SIP Challenge #1 – Reminder!

It was rainy and dreary here all day yesterday. A good day to be at work! LOL! After dinner I came home and chatted with Andrea on Skype and made a few cards. Not a very exciting evening but they are welcome every once in a while. My friend Kim got good news yesterday, she was approved by the board for her new apartment! That means that she will be moving in the next few weeks! Time to start picking paint colors and furniture!

My post for today is a reminder for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! There is still time to play and add your card to the wonderful ones that are already in the gallery! Here is another look at the challenge…

SIP Any Challenge 1

For my second dose of inspiration I decided to make a watercolor color card using some new pens that I recently acquired! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card stock and the background isΒ a piece of Canson 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper. The main panel is another piece of the watercolor paper. I stamped the images from the Clearly Besotted Sweet Rose Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed them with White Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. To do my watercoloring I used the Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and an Waterbrush. I first wet the area that I was going to color and then used the pens to fill it in. After I had finished and let it dry I heat embossed the sentiment from the same set in Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The panel is then adhered to some Fun Foam and then adhered to the base. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins add a little sparkle. I absolutely love the Zig Watercolor Pens, they are nice and easy to work with and the results are fantastic. I hope that you enjoyed your second dose of inspiration for the first Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge. Go on over to the blog and check out what else the Design Team has come up with along with all of the great cards already in the gallery! Thank you so much for your visit today! Have a terrific Tuesday! πŸ™‚

  1. Hey Justin, what a pretty card! I love the way you coloured the bottle and water! What good news for Kim, that took soooo long! She must be itching to move in – I can’t wait to see your handiwork!! My daughter and I have really bad colds, and feel like death warmed up… She has exams this week so she needs to be at school. I have tomorrow off so that’s something. I need to make about 6 cards for upcoming birthdays πŸ™‚ I may copy your ideas if you don’t mind? Cheers Justin xoxo

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you! The bottle is my favorite part too! Kim is so excited and it’s about time, that took way too long! I’m sorry that you and your daughter are both sick! That really is no good for her with exams. Of course you may CASE the cards! Glad that I can help!! Feel better my friend! XOXO πŸ™‚

  2. Really beautiful. Very cool technique. Love the soft and lovely result, will have to give this a try. Yippee for your friend Kim! Sometimes those boards take their own sweet time and it makes you wonder. Glad it turned out well. Have a great day. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you very much Louise! Kim is so happy that it’s finally over! The boards take way too long here! Hope that you enjoyed your day! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Justin:

I wrote you this whole big comment about your card, how you inspire me, good luck to Kim, etc and when I went to post it I got a message that I timed out. I’m too annoyed now to rewrite it so I’ll try later. Love and hugs.

  4. I LOVE this card today and have seen several people using Clearly Besotted but this was my fav. That being said, I found their website and looked up the stamp set you used. To my disappointment, it was not listed in ‘regular money’ and I couldn’t find any place to translate to American dollars. Is there a secret button to push on their site to do this? If not, how much did this stamp set cost? I could figure out the equivalents if I knew the value of this set! Thanks, Justin, and keep on making your cards; they are an inspiration to me!

    1. Thank you Kathy! I do really like Clearly Besotted! You can change the currency at the top of the web site to US dollars! They are pretty much in line with the rest of the companies! I’m so happy to be an inspiration!! πŸ™‚

  5. Hi Justin:

I too love the way you colored your card, especially the bottle. Those Zig pens are really fabulous and so easy to work with. Your rose looks spectacular! Many times I have tried making white on white cards and was never satisfied with them. Your card today showed me the “secret”. By using three different white card stocks the minimal color variations made all the difference in the world. Thanks for curing my problems with white on white for me. You continue to inspire me with your creations.

So glad to hear Kim get her new apartment. I have never heard of having to be accepted by a “board” in order to rent a place. Now is Kim just renting or did she buy the apartment? Around here if you buy an apartment it’s called a condo. I take it this means she will have to pay a monthly fee on top of any rent. My understanding is also that the “board” puts rules into place for everyone who lives in the building – is that correct?

It’s a pretty dismal day here today so the hubs and I are going to tackle a few chores neither one of us really wants to do. He is vacuuming the basement steps so that I can wash them down. That is a job I really hate. It will be good to get it over with. You have yourself a Tremendous Tuesday. Luv and Hugs, πŸ™‚

    1. Hey Grace!
Thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to redo your comment! The Zig pens are great and I love the look, especially the bottle! Yes, if you use different white CS I think it helps to differentiate the layers! So happy to help my friend!
Yes, Kim is over the moon that it’s finally almost over! She purchased the apartment so that’s why she had go through board approval, it’s a co-op. There is a monthly maintenance fee, I think that it was $900! Way too much for me!
Today was drab here too. So glad it was during the week! Better to have a day like that when I’m at work! No one likes cleaning especially stairs! Hope that you enjoyed your day! Love to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  6. Just gorgeous, as I stated in yesterdays post I’m just starting out with watercolors and love everything about it.! Yesterday was horrid here, heavy rains all day, seriously, non stop heavy. We have so much flooding, I live up high so it really didnt effect me, but we have so much damge here, especially south.

On a good note, Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup!!!! I am a hockey nut!!! Love my Hawks and love Lord Stanley! LOL Take care

    1. Thank you Linda! Watercoloring is so much fun and there are so many techniques! I’m sorry to hear about all of the rain and flooding that you are having. It’s not good but hopefully it will end soon.
YAY for your Blackhawks!! XO πŸ™‚

  7. This card is beautiful, Justin! Your watercolor technique is exquisite!
