Lilac Silhouettes Thank You & Manhattan

Hi there! Despite the rainy day yesterday I had a great day! I headed into Astoria to pick up Michael, put the top down in the car and then off to Manhattan we went. There was quite a bit of traffic going across the 59th Street bridge but it doesn’t seem so bad in the car with the top down! We arrived at my friend Kim’s house around 9:15 and headed to the diner for a little breakfast. After that we went back to Kim’s apartment and dis-assembled the large IKEA bookcase. We sat and chatted for a while and Kim had said that she wanted to go and find a couch. Our first stop was Macy’s and a little Starbucks to help with concentration! From there we headed up to Pottery Barn and that’s where she found the couch. It’s a really nice comfortable one with a matching storage ottoman. After the furniture hunting was finished we went to Nick’s for a really late lunch/early dinner and had some delicious pizza. Then it was back to Kim’s for a little digestion and then Michael and I came back to my house and hung out with Taylor and watched some TV before I took him back over to Sue’s house. I can’t think of a nicer way to spend a Saturday! Here is a little picture of the three of us from one of our cab rides!

Man do I love my peeps!! 😀

The card that I have for you today is actually one that I made a few week’s ago. I was inspired by a tag that my friend Holly had made. I was in my parent’s back yard and was looking at the Lilac bushes and remembered that I had seen a clever way to make some with one of the stamps from Summer Silhouettes. To start off the card I used Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and covered the front in a piece of Wisteria Wonder. The main panel is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, the Simon Says Stamp Medium Dot Line Die is used to punch out the circles down the right side. I then threaded some Gold Thread with a few purple Swarovski Crystals and some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins through the holes and secured the thread behind the panel. The panel is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam, SNAIL and Foam Tape. My images are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are stamped in Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Old Olive. I adhered the stamped panel to some Elegant Eggplant. For the greeting I used the “Vintage” Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum. It’s secured to the back of the panel and then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I love the sequins and crystals on the gold thread and the simple look of the flowers! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and that it inspires you to use a stamp set in a different way! Thank you for coming by and sharing in some of my adventures too! Have a simply lovely Sunday! 🙂

  1. WOW!! Justin, this is a beautiful card. I love all the elements and especially how you used the stamp for the lilacs. We have lilacs in our yard and they smell so good when blooming. Your extra touch of the crystals and sequins is so unique and pretty. Thanks for sharing your day too.

    1. Thank you so much HJ! I love the way lilacs smell, my grandmother used to have huge trees at the end of her driveway! I thought that the added bling was fun! I’m happy that I get to share my days with you! 🙂

  3. Justin, that is such a clever way to use this stamp! I always try to “think outside the box” with my stamps, turning my sets this way and that to look at them from different directions. But, I NEVER saw that with this stamp set! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful card!

Awesome weekend, played with some of my stamp sets and today went Scrapbooking, I found a small store that has some great inventory, only have crops 1x month but its better then nothing. Darn, tomorrow is Monday, but only a 4 day work week

    1. Thank you Linda! I too love lilacs, they smell divine! I like the movement that using the die and the thread gives the crystals and sequins!
