Feather Silhouette Tree Note Card

Hi there! I’m super late today! I had a busy but awesome weekend so far! Yesterday I was in Manhattan with Michael for most of the day at The Ink Pad. We both worked on some projects and even got to meet a fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from Alexandria Virginia, Barbara Treese. She is up here on vacation and just happened to wander in to pick up some NY themed papers and embellishments to scrapbook her trip. It was very nice to get to chat with her. After we finished at The Ink Pad we headed over to Brian & Kim’s for a BBQ. Always good to see my peeps! Here is a picture of Me, Barbara and Michael…

And here is the project that Michael worked on using some Hazel & Ruby Reusable Letter and Ken Oliver’s Color Bursts…

He is going to turn them into note cards and they will be on his blog later in the week!

Now for today’s card, it’s a simple one that was inspired by something that I saw on Pinterest. My base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the image from Lovely As a Tree in Ranger Archival Black Ink onto a piece of EK Success Wood Sheet. Next, I took a piece of Basic Black and die cut the Mama Elephant Fair Feather’s Creative Cuts twice from it. My greeting is from the Mama Elephant Fair Feathers Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto the die cut panel. Some foam tape on the back of the panel adheres it to the card. I like the way the trees peek through the feathers and the simplicity of the card. I hope that you like my card for today and that you all enjoy your Sunday! Thanks for coming by today! πŸ™‚

  2. Good afternoon Justin:

I am in love with this card and the cut out technique. Absolutely Awesome! If you don’t mind I’d like to CASE this design! Since I’m working on Christmas Cards this week and I have a Christmas Tree die I think they will be pretty neat. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Glad you are getting to spend time with Michael while he is here from Brazil. How fabulous that fate brought another SU Demo into the store. Great photo by the way.

Disaster struck here today. The hubs was helping me do some cleaning over the wall units in the living room and decided to clean the light fan in the living room In this log home the ceilings go all the way to the roof rafters which is pretty high. While he was cleaning the fan blades a welded piece on the unit broke and the light came down. He already had a hold on it so it didn’t fall to the floor and shatter anything. So, he had to disassemble the entire thing and we had to go out and buy a new one. He is in the process of putting that one together and then will have to hang it – no easy task when it’s so high. Meanwhile the entire living room and kitchen are a disaster area. UGH! I sure hope you are having a better day than we are.
    Love and hugs! XO πŸ™‚

    1. Oh but Grace at least he did not fall and hurt himself! Have to be thankful for that. I love your idea for a CASE by the way and may use that idea too ( if Justin gives us his blessings of course ). Take care.

      1. Thanks Louise – yes we were lucky. I don’t like him doing this stuff because he is 71 however, he gets upset with me if I suggest he have someone do it. I think men are more determined to act 25 no matter what age they are! LOL The fan light is up and working perfectly. The mess will get cleaned up tomorrow.

        1. Yes Grace, we are! It’s genetic and there is nothing that anyone can do to fix that! πŸ™‚

    2. Hi Grace!
Still playing catch up! Of course you can CASE the card! I need to start my Christmas cards, hmmm… where to find the time?!
I am having the best time with Michael! It was quite nice to meet Barbara! She was great!
Cleaning can be dangerous! It’s good that it happened that way and didn’t just come down by itself! I hope that you got all of that straightened out! Love to you!! XOXOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Justin amazing card today. The trees peaking through the feathers makes this card so unique. Question…since I have the stampin’up feather dies do you think those would work with this technique? Assuming it took two trips through the big shot to achieve that cut. Yes I did look at the Mama Elephant dies to check sizes. Thanks for sharing your talent and inspiration with those of us less gifted.

    1. Hello Rosemarie!
Thank you! The feather dies from Stampin’ Up! Should work, I just wanted a little bit larger cut out. It did take two trips through the Bg Shot! You are no less gifted than I my friend! πŸ™‚

  5. WOW! his is beautiful simple elegance. Really love it. I need to copy this. OMG now I need the wood paper and thats breaking my rule of using up my new stuff in my box prior to buying anything……. Oh well I used 4 items this weekend, that qualifies for four new purchases right?

LOL have a good last day off

    1. Thank you so much Linda! LOL! I love those wood sheets! They die cut really nicely! I always break the rules! Yes, if you used 4 items that means that you can get 8 more! LOL! πŸ™‚

  9. Hi Justin, I am SO copying this card! It’s absolutely amazing! That lovely as a tree stamp set must be as old as life itself, but it is so good for all types of occasions and doesn’t seem to date. Great photo – looks like you guys are having an awesome time! I can’t believe we’re the same age Justin, I would have thought you were at least 10 years younger, lol! Hope your Monday wasnt too depressing after such a fun weekend! Cheers xoxo πŸ™‚
