Paper Players 240 & Freshly Made Sketches 181

Wow! Is it Monday already?! That weekend just flew by like all of the rest of them! I did have a nice day yesterday though. I managed to get my taxes done (thanks so much Melissa!!). It was such nice day yesterday that I had to take a ride in the convertible with the top down so Taylor and I went to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee and Angie. Renee and I picked out some new goodies for next month’s card class, can’t wait to get that stuff! I came home and we had dinner with my parents and then Andrew stopped by for a bit. I helped him take the radio out of his car and put back the old one because he’s getting a new car on Tuesday! After he left I finished my laundry and cards for today. I really do need just a few more hours in the day! LOL!

Today I have two cards, one is for this week’s Paper Players and the other is for Freshly Made Sketches. First up is this week’s Paper Players and it’s a color challenge…

Paper Players #240

Some bright cheery colors! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock, and yes, it’s a tall & skinny! I used the Impression Obsession Fancy Cutout Border Die on some Pistachio Pudding. A strip of Coastal Cabana is cut and the panel is adhered with Foam Tape and then to the card with SNAIL. A piece of Strawberry Slush is cut out with the Butterfly Thinlits and backed with some Vellum and adhered to the card with more Foam Tape. Another piece of Strawberry Slush is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp You Craft Die and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. The greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana. A few 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins finish off the card. I really like the butterfly backed with the vellum, if only we had a die for that too!

Next up is Freshly Made Sketches

Freshly Made Sketches 181

I do love when there are some off kilter elements! My card base for this one is also Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Crushed Curry that I embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The off kilter panel is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I cut out three feathers from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Simon Says Stamp Feathers Craft Die. The greeting is from a Paper Pumpkin Kit and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Gray. I underlined it with with a piece of Lost Lagoon and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My feathers are tucked under the greeting and some Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are scattered to the right of the feathers and complete the card. I love the colors and the bold greeting and geometric pattern would make this a great masculine thank you card!

  1. Hey Justin, good morning. Both cards are very nice, but I’m partial to the Thanks one. I like the textures and the colors. Have a good Monday.
    🙂

  2. Hi Justin,
Good to hear you had a good weekend and got laundry done too! LOL! It sounds like fun choosing goodies to use in the next class at Scrap-A-Latte. How do you narrow it down? I’d be rubbish at that!
Love the colour combination, Coastal Cobana makes me smile & think of far away shores. Bliss. Take care, Michelle xo

    1. Hello Michelle!
Yes, it was a good weekend! I do have a lot of fun pocking out stuff to use for the card class! It’s not easy thinking what you are going to use for cards that you are going to make with stuff that you don’t have but I like to make it work!
Thank you! I like the colors too! They do have a very Caribbean feel to them! You take care too! XOXO 🙂

  3. Back the butterfly with vellum, back the butterfly with vellum, back the butterfly with vellum – I’m trying to stick that into my brain to use in the future! LOL When you do something like that it seems like such an obvious thing to do and you make it look easy, just like a quadruple twist when I watch the figure skaters. I think that sometimes the easiest looking things are not all that easy to think up. I’m having difficulty trying to explain what I mean but I hope you get the picture. I think the butterfly is beautiful.

Boy that dazzling diamonds glimmer paper couldn’t be any more perfect for those gorgeous feathers. Of course if it sparkles I love it! What can I say – I’m a glitzy kind of gal!

Sounds like your weekend was fabulous as it should be. We are being blessed with my kind of weather here also. I like anything between 50 and 79 degrees. No colder, no hotter. I guess I should live in Hawaii because the weather there is pretty much in the 70’s all year round. I want to wish you luck with your new design team. I checked them out and all their creations were fabulous. Have yourself a Marvelous Monday my friend. XO

    1. LOL! I do that all the time Grace! Sometimes I finish something and think, hmm… why didn’t I dod that to it! I’m a big figure skating fan by the way! I wish that I could do a quadruple twist! LOL!
I like the feathers from Simon, they look nice even on glimmer paper because of the rough edges! I knew that you would like the sparkle!
The weekend was pretty great! I am with you as far as the temperature goes! My perfect one is 72! Wouldn’t it be nice to live in Hawaii?!?! Thank you for wishes, I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with! My Monday was pretty good, hope that yours was too! XOXO 🙂

  4. What a great idea to put vellum behind the butterfly! Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. Oh my goodness, you are one busy guy Justin!! Last night I chose sleep over computer time, my daughter has decided once again to NOT sleep, so I knew I’d be up a few times, turns out it was 3 times 🙁 She just turned 4.

