Waves Ombre Anchor, Card Class and an Extra!

Happy Father’s Day! I will be spending my day with Taylor and my Dad who is one of the most incredible people I will ever know. He is kind and giving, willing to help anyone out at anytime. I can only hope to be as awesome as my dad is and I’m sure that you feel the same way about your fathers! Yesterday was a rainy day here. I went and picked up Michael and we took the scenic route through some towns on the north shore including Cold Spring Harbor to get to Huntington. We had a particular destinations in mind, a little stamp store called The Moon Rose. We met the owner, Diana Kovacs, who also designs her own stamps. It was nice to look around and chat with her, she and Michael knew many of the same people. The store is small and cozy, It’s located behind an art gallery called FotoFoto, there are two tables for classes and plenty of nice bright lighting. Here are some pictures of the store…

And here I am with the owner, Diana. You can visit The Moon Rose Facebook page and show her some love by liking it!

After our visit to The Moon Rose we went to SmashBurger for lunch and then came back to my house and just relaxed. Later on we stopped by Michaels to see Taylor and pick up a few things, including some Chinese food for dinner. When we came back to the house Michael remembered that he need to make a card for his dad so he headed into the Stampin’ Galley and made a nice quick card. He is going to do a post about it today and I’ll add a picture of his card as soon as his post goes up!

My card for today is also a nice simple Father’s Day one. I used Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock for the base and adhered a piece of Night of Navy to the front. The main panel is stamped with the Hero Arts with Basic Grey Waves Background Stamp inked in Pool to Navy Hero Arts Ombre Ink. Along the bottom is a piece of Bermuda Bay. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders to create my waves along the top. My greeting is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Hero Arts Embossing Powder. I adhered some Fun Foam to the back of the panel and then adhered an MDF Anchor that I picked up from Michaels with Foam Tape. The top of the twine is tucked into a notched out piece of the Fun Foam and adhered with a Glue Dot. The panel is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I really do like that Waves Background Stamp, especially inked in the Pool to Navy Ombre Ink!

Glad to hear you and Taylor are spending the day with your Dad. It seems both your parents are very, very good to you and I know your Dad will appreciate that gorgeous card.

What a treat today. 4 cards in 1 post! I’m sure everyone that took your class was thrilled with the cards they made. I know I would have been and yes, I’m a bit jealous that I can’t come to the classes at Renee’s. Oh well. By the way, Mr. Trent is looking mighty handsome these days.

Enjoy your day with Dad and make it one he will treasure forever. Love and hugs! 🙂

The class did enjoy the cards! It really would be cool if you could come to Renee’s for classes wouldn’t it? I will let Mr. Trent know that you said that! I agree!

Hey congratulations on the new car, that’s exciting! Your cards are all beautiful by the way – the anchor is perfect for Father’s Day. Our Father’s Day is not til September, Mother’s Day is the same as yours. I had a full on weekend, headed to the city on Saturday at 6am with some girlfriends, had an awesome day. Hope the rest of your weekend is fun Justin 🙂 xoxo

  5. Lovely cards Justin – sounds like you’re having a fun time with your visitor. My daughter (10 years old) was just looking at your post and promptly announced that the ice cream scoop on your class card looks just like the tiny octopus in ‘Finding Nemo’ – take a look, I think she might have found a cool alternative use for you! Have a great day!

    1. Thank you Joanne! Yes, I am enjoying spending time with Michael! You 10 year is quite clever and tell her that I agree and am glad to know that I’m not the only one that saw that!! The world through a child’s eyes is the best! Hope that you had a good day! 🙂

  6. Hope you had a very happy Father’s Day, Justin! *Love* the sentiment on your Dad’s Day card, and your class cards are adorable! Wish I lived in the area so that I could attend.
