Winter Wonderland Ornaments & The Ink Pad Tags Class!

Sunday… the day of… rest?! Nah! I had a restful Saturday instead. I got my laundry done and did some crafty things, snuck in some TV. I love when I watch a movie and it makes you think, and not what you would expect to think about either. Anyway, today I’m off to Manhattan to hang out with Barbara at The Ink Pad. It’s going to be another chilly day, only in the 40’s! Where did those 60’s go?! They say they will back in a few days and I’m looking forward to their return! What’s on for you today?

My project that I have to share with you today is another ornament, this time a shaker! I cut some Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the Papertrey Ink Scene It: Basic Backer Die. The background is a piece of Black 110lb Card Stock cut with the Papertrey Ink Scene It: Skyscapes Dies. I adhered it to the backer with Multi-Matte Medium. Another piece of Solar White 110lb is cut out with the Sizzix Circles Framelits. I cut it in a little less than half and then stamped my greeting from the Hero Arts Winter Scene Photopolymer Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. My skyline is cut out of some Silver Glimmer Paper with the Mama Elephant Cityscape Creative Cuts and also adhered with Multi-Matte Medium. I added some Martha Stewart Chunky Glitter and then adhered the ornament half to the backer with more Multi-Matte Medium. A piece of Hemptique Black & White Baker’s twine tied through the top give me something to hang it on my tree with! I really do love making these ornaments and the Scene It Dies make is super easy! I hope that you enjoyed my ornament, they are funΒ to make and I hope that you will try one!

  1. Good Morning Justin!

I have got to get up to Michael’s and get some of those ornament frames. You have really got me going in the right direction here. I know my friends would love to have some homemade ornaments because we were talking at the party I attended about just that subject. We all concluded that our favorite ornaments on our trees are the homemade ones. This despite the amazing collection of ornaments we all seem to own. I know both my girls would love to have ornaments similar to yours recognizing NYC. And since I only have 11 projects on my “to do” list right now I’ll find a way to fit this project right on the list. So, that as #12 it should only take me a year or so to get to it! LOL

The tags you made at class are just adorable and since we all need tags at this time of the year the class was well timed. I know it seems to me I always run out of tags just before Christmas so it seems I can never have too many of them.

Busy day today. Lots to do to prepare for our trip. You have yourself a Superb Sunday my friend. Love and hugs, XO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I think that I’m going to try to make some ornaments for my friends tomorrow! You are right about them meaning a little more than anything that you can buy! You can make your NY ornament with your skyline die! There really is never enough time to get everything done is there?!
I thought that the tags class was a good idea too! They all had fun in class and I can’t wait for the next one! I really do enjoy teaching classes, especially at The Ink Pad!
I hope that you got all of your stuff done! I’m off to Manhattan again today to hang out with Anna! Love you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  2. Oh, what fun tags, and I love the saying of the cupcakes and happiness! What is A. C. Moore? Is it like Michael’s? I am now inspired to get these frames and put these ornaments on my summer list. I will look for the frames after Christmas. Your NYC scene tugs at my heart. I so miss it and love it. Some day I will get back there again! Being laid off seems to totally agree with you. You seem so happy with your new creative life. I can’t believe all the new products you are using. Have a great Sunday! Hugs, Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! Yes, that’s a great greeting on the cupcake tag! Yes, A.C. Moore is just like Michaels! I picked up a few so I can make some for friends tomorrow! Wish me luck! LOL! I am really fond of the NY one too! I do love the city! Yes, I am much happier, just need to make a little more money! I need to stop buying so much stuff too! LOL Hope you enjoyed your day! Hugs to you my friend! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, I know! It’s because I laid the tag down flat! Have to remember to use something with them! πŸ™‚

  3. Hey Justin, these tags are just adorable, the animals are so cute, and the way you coloured the cupcake is amazing!! I see you’re cooling down a bit over there – we are doing the opposite, Saturday was 113! That was ridiculous! Well, keep warm Justin, and have a great week xoxo πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thank you! I did have a lot of fun making the tags and the coloring on the cupcake was the most popular! Yes, it has been cool but we are supposed to warm up to the high 60’s on Christmas Eve! Yay! 113 is a little hot! Stay cool my friend and feel free to send some of your warmth this way! XOXO πŸ™‚

  4. The Christmas ornament is stunning, and the tags and the pillow box are just too fun, Justin! I would have loved taking your Tag class!!! Wonderful coloring technique, too.
