SIP Challenge 2 – A Sketch from Me!

What a beautiful day it was here yesterday! In the 80’s with plenty of sun! An actual summer day! Work was busy, a typical Monday. I came home and had dinner, Skyped with Andrea while I made a card and then just vegged for the rest of the evening. A nice quiet way to end the day!

Today it’s time for the second Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! I want to thank everyone that participated in the first one, what an amazing collection of cards we had in the gallery! Now on to this week’s which is a sketch from me…

SIP Sketch Challenge 2

One of my favorite layouts! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Basic Black to the front with SNAIL. The main panel is a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, down the left side is some of the map washi tape from Michaels along with the road one that comes with it. I adhered the panel to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. My tag is cut from another piece of Neenah 80lb with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Dies. I stamped the image from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black and the greeting is from the “Vintage” Sale-A-Bration Set Big Day stamped in Real Red. Before I adhered the tag I took a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker and edged it to give it a little more definition. A piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine is tied though the top and then it’s adhered to the card with more SNAIL and Fun Foam. Three Recollections Enamel Dots complete the card. I love that map washi tape, especially paired with the card from the Guy Greetings set! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! Head on over to the blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery for a chance to be a pick for this week. Maybe you will even get audience favorite! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I wish you all a very happy Tuesday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I love this card – the design and the pop of red really sets it off! I have been following your blog for a long time now and have often wondered what you mean by “fun foam”. Would you explain, please?

    1. Thank you so much Jean! I’m glad that you are along for the ride. Fun Foam is the craft foam that you can get in the kids section at Michaels. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Perfect masculine card. Love the simplicity of it which would certainly please most men. Definitely one to CASE and adapt.
Same question as Jean re: how you use the “fun foam” and how/where you get it, color?
Hot, humid after lots of stormy weather overnight, now getting very windy with sun and clouds. Enjoy your day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Louise! I love that card and I think it goes really well with the Washi!
I get the Fun Foam or Craft Foam from Michaels in White, it come in 11×17 sheets and is 99 cents.
It was a humid one here today too, I’ll take it over snow any day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Good Tuesday Morning to you Justin:

Second SIP and you got to design the sketch! Yeah! I have never seen that particular Washi tape at our Michael’s. I love it – actually I love anything with maps of any kind and often use maps from the road atlases we have or pick them up at the information areas when we travel.
The reason I like them for background paper is you can put just about anything with them from cars to planes to animals, etc. and they look terrific. You did a super job with this card and yes, it is very, very masculine. Congrats on a great job Justin!

It rained all day yesterday and it’s raining again today. Great for reading a good book and I am reading Stephen King’s Finders Keepers. It’s a “can’t put it down” book and I’m loving it. The Hubs is headed off tomorrow for a week or so of car shows and cruises with his 1928 Model A truck and my oldest daughter and SIL are arriving on Thursday to spend the weekend so it should be an interesting week. He will have fun with his old truck and I’ll have a blast with my kids.

I hope you have a terrific week and a Tantalizing Tuesday! Love & Hugs my friend! XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes! It’s my blog so I get to have some fun now! I choose next week’s colors too! I love that Washi! I have to get more before it’s all gone! I too love maps and I have been looking for some old atlases to use. I’m going to see what I can find when I go to London in September!
It was hot and humid here today and rained a little, still better than snow! I tried reading Stephen King once and didn’t enjoy it. Sounds like a lovely week for the both of you! I hope that you enjoyed your book and your day! XOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I was hoping to fin out where you can get the thinlits for the Lovely as a Tree stamp set that I saw on you blog the other day. Could you let me know? Thanks

  5. Like so many of your viewers, I absolutely love the washi tape. I’m on the hunt to find it. Your design is perfect for a man card and the supplies are easy to find in my stash. Thank you Justin.

    1. Thank you Kathy! That Washi is great! I hope that you do find it! I need to get some more and hoard it! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Your design hangs together in such a unified way around the car theme . . . with the colorful map background and the black trim suggestive of the roadway. *So* fun, Justin!

    1. Thanks El! I do love that Washi Tape and I thought that the outlined card gave it a bit of a cartoon feel! ๐Ÿ™‚
