Paper Players 246

Oh what a happy Monday it is indeed! A great big thank you to all of the men and women that serve our country and make it great! And also for getting me the day off for work! LOL! I had a nice relaxing Sunday! Breakfast with the girls was fun! We had a nice chat and got all caught up! We are also not going to wait so long until the next time we do that! When I got home from breakfast I rearranged the room next to the kitchen in my apartment and it’s so much bigger now! I like playing Tetris with furniture! The rest of the day was spent crafting, doing laundry and some doing nothing too! When Taylor got home from work we ran to IKEA so I could get a rug for the new open area in the cleaned out space! Today I’m going to be crafty and get ahead for the week! 🙂

Today’s card is for this week’s Paper Players challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Players #246

I stepped a little out of my color zone today! The inspiration is the Washi Tape and the colors in it. My card base is the usual and the entire card front is covered in a piece of Real Red. Another piece of Whisper White has some Washi Tape with a map on it that I got from Michaels. Guess what is on the map… London!! How weird is that?! Anyway, I adhered the strip of Washi to the panel and then on the top and bottom are pieces of Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Flowers on My Mind Photopolymer Stamp Set with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Fun Foam is adhered to the back and then the panel to the card. My tag is cut from Basic Black using the Tim Holtz Tags Collection Framelits. I adhered some more Washi to another piece of Whisper White and used the Simon Says Stamp Feathers Dies to cut three out. They are adhered to the tag and some Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is wrapped around the bottom. Another piece of Fun Foam and adhesive holds it to the card. To finish it off I adhered three Recollections Enamel Dots to the Washi across the center. I’m really liking the colors that I pulled from the Washi, I think that they are different and pretty neat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! Thanks for taking some time out from your Memorial Day festivities to stop by and see me! Have a safe and fun day! 🙂

  1. Justin, this is a very interesting card. I thought the tag was a creative heart before reading your description. Knowing it is washi tape that you cut using feather die cuts is totally creative and I like how you were thinking outside the box. Very nice card. I’m always amazed at your creativity.

    1. Thank you so much HJ! I had fun with the Washi Tape and was so excited when I realized that it was a Map of London! 🙂

  2. Hey Justin, glad you enjoyed your long weekend, I love them but it does make it harder to get back to work… Your card is cool, so different! I am the same as HJ, I also thought that was a weird shaped heart on the tag, lol! The map is a great pattern, and another cool thing for guy’s cards. I hope the rest of your week is awesome! Cheers Justin 🙂 xoxo

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you! I really did! It definitely does make it harder to go back to work! I think that Washi Tape is the neatest! Yes, it will be great for “guy” cards! I hope that you too have a great week! XOXO 🙂

  3. Hi Justin there is something I have been meaning to say to you for a while now but always forget. As much as love the cards you do and am so grateful you share them I also love and look forward to seeing your little vinyette you set up to photograph each card they are so simple but elegant or rustic whatever the card may be so again thanks for them Justin and you are such a talent we are lucky to have you share with us.

  5. Justin, I am currently obsessed with Washi Tape, so therefore I am smitten with your card. How cool is this map Washi? You just made me HAVE go to Michaels to scout it out. I need to add it to the 200 roll “collection”. Lol! The colors are so fun and I love the tag. Such a fun card, all around. Thank you so much for playing along with my sketch this week at The Paper Players! 🙂

    1. LOL! Hmm… what a coincidence, I too am obsessed with Washi Anne Marie! The Map Washi is great, the other roll os a roadway! I have been good and have been using my washi a lot more, makes a great little accent! So glad that you enjoyed the card! Have a fabulous weekend! 🙂
