Pals Paper Arts 256

Another fun filled day! I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep these past few days and I was feeling it a little yesterday but I managed to perk up and make it through! Work was a little busy but I got a call from my dad that he had found a car that he wanted me to go and look at so I snuck out of work at 3:00. We went to the dealer and I test drove a 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc Convertible. I pick it up next Thursday! Yay! After that I picked up Taylor and Michael and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte for card class. The Thursday class is a nice laid back one and we always have a good time. Michael took care of the social media posts and talked about his upcoming classes. It ended around 9:30 and I dropped him off and then came home and made today’s card. Like I said another fun filled day!

Here is a little group shot of us from class last night! A few people had to leave early but we’ll get them next time!

SAL Card Class 6-2015

No on to the post. The card that I made is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 256

I kept very true to the sketch and also kept the card really simple. My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Triple Banner Punch to flag the ends of two pieces of Basic Black and a piece of Tip Top Taupe. The black ones are adhered with SNAIL and the taupe one with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My greeting is from the Bravo! Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. I used a combination of SNAIL and Fun Foam to adhere it to the card. Finally, three clear sequins that Michael brought me from Brasil are adhere with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium next to the greeting. I really do like the simplicity of the card, we need them every so often right?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy Friday! 🙂

  1. A ” new” car! WooHoo! Congrats.

Very CAS card but very effective. Could be a great graduation card or for celebrating any other achievement. I am sure your weekend will be very busy with your friend Michael in town. (My DIL leaves for Brazil on Sunday to present Quebec films at a festival). Enjoy the visit and have fun. 🙂

    1. I know Louise! I’m so excited! It’s the newest car I will have ever owned! LOL!
Thank you! I needed something quick but neat! Crafting at 11:00pm is not always fun! How nice that your DIL gets to go to Brasil to do that! I’m hoping for a fun weekend! Hope you have a good one too! 🙂

  2. The banners and the DSP go perfectly together. Nice combo of colors too. The banner punch is going on my wish list. Congrats on the car!

  3. Good Morning Justin!

So glad to hear you had a great day yesterday and last night’s class looks like it was a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see the cards you made for these classes. AND the icing on the cake I’m sure was that both Taylor and Michael were there with you and Renee and the rest of the class.

Love today’s card. I too think it would be great for any occasion but my mind went directly to “masculine” cards. I so have a hard time with them. The color combo and clean lines lean toward masculinity – strong yet soft, bold yet sweet. Perfect, perfect, perfect card for sure.

Hope you have fun at tonight’s class. Hey – after you pick up the new convertible we have to see a few photos of it. I’m a Chevy kind of gal myself and a true lover of Corvette’s and, to tell you the truth, I don’t know if I have ever ridden in a Saab. I hope you have amazingly good luck with it and enjoy it to the hilt! Have yourself a Fun, Filled Friday. Love and hugs. 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, class was great last night! I will post the cards this weekend! I forgot that I had the CF Hop so probably Sunday!
Thank you! I agree! I think that the colors lend well to masculine, or what we think of as masculine.
Tonight’s class was great, Brian and Andrew always make it a good time! I will take some pictures of the new ride for sure! My dad actually has been looking at Saab’s and he knows cars better than me! It’s still a convertible with all of the bells and whistles! Friday was great, here’s to good weekend for us both! Love to you! XOXO 🙂

  4. Great, clean lines on the card and fabulous use of the sketch. We had a Saab in the 70s and loved it!!

  5. WooHoo! A new car – and a convertible to boot!! I need a Dad like that!! (Heck, I’d be happy to have my Dad alive and well again!) Your card is terrific!! I love the simple elegance of it! I will flatter you immensely by copying it to some extent at some time in the future!

    1. It had to be a convertible! The roof down makes me so happy! My dad is definitely the best! Thank you! I am so happy to hear that you will be copying it, now I know it’s good! 🙂

  6. I really love this card and its simplicity. If you change the colors, it could even be appropriate for a girl/woman.
Who is the Saab for — you or your dad? It sounds great!
You have a terrific weekend! My husband and son are taking me out to a fancy seafood restaurant on the Kentucky side of the river for my birthday tomorrow. Then on Sunday, it’s Father’s Day! It’s also the Summer Solstice. Enjoy your day Sunday. I hope you have a big family gathering with all the dads! Love, Nancy B

    1. Thank you so much Nancy! Yes, a quick color change and maybe the Pretty Petals DSP?!
The Saab is for me! I can’t wait to get it!
I hope that you too have a great weekend! Oh! It sounds like a super one for you! Happy Birthday! I plan to spend time with my dad and Taylor, the perfect Father’s Day!! 🙂

  7. P. S. Grace: I think Chevrolet may have bought Saab a few years ago, so it would be the best of both worlds. My family has had Chevies since the 1940’s! And Caddies and Buicks too. Enjoy Maine — I love it there! Nancy B

    1. I think that you might be right, but I think that a Swedish company bought them last year. 🙂

  8. So jealous, I wish I had a scrapbook store near me, looks ike a great time was had by all. Love the card, simple yet powerful. Happy Friday. I just got some new goodies in the mail, yes your embossing folders which your post forced me to buy, LOL I hope to play. Also got some new interesting dies, A Cut and emboss bird and a cool flower from Dees Distinctvely lets see what mojo produces

    1. Scrap-A-Latte is so much fun and class is always great! Glad that you like the card, needed a quickie! Friday was good, hope that yours was too! You sound like you are in for a good weekend! These Embossing Folders are Awesome! I’ll have to look into the dies! 🙂

  9. The plain banners are so effective against the patterned paper! And it’s so clever the way the shape of the arrowheads echoes the inverted ends of the banners. A really great card Justin!
