Sketched Blooms Hello

Hi there and happy Saturday to you! I woke up to some rain this morning, which was unexpected! It’s supposed to be in the 80’s today, let’s hope that those weathermen are correct! I had a nice Friday, it was National Donut Day so Marissa and I went to Dunkin’ Donuts in the morning. She got a box of Munchkins for the training that she was teaching and I got a coffee (not really a Dunkin’ coffee fan) but it came with a free Oreo donut, yum! When I got home from work (I departed at 3:30!) I sat down to make a card and Skyped with Andrea for a bit. Anthony and Bill came and picked me up at 6:00 and we headed to Costco. I needed to get some Crunchy Rice Rollers and of course found lots more things! $100 later and we were off to dinner at Fridays. Before they dropped me off we stopped at Target so Anthony could pick up a new stylus. When I got back to the house Taylor was here watching her Pretty Little Liars marathon (so did not expect that!). She left around 12:00 and I decided that it was time for bed! Last weekend Daniel and his parents went to the Long Island Live Steamers, it’s a place where you can go and ride on small scale trains and learn all about precision steam model making. In true Daniel style his mum had him dress the part. The picture was just too cute not share!

Little engineer Daniel! 🙂

I have a update about our friend DiesBy Dave. He has a Pinterest board that you can follow HERE. If you want to contact him you can click HERE and send him an email! 🙂

Now on to today’s card which I made and sent to a very special person as a thank you for a sweet little gift that I received! It was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest a while back. The base of the card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Some Washi Tape from Michaels is adhered to a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb along with a piece of paper from the Heidi Swapp Hello Today 4.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad. My tag is a piece of Smoky Slate that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Die and stamped with the “Vintage” Woodgrain Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. The flowers, leaves and greeting are all from the Clearly Besotted Sketched Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the leaves in Night of Navy and Smoky Slate on White, the flowers and greeting are heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder, the flowers on Vellum and the greeting on Night of Navy. To cut the flowers and leaves out I used the coordinating Sketch Blooms Die Collection. Some American Craft Navy Jute Twine is tied through the top of the tag and the tag is adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. The inspiration for the colors was the Washi Tape and I just love those flowers! I hope that you enjoyed my little thank you card for today! Have a super, simple Saturday and thank for sharing some of it with me! 🙂

  1. Justin,
How stinkin’ cute is your nephew in that outfit!!! Adorable!
    Thanks for the Dave update.
As always, I love the white embossed vellum flowers. They look great on the gray ‘wood’ tag!! The washi tape and gray leaves are perfect.
Have a great weekend. I’m teaching a card class this morning. I must WAKE UP!! Feeling a little drowsy.

    1. Hi Gerri!
I just love little Daniel and his mum makes him such a snappy dresser!
Dave said that I could give out his info!
Thank you! I really do love that set! The flowers and leaves are nice and different! Have fun at your card class! 🙂

  2. Daniel is the cutest little guy!
I now need all the Dave dies. I ordered a few a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to their arrival. Thanks for introducing that!

    1. Thanks Linda! He is a little cutie!
Dave has the best dies! Glad that we can get him again! 🙂

  3. Daniel is just the cutest. I am always so happy when you share his picture. Love all your cards. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks Judith! I love him! Glad that you enjoy the cards too! Hope that you are enjoying your weekend! 🙂

  4. Oh that Daniel– he is a killer! Your cards are always fantastic and you merchandise them so beautifully. Dave’s dies are so good; I have almost all of them (except the cats–not crazy about them) and always look forward to his new ones. I’ve used the Dahlia set over and over and they make spectacular cards especially with glitter and gems.

    1. LOL! He is a really cute kid Marsha! Thank you very much! Yes, Dave’s dies are the best! Glad that there is a way that we can contact him! 🙂

  5. Good Morning Justin!

What a lucky, lucky friend you have to receive such an amazing card. I just love it when you emboss on vellum. I am still having a bit of trouble getting that technique done perfectly but I’ll keep trying. I bet your friend has that card on display where everyone can admire it! I love that you arrange the twine so perfectly!

Daniel needs to be photographed for children’s clothing ads! He is just the cutest and his outfit for the railroad couldn’t be more perfect. His Mum must spend hours searching for just the right outfit for every occasion. Now, tell his Mum to save all these clothes and when he is older have a quilt made out of them. The hubs has one his sister made him from a lot of his toddler years. He can actually remember where each of the pieces of fabric came from and the occasion that he wore them on. For example, one square is made from the outfit he came home from the hospital in (he doesn’t remember that one or the one made from his Christening outfit) but he does remember the one made with his first day of kindergarten outfit. I did that with my girls and gave it to them as part of their wedding presents. These are treasures that can’t be duplicated.

No special plans for today. Like you we are supposed to have a nice sunny day but woke up to rain. Not even sure what I’m going to make for supper tonight. Last night I didn’t want to cook so we went to 99 Steak House. It’s nice once in a while to let someone else do the cooking AND the cleaning up. LOL

Have yourself a Sensational Saturday. I just know you’ll find something wonderful to do! Love and hugs! 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
The friend that received that card is an awesome person! They deserved an awesome card! I would be very happy if they liked it that much that they kept it on display!
I agree with you, Daniel just has such an enchanting little smile! His mum makes sure that he looks really sharp all the time! I will let Erika know about your idea, it’s a great one! I would have loved if someone had done that for me, although my mum liked lots of stripes when I was younger! LOL!
I did have a good day yesterday, not such a good night. Poor decisions! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed your day! I agree that it’s very nice to go out for a meal and have someone else do all the work! I hope that you are enjoying your Sunday! Love and hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  6. Oh my, how cute is Daniel as a train engineer!! I love your card with all the different elements and the vellum embossed flowers with the leaves going off to the left. I’m going to try it. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks HJ! I know I am biased but I think that he looks cute in anything! Glad that you enjoyed the card! Have fun with you craftiness! Hope that you are enjoying your weekend too! 🙂
