Paper Players 242

Monday… sigh… the weekend flew by as always. It was a nice day here yesterday, sunny and in the 50’s again. I did some crafty things in the morning and then Heather came by and picked me up. We went to Target, I got to use my watch to pay for my coffee at Starbucks, and then stopped at the deli to get some lunch. She had to run home and attend to her laundry but came back over and got me so we could run to Macy’s. It’s her birthday next week and she had received some gift cards a little early. There was a Michael Koors bag that she wanted so we picked that up and then I had a look at the mens clothing. I found some shirts and got to pay for them with my Apple Watch too! The lady at the register was a little surprised when I held my watch up to the credit card reader and it beeped! LOL! I love being all futuristic! Maybe someday soon I will be able to get rid of my wallet all together! After I got home I finished up some cards and the spent some time getting sucked into YouTube! I have to stop doing that! How was your weekend?

The good thing about today is it’s time for another Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #242

I have some more new stuff that I have been meaning to use so I did that on today’s card! My card begins with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Island Indigo. I used the Simon Says Stamp Circle Border Die for my Pool Party piece that goes across the top. The three banners are Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy. I used the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Die to cut out some Neenah Solar White 80lb and stamped the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set using the new Hero Arts Ombre Ink in Pool to Navy. A piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is tied through the top. I adhered a piece of Fun Foam to the back of the background and the back of the tag and then adhered them to the card. My “Cheers” is cut out from Pool Party using the Simon Says Stamp Cheers! Die. I used a little Ranger Multi Matte Medium to adhere it to the card. I’m loving that ombre ink, such a cool effect! This card will be for my friend Anthony who’s birthday just happens to be today! Happy Birthday Anthony! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to see me today! Have a magnificent Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Great card Justin! I love how you substituted the oval shape with a tag and the ombrรฉ inking is gorgeous- looks like a hint of sparkle too! Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players – have a great week!

    1. LOL! Yes, it’s a fancy but quite useful little toy! Glad that you like the card too! Anthony did like it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Good Morning Justin:

Nice to know you are having so much fun with your new toy. I doubt if I was a cashier that I would know how to have you pay with a watch! Did you get any strange looks from cashiers when doing that? So – tell this old lady – how do you keep track of what you are spending when you pay with a watch? Perhaps because we are retired and on a fixed income that would be a concern for me. Makes it too easy to spend. LOL

I love the colors in your card today. I use the graduated color ink pads fairly often and learned early on to be sure to clean my stamp between every time I stamp with it. A few times I messed up and ruined an ink pad. I’m sure Anthony is really going to love this card – by the way – Happy Birthday Anthony!

Have a Marvelous Monday and I hope your weather is better than ours. It’s cloudy, damp and there is a slight breeze – just enough to chill you to the bone. My daffodils still aren’t even close to blooming. Geez!
Love and hugs to you my friend! XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I am really loving the Apple Watch! LOL! The cashier asked what I did to pay for the purchase so I showed her! She was like whoa!! My debit card is on my watch so it works just like the card but I don’t have to take the card out or worry about them seeing the number! So, it is just the same as using a card!
Thank you! I love all of the blues and we have quite a few at the moment! The Ombre pads are pretty cool, and yes, I clean my stamp after every use! Anthony did enjoy the card! I’ll pass on your birthday wishes!
My day was good, we had Chinese food and cake for lunch! The weather was ok, not the best. I hope that your weather improves! Love and big hugs to you my friend! XOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Justin,
Love this card!!! The ombre is so pretty. And the Cheers die – I have to get that!
Your watch is so cool! I saw an advertisement for it last night on TV. Wow!

    1. Hi Gerri!
Thank you very much! The inks are neat and yes, the cheers die is fun!
I am loving the watch! It’s pretty incredible! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Back in Sweet Home Chicago! So. Carolina was beautiful, it is truely spring there, 70’s and sunny, but Kentucky was my favorite, just beautiful, especialy the Northen Section. My son did exceptionally well, 320th place out of 1689, I couldnt walk a trialtalon, or swim in my life but he finished in 2.22. Of couse he is bummed cause he was 4 minutes longer then his best time. LOL. Great relaxing time but I’m glad to be home. We drove there and it was a long 11 hour drive back home.

I have been folowing you but we had no internet at out hotel, I almost died! Love all our creations but my fav was the Typset Butterfly, Todays card is awesome. I love the color combo, and your layout. i’m really loving those Ombre Inks from Hero arts. I came home yesterday to my Reverse Confetti order, I was so excited! I need to get laundry done but hopefully I can play, back to work tomorow. Sigh……

    1. Yay! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip Linda! WOW!! That is pretty impressive! I would be in a hospital bed or worse if I tried to do that! Oh, 4 minutes! Again, I would probably not be here anymore! LOL! 11 hours in the car is rough but worth it for all that!
LOL! I could not live without the Internet! Sad isn’t it?! I’m so glad that you have been enjoying the cards! Yes, the Ombre inks are neat! Yay for your Reverse Confetti order! I have been playing with mine getting ready for class! I would love to see what you make! Sorry about work, I feel your pain! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi Justin! I’m still here, I check on you everyday but with a new puppy my free time is quite limited! As soon as I get on the computer or my laptop, she’s on top of me and it’s hard to type. You’ve had some awesome projects these last few days!! I love your umbrella shaker card!!! And today’s card is so pretty, always love the shades of blue. Your watch is pretty cool too! I’d never be able to figure that out but I think it’s pretty neat that you’ve got one. You’re the only person I know that has one! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have a good rest of your night. Just know that even if I don’t comment, I do check on you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Yay!! Ahh, the new puppy! I have been ousted by a puppy! LOL! Is she just the cutest ever?! Give her a nice cuddle from me! I’m glad that you have been enjoying the cards! You know I love a shaker and that die made it really easy to make! My Apple Watch is so cool! I am happy to report that I was among the 22% that ordered the watch and received it! Lucky me for sure! I appreciate hearing from you! Enjoy the puppy! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Oooh Justin, love the ombre inks! They really look so close to SU colors and went well with the card stock ๐Ÿ™‚ I really like the tag and the “let’s party and celebrate you” sentiment. The flags behind the tag really reinforce the great color choices you made. Hope your Monday went great! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. My phone is giving me fits and randomly takes the keyboard away, I siooo want a new one!!

        1. Moto Razr Maxx….time for a new one! I know you are HUGE Apple guy, we are still stuck in our android rut. I’ve been watching the new Galaxy 6 that is out. They are a chunk of change though!

So sometimes if you see I’m brief, it’s because my phone erased my comments, or keeps taking the keyboard away — drives me batty, sometimes it takes me 20 minutes to try to leave a comment. I always have my phone, but not always the computer, lol!! Doesn’t quite fit in my pocket ๐Ÿ˜€

          1. Oh my! We need to get you away from Android!! They always freeze!
I can imagine how much fun it is trying to comment on a phone! I can’t respond to mine, I need a keyboard! LOL! I extra appreciate your comments now!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. Thanks Jill! The inks are really cool! I was surprised how well they matched the Stampin’ Up! colors of card stock! The sentiments in that set are great! I’m so glad that I started subscribing to the monthly card kit from Simon Says Stamp! Thanks!! My day was good, hope the same is true for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Love the ombre effect on the tag sentiment and the fun polka do die cut! Great card, Justin! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players!

  9. I love everything you’ve got going here, Justin! The circle die background is just the coolest, as is the ombre technique…VERY cool! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
