Nautical Tags Birthday

A very good Sunday morning to you! I had a nice day in Manhattan yesterday, it was great to see Jim and Diane and catch up with them. After I left their house I met up with Kim and we went to a little Italian place called Felice for lunch and I had the best homemade ravioli! We stopped back at Kim’s apartment for a bit and then headed downtown. At 14th Street we said good bye and I headed over to the Westbeth Center to meet up with Barbara and catch up with her. There are some fun things in the works at The Ink Pad so stay tuned for more on that! I made it home from the city just in time to say goodbye to my Aunt and Uncle, it was great to have them here and they will be missed. This morning I’m headed back into Manhattan to work at The Ink Pad for the day so if you are around come by and say hello!

My friend Michael is on a roll, he has another post today for the Mojo Monday sketch! Some more really neat Halloween cards! You can check them out HERE! 🙂

My friend Danielle had asked me for a birthday card for her boyfriend’s dad’s birthday. He is a big boat fan so this is what I came up with. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Large and Small Tags dies to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and another piece of Seaside Paper. On the larger tag I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the bottom corners. Using the Simon Says Stamp Sailboat Die I cut the negative from the smaller patterned paper tag and then tied them together with some Hemptique Natural Hemp Cord. They are then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A piece of Smoky Slate is cut out with the middle size Simon Says Stamp Splashy Waves Die, stamped with Happy Birthday from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Night of Navy and adhered to the bottom of the tag. My anchor is a piece of Solar White 110lb that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Set Sail Dies and then covered in Versa-Mark and Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder, it’s heat set and then adhered to card with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Finally, a few red enamel dots from Recollections are added and complete the card. Danielle was quite happy with the card and I hope that the recipient was too! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card, thanks very much for visiting and have a simple Sunday! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin!

You couldn’t ask for a nicer birthday card for someone into boating then the one you came up with. Your friend will be thrilled for sure. That tiny bit of red really makes the rest of the card stand out. Isn’t it strange how a dab of a specific color can bring an entire card to a new level?

Sounds like you have another fun day planned for today. I hope the weather on Long Island is as beautiful as it is here today. The sun is shining brightly, the leaves are turning, there is a slight breeze and it’s in the 40’s but supposed to end up in the low 60’s. Absolutely the most perfect time of the year (to me anyway)! LOL You enjoy this Stupendous Sunday my friend. Love and hugs, XO 🙂

  2. That is really, REALLY nice. It has such a rich look to it. I’m sure the recipient is going to absolutely love it! Happy Sunday to you and good luck on the job situation.

  3. I love this card, Justin, with all the different elements, especially the platinum anchor. I’m sure the recipient will enjoy it.

  4. What a great Nautical card, I’m sure he loved it! Went to breakfast today with some old frends, nothing much else planned for today. We shall see what Mojo brings. Flippin cold here, just broke down and put the heat on…..way to early

    1. Thank you Linda! He did like it a lot! Spending time with friends is the best, isn’t it?! Thankfully it’s not too bad here yet! Not looking forward to Winter! Stay warm! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin,
Sounds like you are back to your old active self.
Love your nautical cards! This one is no exception. Great colors too!

    1. Hello Gerri!
Yup, glad to be running around again! Glad that you like the card too! Thanks! 🙂
