Freshly Made Sketches 221

Happy Friday peeps! Yesterday I ended up covering the store for Renee, she needs a day off every once in a while. I worked on a mixed media project while I was there and I hope to get to finish it today. This morning I have to clean out the old car and take it to it’s new owner. I had some good times in that car and it will be missed. I also have to get ready for my card class at The Ink Pad tonight. That will be fun as always. After Scrap-A-Latte I went to Heather’s for thirsty Thursday, loads of laughs with my peeps! One of my favorite evenings of the week! Not sure what’s on for the weekend, how about you?

Today’s card that I have for you is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 221

I used some goodies from this month’s Simon Says Stamp Card Kit to make it! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For the background I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of paper from the Crate Paper Hello, Love 6×6 Paper Pad and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I cut out another piece of Black 110lb with two of the dies along with a piece of Vellum. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Hello, Beautiful Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto the Vellum. The frame is then adhered to the Vellum and I used some Foam Tape around the back of the frame to create the space for my shaker. A fewΒ Crate Paper Hello, Love Sequins Hearts are placed on the card and the frame is adhered over the top. I think that funky paper is pretty cool and I love how the vellum makes all of it so subtle! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks so much for coming by and have a fantastic Friday! πŸ™‚

  1. Love the stunning colors, and the black frames set it off perfectly. Great change of pace to use vellum for the shaker portion.

  2. The black frame really does look like leather to me. I like the simplicity of this one Justin and, of course, the fact that you made it a shaker card. Hearts to shake up for Valentine’s Day? Absolutely perfect!

Glad you finally sold the old car. That should make life a little easier for a bit. Thirsty Thursday must be a national thing going on because my friend in Port St. Lucie, FL celebrates Thirsty Thursday as does my friend in Arizona. I get together with friends Thursday afternoons but we are only drinking coffee or tea.

You have yourself a Fantastic Friday and enjoy your class tonight. Love and hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Grace! I like the way that you see it as leather! The hearts are a fun little addition!
Turns out that the car wasn’t ready to leave as you will see in today’s post! Sometimes things just don’t go the right way for me! Thirsty Thursday is the best! If it isn’t a national thing it should be! Coffee or Tea is just as good! I hope to have a better Saturday my friend! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  4. Hey Justin, this card is just gorgeous! I love the pink patterned paper, it’s perfect for the card – and the sentiment is awesome too! Hope your snow is melting, we have had a few rainy, cooler days – nice to have some relief from the heat πŸ™‚ xx

    1. Hi Kelly! Thank you! I wasn’t too sure about that paper but I ike it with the Vellum! The snow is melting, slowly, but going! I would take all of your heat, send it over please! XOXO πŸ™‚

  5. The word “groovy” comes to mind when I see this card. Not that I was born yet when that word was popular! Goodness, no! I think I just watched too many afternoon reruns of the Brady Bunch when I was growing up. ha! I love the fun colors in this paper, and as usual you rock the shaker card! It’s always good to see you in the gallery at Freshly Made Sketches!

    1. Yes Amy, the word groovy came to mind for me too! I too am guilty of the Brady Bunch reruns and Austin Powers! LOL! Thank you! Have a super week! πŸ™‚
