pics of him at Disney! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks very much! Love the font, looks like really nice script! Friday was really nice! SmashBurger is new around here but really good! My Saturday was awesome! Daniel is having a great time, I saw a few pictures of him at Disney and they come home on Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Good Morning Justin:

That’s a very formal looking thank you card that you have created for today. I really like the font in the Thanks stamp. The purples and Pear Pizzaz really stand out on the whisper white card stock and they are absolutely the perfect marriage of colors. I’m glad you didn’t add anything else to this particular card because it is outstanding as is. I think anything more would have made it over done. It is beautiful to say the least!

I hope you have a Sensational Saturday and can’t wait to hear what kind of adventure (or misadventure) you end up on today. I swear, you lead the most interesting life!

I’d like to ask for some advice from you Justin if you don’t mind. I need to learn the new technology and I have a difficult time figuring out what all the icons on all these electronics mean. I don’t know the difference between a tablet, ipad, nook, reader, laptop, etc. Now, what would be the easiest electronic for me to learn the newer technology on? I also want to know if WiFi costs extra from the cable company and how difficult it is to install as I don’t think you can use any of the other techie toys without it. People are always so surprised when they find out I don’t have WiFi. Anyway, if you could just suggest to me the easiest thing to learn on I would appreciate it. Hugs and love, me. XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi there Grace!
Yes, formal indeed! I toyed with adding some sequins but I didn’t think that it needed anything else, glad that you agree! Thank you!
My Saturday was pretty sensational! Post is typed! I think my life is pretty nice but not that interesting but I’m happy to share and glad you think it is!
I emailed you separately about your tech questions! I’m always happy to help! Love and hugs from me too! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I really enjoy your pages. Your cards are great. I also enjoy hearing about your day and the pictures that you post. Very interesting. Makes me feel like I am actually traveling. My question is, if it is not too nosey, what do you actually do for a living? Thanks for sharing your life with us.

    1. Thank you very much Lorie! I truly am grateful that I get to share my days with you and that you enjoy reading about my adventures! I work for non-profit as a project manager at the moment and craft by night! LOL! Thank you for sharing in my life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Wow!! Fabulous card Justin!! So creative!! The three shades of purple were tough for me, but you rocked it!!! Thank you for joining us at the Pals!!

  8. My favorite color family! Super card, Justin. (I see you’ve watched Jennifer McGuire ๐Ÿ™‚ )

A suggestion for those who find any color family hard to work with….just do it in shades of your favorite color by laying out the shades (say it’s blue? Three blues in light to dark or three reds, etc.) of card stock on the work surface. When you’ve “made” the card in your mind’s eye, just sub in the purples for the blues or reds you’ve picked. I personally do NOT like green so I do this trick all the time. It’s like changing floss colors in any counted cross stitch pattern. You can completely change out the entire color palette in any pattern and make a picture say “muted” instead of “bright” or “pastel”. Or, it’s the same as using paint chips to change your decor. Pretty slick trick and easy to do once you’ve caught on how to apply it.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Yes Colleen! I love Jennifer!
That is a really great way to look at using colors that you aren’t comfortable with! Thanks! You are quite clever and thanks so much for sharing! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. WOW!! Beautiful, very vintage. I love this color combo, and your take f the chalenge. I really love these roses, Thanks…. now I need another stamp set. LOL

Hubby and I just came back from our quarterly run to Costco, now I’m well stocked until May when my sons are out of college. Have a good one

    1. Thank you Linda! I love those roses! LOL! Altenew has some really cool and different stamps! I want the Moon one!
Costco is trouble for me! LOL! I don’t get to go often and they have a lot of things that BJ’s doesn’t! Hope you had a nice day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Justin,

I hope you are getting a kick back from some of these companies. After your post with Dies by Dave, I think we all ran to his site because my order is still on backorder. Afrer reading your post I went to Altenew, guess what….sold out! Where do you find these awesome companies at?

    1. Wouldn’t that be nice Linda! I have to tell you that Dave actually sent me the rose plate which was extremely nice of him! I check out all different kinds of blogs all the time to keep up on the latest goodies! So happy that I get to share them with you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I LOVE this, Justin. And you know, I’m not even a purple person–except when it comes to Blackberry Bliss. And stamps with matching dies are the total bomb, in my book.

    1. Thank you Georgie! I’m with you, I love Blackberry Bliss but before that I wasn’t much a of purple fan! The stamps and dies are fantastic! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Oh my word, Justin, this is gorgeous! The colors worked beautifully with the stamp set and I can’t wait to try it ๐Ÿ™‚ When a little birdy (lol) told me about the Misti, I hesitated, and then got it and I have this stamp set….woohoo, yeah!!! I have used the Misti and it really does make things go quicker and most important more accurate! (Watch a YouTube video by Jen McGuire on Misti) You really rocked these colors! Happy Saturday to you ๐Ÿ˜‰ We are home from the beach and life is being fast forwarded already ๐Ÿ˜›

    1. Thank you so much Jill! I love the stamp set! LOL! Hmm… little bird huh?! The MISTI really is a great tool! Much better than a Stamp-a-ma-jig! I hoe that you can readjust to non-beach life! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Gorgeous colors Justin. Love your card. Was wondering what happened to you today when I did not see a card from you on SC. Hope you had a great Saturday. Can’t wait to see more pics of Daniel’s trip to Disney. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Louise! I didn’t post on SC because it was only Stampin’ Up! ink and card stock! I’ll hopefully have the pics of Daniel when they come back on Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Hey Justin, great card today – I love blackberry bliss, and that ‘thanks’ is awesome – well done!! I had to look up the MISTI on youtube, you have mentioned it but I still didnt know what it was, What a clever idea! Fool proof stamping – my kind of gadget… It’s kind of like a Stamp-A-Majig on steroids! I hope your Saturday was fantastic, my Sunday is pretty good so far! Cheers Justin ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxo

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you very much! Blackberry Bliss is definitely a fave of mine! The woman that invented the MISTI is a genius! Yes, it is like a Stamp-a-ma-jig on steroids, I love it! My Saturday was great and I’m glad that you are having a good Sunday! XOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. WOW! You got a lot accomplished after work. But you put the fab in fabulous! I just love those deep purples… the flowers look like I could almost smell them! Thanks for joining us at Pals Paper Arts.

  16. Great colors, great card, Justin! I *REALLY* love dies!!! Thanks for sharing a variety of them. I just ordered Lawn Fawn’s Small Stitched Rectangles with 4 other dies. I debated about the Large Stitched Rectangles, but didn’t get them. Seeing what you’ve done, I’ll have to add them to my Wish List.

    1. Thank you El! I have so much fun will al off the goodies that I have! The stitched ones are my favorite! ๐Ÿ™‚
