Paper Players 269

Wow! I can’t believe that it’s Thursday already! I had a nice day at Scrap-A-Latte yesterday. I started the cutting for Renee’s Advent Class and got some of my own stuff done too. My friend Paul stopped by to see me and we got caught up. When I got home I had some stew that mum had made and then ran over to BestBuy to pick up the new Apple TV. From there I met up with Louis and we ran over to Century21 so he could return some things and then we stopped and got Starbucks before heading back to my house to play with the Apple TV. It’s pretty neat and easy to set up, you use your iPhone and it transfers all of the settings to the Apple TV. We were watching movie trailers, videos and YouTube in no time! This morning I have to work on finishing up my prep work forΒ tomorrow night’s class at The Ink Pad. Speaking of The Ink Pad, Barbara wrote a nice little article up about me and I’m featured on their blog! Click HERE to take a look!

My card for today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #269

I haven’t done any watercoloring in a while so I did some on today’s card. The card base is Recollections Ivory 110lb Card Stock with the entire front covered in a piece of paper from the Midnight Magic 6×6 Paper Pad. The strip down the left is a piece of Canson 140lb Watercolor Paper that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I then gave it a good coat of Royal Langnickel Burnt Umber and then used a paper towel to take off some of the color. When it dried it had this really cool authentic wood look! I used some Tombo Extreme Adhesive to adhere it to the card. My panel is another piece of Watercolor Paper cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Giving Thanks Die and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Next up are my leaves that are also cut from Watercolor Paper using the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Leaves Lawn Cuts. I used Yellow Ochre, Vermillion, Crimson Red, Violet and Deep Green to paint on the colors layering the paint a few time before adhering them to the card with Glue Dots. A little sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins across the leaves completes the card! I love the way the leaves and “wood” look watercolored and that Giving Thanks Die is neat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks for your time today! Have an interesting Thursday! πŸ™‚

  1. HI Justin:

Boy, that wood really does look like a piece of wood on your card. The watercolor did bring out the “grain”. Very realistic for sure. I too think that Giving Thanks die is so very cool. Do you save the negative letters to use in other cards?

I have never heard of the Apple TV. Is it small, big and why would anyone need it since you can watch TV and movies on your phone right? Don’t you be laughing at me – I know I am old and electronically challenged but I am trying to make sense of it all. The first TV our family ever had was the first one in our tenement building and it had an 8 inch screen and was in black and white. When I was in my 30’s we got our first color tv and it had a 21″ screen. Since then T.V.’s have gotten bigger and bigger and we now have a 44″ HD TV and love it, so it doesn’t make sense to me that now people are watching TV on a tiny little screen on theie cell phones. I mean really?

You have yourself a Terrific Thursday my friend and enjoy your day. Luv ya, XO πŸ™‚

    1. Hey Grace!
Love the way the wood came out!! Thank you! The die is neat, love the word/card dies that Simon has! I do save the negative letters!!
I love Apple TV, and now it has SIRI (so you can talk to the TV!)! It actually hooks up to your TV and you can do all sorts of things with it! I like having it on the “Big Screen”! I agree that I’m not a fan of watching things on my phone, too small!
My Thursday was good and I hope that you had a good one too! Love you!! XOXO πŸ™‚
