Fab Friday 66

Oh yes, it’s my favorite day of the week as you know! Yesterday was hot and muggy here, we made it up to 90, not that I’m complaining, better than snow any day! My friend Robin and I had Panera for lunch, one of my faves! After dinner I came home and Skyped with Andrea and worked on my card for today. My friend Sue stopped by around 7:45 and we chatted and I showed her some of my recent projects and she made a list of things that she wanted to get! It really would be nice if I got commission on the other stuff that I use! LOL! Tonight I have a lot of projects to get through and this weekend is going to be a busy one. I have to make the cards for next week’s card class at Scrap-A-Latte but I get to go and see Renee so that’s always good! What’s on for you this weekend?

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our sketch challenge…

Fab Fri 66 6-12-2015

I had the idea in my head for this card from the first time that I saw the sketch, I just had to wait for my new goodies to arrive before I could make it! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a strip of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack to the base and on the right side is a piece of Washi Tape from Little B. The frame is from a pack from Heidi Swapp and is adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. My dragonfly and greeting are from the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set. The dragonfly is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then again in Versa-Mark on Vellum. I sprinkled some Gold Stampin’ Glitter on and then covered it in Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it. The body and wings are cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered together with a Bling Glue Dot. Some Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape hold him to the card. The friend is heat embossed in Gold and Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits. A little SNAIL on the ends hold it to the frame. Finally, a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Charcoal Sequins finish the card. I love the dragonfly, especially with the vellum wings! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge! Be sure and visit the blog to see the rest of the design team’s projects and enter your card in the gallery too! Thank you for spending a little of your Friday with me, have fabulous day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. So pretty and very elegant! Love that dragonfly the way you have done it. Really gorgeous. Have a great Friday. Looks like your weekend will be busy. Helping my upline at her catalogue launch and with the Make’n Takes, should be a lot of fun. Cheers. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Justin,
Just popping in to say a huge congrats on being chosen for the Mojo Monday DT!
This card is sophisticated and I love the bold graphic design. Way to go! Bravo!

    1. Hello Cindy!
Thanks so much!! I’m so happy about Mojo!!
Glad that you like the card too! Enjoy your weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. WOW, Justin…just WOW! I love this sketch and your card is so classy! I also love that dragonfly and I really like how you did the wings. Very nice! This is going in my “cards to make” folder…:-) I also forgot to tell you congrats on being on the new DT. Whoo hoo!

    1. Thanks very much Bobbi! I too love the dragonfly but he need some fun wings! Thanks of the congrats too, so excited about the Mojo DT! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Oh my Justin – finally a Dragonfly that looks like a Dragonfly should. Those vellum wings are just gorgeous! I have a Dragonfly punch that I bought about ten years ago and I often use it with gold foil paper. So elegant! However, now that I see the way you have created it with the vellum wings I am going to have to try it. Your designs are such an inspiration!

It’s supposed to be stinkin’ hot and humid here again today. I hate it. I’d rather have a foot of snow any day! When all of our friends began to retire like us about 95 per cent of them headed south. The other 5 per cent headed north and were constantly teased about being “bat crap crazy”. LOL So now, when they are all complaining about the heat and humidity in Florida and the Carolina’s we invite them to Maine. When we have a gazillion feet of snow they invite us to Florida but we tell them we are too busy with the skis and the snowmobiles. Thank goodness we all have our own likes and dislikes or Florida would have sunk into the gulf years ago with all the people moving there. No complaints about traffic here.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend. I intend to spend it finishing up the binding on the quilt I am making for my younger daughter. I also have to start thinking about making Christmas cards which is hard when it’s stinkin’ hot here. Big hugs! XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Grace! The dragonfly needed some fun wings! Hmm, a dragonfly punch?! That sounds cool!
It’s going to be the same here but I will take it over snow any day! I do think that you were actually ready to retire your crown as snow queen after the winter that we had! LOL! How soon we forget! I will take the warm any day!
I wish you a fab weekend too! I am off to see Renee this morning and then to be crafty! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚
