Paper Players 275

Well, that was avery long but fun day in Manhattan! I took the 7:01 train out of Bethpage and got into Penn Station around 8:00, late as usual. I headed over to Isabella’s and spent the morning with her, always a good time. Her brother is staying with her so I got to meet him, very nice guy. Around 1:00 I headed down to meet Kim for lunch. We went to this little place by her office and I had a delicious sandwich with grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce and olive oil. From there I went over to visit with my friend Barbara, the guy at the front desk in her building called up and said that she wasn’t there so I sat in the lobby. Around 4:25 I got a message from her asking if I got stuck somewhere and I said that I had been in the lobby since 3:50. She came down and got me and had a word with the guy at the front desk! We had a nice visit and are going to have lunch in January. After I left there I headed down to The Ink Pad to get ready for my Tags class. One of Michael’s friends from Brasil is in Manhattan and she came to the class. We had a nice time as always. Here is a picture of the happy class working on their tags…

And here is a picture of Carol and I…

TIP Carol and I

After class Carol waited with me because she was going the same way as I was so we took the Subway together and I made sure that she headed in the right direction back to her hotel. I made the train at Penn by 1 minute only the get home late because the were delays due to an unauthorized vehicle on the track in New Hyde Park. I finally got home around 11:00, had a cup of coffee and went to bed!

Thankfully I had made my card for today’s post on Monday night and it’s for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #275

Traditional Christmas colors! My card starts with a base of Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the front with the Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrops Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed itΒ with Ranger Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. Down the right side is a thin strip of Cherry Cobbler. Across the bottom is a piece of The Paper Cut Ice Gold Curious Metallic that I cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills Craft Dies. My greeting and trees are from the Hero Arts Joy to the World Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and then adhered the slope to the card with Foam Tape. The trees are heat embossed with more Silver Pearl on Mossy Meadow and cut out with my Paper Snips. The tree trunks are Soft Suede and they and the middle tree are adhered to the card with SNAIL. The other two tress are adhered with Foam Tape and that’s my card done! I love that Silver Pearl Embossing Powder, so subtle yet neat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! I’ll have the tags that we made in class for you tomorrow! Thank you for visiting with me today! Have an amazing Thursday! πŸ™‚

  1. Wow…that was a long day. Even I was exhausted after reading about your whole day. Glad Carol enjoyed the class and thank you for taking care of her. Now, about this card…I absolutely adore this card. Love the simplicity of the triangle trees with a snowy background on a hill that any child in New England would love to slide down. Great job. πŸ˜›

    1. Yes, it was a very long day! I have the blisters on my feet to prove it! LOL! Ouch! Carol was great and I’m glad that I got to meet her! Wait, you like the triangle trees?! You really must not be feeling well! LOL! Ha ha! I can see the sled going down the hill now! Thanks!!! πŸ™‚

  2. I agree with Michael that this is a great card. I too love the font of the sentiment and the three trees . I’m thinking it would be a great design for my cards for next year and I could begin those in the summer by punching lots of trees, diecutting lots of “merry” and “christmas”, then assembling them. You are always inspirational. Thanks.

    1. Thank you so much HJ! I do love the fonts in the Hero Arts sets this year! It’s a simple card but it was fun to make! I love that I inspire!! Thanks again! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Sandy! I really like that Silver Pearl Powder and the Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrops set! πŸ™‚

  3. The sentiment font is beautiful and the curve of the hills are so graceful. Great inspiration for next year’s card. Now if only I could get started in the summer as I always want to do…Have a great day and get a little restorative rest. Hugs, Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! Yes, the fonts in the Hero Sets are my favorite this year! I never get started with my cards! I always say that I will too! I got to rest a little so I feel much less tired today! Hope that you are having a great week! πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Justin,
Great card!! Love the trees and the snowy slope. The Falling snow background is perfect. LOVE it!!!

    1. Justin,
I was out all day shopping etc. It was pouring rain all day. I got home and saw my mail sticking out of the mailbox in the rain. Everything was pretty well soaked. I saw an envelope with your name on it (I had ordered the bluejay card from your etsy shop). Thank God you wrapped the card in a plastic envelope. It didn’t get wet at all.
I have to tell you that the card is even prettier in person. I just LOVE it. You need to put more cards on etsy.
      Thanks so much.
      Gerri

      1. Hi Gerri!
Glad that you had a productive day! I’m so glad that I put the card in the plastic!! Thank you so much for being my first customer!! I think that the pictures sometimes don’t do the cards justice, so happy that you really love the card! I am adding new cards to Etsy all the time!! Thank you again!! You’re the best!

        XOXO πŸ™‚

    2. Hello Gerri!
Thanks so much! Love the Simon Says Stamp Slopes and Hills, you can have them stitched or not and the Silver Pearl EP is my favorite! πŸ™‚

  5. This is just a fantastic card Justin. I know using traditional colors on Christmas cards is not your favorite but even you have to admit that on this particular card they look amazing. I have noticed this year that a lot of cards I am receiving are dimensional and I just love it. Having raised images just puts this card several levels above the norm and really make it outstanding.

So glad you had a good day yesterday. I’m with Michael – got tired just reading about it. You have yourself a Terrific Thursday. Gray and rainy here today. Love and hugs! XO πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you very much Grace! Yes, I’m not a fan of red and green but the colors are great with all of the white! I think that a little dimension to a card makes them so much better!
It was a long and busy day but it was great! I love getting to see everyone and being busy all day! Makes the day fly by! It was rainy here all day yesterday too, but still warm so I’ll take it! Love to you my friend! XOXO πŸ™‚

  6. Justin,
