Fab Friday 68

Yesterday was a busy but fun filled day! I went with Michael to pick up Ken Oliver from his hotel around 10:30 and we headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to help him get set up. We took his first class which was an introduction to Color Bursts. There were 12 projects in all that we worked on and they were all fun! Here are some pictures of some of the projects that I did…

Michael, Me and Ken

Ken is a really nice guy and a fun teacher. It was great to spend some time with him and get to know him, hope to see him again soon!

It was nice having yesterday off too because I can’t believe that it ‘s Friday! It’s time for another Fab Friday too and this time we have a sketch…

Fab Fri 68 7-10-2015

This card has been in my head since Wednesday and I had already put all of the supplies out on my desk that I needed to make it! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used a piece of patterned paper from the Heidi Swapp Hello Today 4.5×6.5 Paper Pad and adhered it to the base at an angle. Next up is one of the Heidi Swapp Photo Frames, I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Lovely Spring Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on a piece of Vellum and adhered it to the back of the frame. Some Foam Tape on the back of the frame adheres it to the card and gives it a little lift. The feather is cut from some Washi Tape from Michaels and adhered to more Neenah 110lb with the Simon Says Stamp Feathers Dies. Another piece of Foam Tape adheres it to the frame and the card is done! This card was great not only because I had it all put together in my head but also because all of the supplies were ready to go! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Please take a minute to visit the blog and check out the other Design Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery. Thanks for visiting with me and have a fabulous Friday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin, Looks like you had a great day yesterday and . . . today is Friday! Double Yeah. The color bursts are very nice. I’m not to much of an abstract person, so I prefer the sun ray burst. I like the dots on the feathers and the triangles in the DSP on the card. I also like the vellum . . . works so nicely inside the slide frame.
    🙂

    1. Hey Nancy! I did have a wonderful day! I do need to remember not to go to work for one day though! LOL! I like all art, o much fun to make with the color bursts too! Glad that you enjoyed the card too! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin!
Great card! Love the way you used the embossed vellum in the frame. The feather is perfect!!

  3. Hi there, I just have to say how much I appreciate you submitting each day. I so look forward to your creations. Please, keep doing this!! I really think it would be “wonderful darling” if you recorded making each card, as for some of us, we sit down with our coffee and relax just watching these videos.
    So, thanks for your inspiration!!
    Joanne

    1. Hello Joanne!
Thank you!! And I appreciate you coming by to see what I’m up to! I am going to work on making a video to give it a try! If I actually did sit down and just make each card I might do that, but sometimes they take a little while! LOL! Have a super weekend my friend! 🙂

  4. This is a very nice card, Justin. The washi tape for the feather brings out the colors of the DSP. Embossing the vellum adds texture and a focal point in the slide frame. Nice job using the color bursts. Like Nancy Farrell, I too like the sun rays.

    1. Thank you HJ! Love a little feather! The Color Burst were fun to use and I can’t wait to try some new stuff with them! Have a super day! 🙂

  5. Awesome day off! I love seeing creations from those color bursts, so many blogs are showcasing them. I keep asking myself do I really need…..

Great card, especially love the washi tape feathers

    1. Yes, it was an awesome day off Linda! The Color Busts are fun but don’t have any air moving, they float around a lot! LOL! Glad that you enjoyed the card too! 🙂

  6. *LOVE* this card, Justin! To me, it is *so* modern artsy. The framed embossed sentiment on vellum over the designer paper creates a great accent and focal point. The feather die cut with the circles contrasts nicely with the triangles. Great design!
