Mojo 401, Freshly Made Sketches 190 & Pals Paper Arts 255

Today is catch up day for me! It was quite hot here yesterday and muggy again but that just means more convertible time! Work was busy and after I had dinner I came home and started working on a bunch of projects because I got way behind this week! Around 8:00 I ran over to see my friend Sandy for a bit. She had ordered some new things from My Favorite Things and there was one little goodie in there for me! I got back from Sandy’s around 10:00 and finished up my projects. This morning I’m going to head over to Scrap-A-Latte and pick up the stamps for this month’s card class which is on Thursday and Friday! Yikes! I think that Taylor is going to take a ride with me provided that she is up! Today’s post is lengthy, three cards for you this Saturday morning!

Up first is my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. Still can’t believe that I’m on the Design Team now!! Here it is…

Mojo401

This card has lots of new goodies from the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog! The card starts with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, I covered the entire front with a piece of Very Vanilla. My background is also a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On the right is a piece of Calypso Coral with a piece of “Vintage” Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon. I adhered it to a piece of Fun Foam and then to the card with SNAIL. The middle panel is a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper 6X6 Stack backed with some Basic Black, it’s adhered to the card with SNAIL and tucked under ribbon. My greeting and butterfly are from the Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed in “Vintage” Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum, the bottom is flagged with the top folded over and tucked behind the center panel. For the butterfly I stamped him in Mint Macaroon and Pacific Point on Very Vanilla and cut him out with the Butterfly Thinlits. The body is a piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine, I folded a piece in half and the wound some more around it securing with some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. A few Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered to the butterfly and some Pretty Pink Posh Tangerine and Hazel & Ruby The Makery Green with Envy Sequins are scattered about. I love that Brick Wall Embossing Folder and the DSP is great!

Next up is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 190

I decided to turn it on it’s side and make a wedding card, nope, still not done with them! The card base for this one is the same Neenah 110lb. On the front is a piece of Basic Gray that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Geometric Next Level Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Blushing Bride that I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Photopolymer Stamp Set in Ranger Liquid Platinum. Some SNAIL and Fun Foam adheres it to the card. The wreath and branches are from the Simon Says Stamp Lovely Spring Photopolymer Stamp Set and are heat embossed in more Platinum Embossing Powder on Vellum and cut out with the matching Simon Says Stamp Lovely Day Dies. Some Ranger Multi-Matte Medium and Kool Tak Clear Foam Tape adhere them to the card. Around the greeting is a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine & Sparkle Sequins. I’m really loving the new Next Level embossing folders and the Platinum Embossing powder is definitely one of my favorites!

Today’s final card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 255

I just had to play with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder again! The card base for this is the same as the first two, this one is covered in a piece of Marina Mist. The background is a piece of Sahara Sand that is embossed with that Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. My greeting is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in “Vintage” Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Marina Mist. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies to cut it out. The Flourish is the new My Favorite Things Pierced Fancy Flourish Die and is cut from Early Espresso and adhered to the card with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte. I used some Fun Foam and SNAIL to adhere the greeting to the card. I thought it needed a little something more so I punched out some flowers with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack from Marina Mist and used more Multi-Matte Medium to adhere them to the card. Finally some Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered to the centers of all of the flowers including the ones on the greeting. Like I said, I love the Brick Wall Folder!

  2. Beautiful cards! I love the close up of the brick wall to see the rough edges of the bricks. I also could not tell from the catalog that a piece of butterfly paper was in that DSP stack! Butterflies are my favorite. Hi Taylor! Make us a card soon! How is Andrew? Have a great day! Beware of pop up rain showers with that convertible…Nancy B

    1. Thanks Nancy! The Brick Wall EF is wonderful and I love that DSP Stack, so many really great patterns and colors! I will pass along your request to Taylor! Andrew is good! The day was wonderful and I hope that your’s was too! 🙂

  3. Love all these cards, Justin. The embossed backgrounds really add a special touch to each card. The platinum embossing powder is going on my wish list. On your first card, I love the dainty DSP with butterflies. Thanks for all the details of how these came together.

    1. Thank you HJ! I really do love the texture that the EF’s give the cards! That Platinum Embossing Powder is my favorite! Have a lovely day! 🙂

  4. Boy Justin – you really ARE playing catch up! LOL Three beautiful cards in one post! PHEW! Wipe your brow, grab a coffee and take a break. I especially like the third card – that brick EF may replace my all time favorite World Stamp as a background. It’s uses are limitless for sure. Love what you did with the butterfly body and the hemp twine! I can’t wait to see the cards you are making with your next class. They always look so amazing and like they were so much fun to create. Has Taylor got her blog set up yet?

Looks to be a delightful weekend weather wise here. Not much going on but that’s O.K. because company starts arriving the last weekend of this month and we expect weekends will be pretty full with visitors right through Labor Day. We always get lots of visitors during the summer. We have our “show the tourists” route down to perfection and can show them lots of lovely things in Maine in a single day on a route that is exactly 100 miles round trip (well, sometimes it’s more)!

Hope you have lots of fun this weekend. Put the top down, have fun at Renee’s and stamp, stamp, stamp! Love and Hugs! 🙂

    1. LOL! Yes Grace, I did! Thank you very much! I did take it easy yesterday and really enjoyed the day! I love that Brick EF, so nice and detailed! I was happy that the butterfly body worked out! I am going to work on my class cards today and will share them later in the week! No, Taylor still hasn’t done her blog. I keep asking!
The weather yesterday was wonderful, great for the convertible! I did have a great day yesterday and just took it easy! I’m sure that you do get a lot of visitors and that’s nice that you have your tours all mapped out! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend! I definitely am! Love to you! XOXO 🙂

  7. Hey Justin, wow, three awesome cards – how good is that brick wall embossed background!?! That is definitely going on my wish list! My friend has stepped down as a demonstrator, so I will need to order online from now on, not quite the same as gathering together for a party 🙁 It seems we have finally swapped weather, it’s rainy and dreary here, not freezing, but nice to stay inside by the fire! I hope your weekend is great Justin! 🙂 xoxo

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you! The Brick Wall EF is the best one yet! That’s too bad that your Demo stepped down, maybe you can find a new one? It was absolutely lovely here yesterday and today looks to be the same! Enjoy the fireplace! XOXO 🙂