Your cards are fabulous! I love the first one for it’s clean lines. It has intricate details with the die cuts. Really awesome bling, lol! Someday I will use the new sequins that I got, maybe when my daughter sleeps again!!!! 😉 Your second card is so cool, with the airy glittery feathers! Love the angle and then you used the embossing folder that kind of matches the angles and the DSP too. Very angular, hee hee (*flat joke) ;P

    1. LOL! Yes, I am a little on the busy side! I would like to choose sleep sometimes, but there is way too much to be done! I’ll bet that your daughter is a cutie!
Thank you so much! I really do love some sequins, they give it just right amount of sparkle! Yes, the second card is very geometric! LOL! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin! Great cards today! A double treat for us! The first one, with the butterfly and that most AWESOME die is just gorgeous! I love the intricacy of that die. And the colors together are just so pretty. Now your second card is just as fabulous! I can’t believe that I don’t have that triangle EF yet. On the list it goes! Those feathers are perfect cut from the dazzling diamonds glimmer paper. How fun for Andrew to get a new car! You get the iPhone watch and he gets a car! 😉 Have a great rest of your day and thanks for the fabulous creations today! Love them!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you so much! I do love that Fancy Cutout Border die! They did do a good job selecting the colors! The feathers are one of my favorite dies! I’m very happy for Andrew! Can’t wait to see his new wheels! I think that he made out better on the deal that me though, although I will definitely love my new watch! I hope that you had a good day! 🙂

  7. Justin,
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both of these cards!!! The first card the butterfly looks fabulous with the vellum backing and the fancy border die is perfect!
The second card – the feathers are perfect in the white glimmer paper and I love the moonlight dsp. Also the triangle embossed curry card stock. As always, you put all the elements together perfectly. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yay! Thank you very much Gerri! That border die is so cool! I’m so happy that you enjoyed them both! 🙂

  8. Hey Justin, once again, your settings match your cards perfectly! Love the colours on the butterfly card, the vellum looks awesome behind it! Those sparkly feathers are gorgeous – and matching sequins too! You must have every colour sequin there is!?! Have you heard how the LA trip is going? I can’t wait to hear all about Daniel’s adventures, he’s too funny! Well, I’m off to wash my hair in a bucket. There was an explosion somewhere in Australia that cut gas supply to our city and one other a couple of hours away. They say it could be out for a week 🙁 Aaaagghhhh! First world problems huh!?! Hope your Monday was great Justin! xoxo 🙂

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thanks! I do have some fun with my props! Glad that you like both of the cards! I do have a lot of sequins but there are some more that I want to get! LOL! The LA trip went well and they are back! Daniel really is just a character! Oh my! I am so not a fan of gas! It always makes me nervous! I have a gas stove and early ever use it! Definitely first world problems! My Monday was pretty good! Hope that your week gets better! 🙂

  9. What gorgeous texture on these! I absolutely adore the vellum behind the butterfly die cut (I’ll have to remember that one) and your sparkly feathers are terrific! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  10. Just be honest… you never sleep. How do you get everythng done in 24 hours, i’ m jealous. Beautiful creations as usual, I especialy love the feathers. I did not get as much accomplished as I would have liked. I’m an avid scrapbooker. Between 4 kids and family vacations I have over 60 albums. Anyway I store all my goodies on shelves, which are getting full. I was making a card fr my DT on Saturday when I started hearing little crackeling noises, my shelves collapsed! What a nightare!! Luckily my hubby ddnt kill me, we went out got new shelves and he buit me a new set up. I’m still not done putting everything in place but I have more room. I also found some dies that I forgiot about, LOL Take care….

    1. LOL! I really do wish that I didn’t have to sleep! The 20 or so hours that I’m up every day just aren’t enough! Thank you! WOW! 60 albums! I’ll bet that it’s so much fun to look through them though! That’s too bad about your shelves! I’m always afraid that will happen to me! I’ll bet that you are nice and organized now though! Have fun with your “new” dies! LOL! 🙂

  11. Ooo I am liking both cards Justin, but must confess to being partial to the first one! I love the border die layered with the vellum-backed butterfly – gorgeous! So glad you managed to sneak in some sequins too – id have been disappointed if not! Thanks so much for joining in with my colour challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

    1. Thank you very much Joanne! That border die is so cool and detailed! LOL! I do like some sequins! It’s almost a trademark now! Great colors by the way! Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

  12. Great cards, Justin! Love the vellum backed butterfly on the IO Fancy Cutout Border. The butterfly looks great on that die cut, which is really pretty layered over the Coastal Cabana. Just luscious!
