Offset Thanks Shaker

SNOW! I hate snow! It’s snowing here and is supposed to continue doing so for the rest of the day. I don’t plan on leaving the house today at all. I did have a very nice Friday! I went and met up with Heather and Brian and we headedย to IKEA to get Heather’s new bed. We dropped it off at Heather’s house and picked up the table and chairs and Stephanie and headed into Manhattan. Kim’s new building is nice because you can at least stop outside to take things into her building, the old one was on Second Avenue with the Subway construction, no place to stop! We put the table together and set it up before stopping at Isabella’s to pick up some things and then we headed downtown to go to lunch. After having some parking meter trouble we finally got the car settled and walked over to A Salt & Battery. It’s an actual real English Fish & Chips Shop. They all had cod and chips and I had a banger and some chips. I also had one of my favorite English sodas, Tango! Lunch was delicious! On the way out of ย the city we discovered that Adam was working on 56th and 6th so we stopped by to see him for a bit. He is working on a new series for HBO called Divorce starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Hayden Church. We got to sit in the sound room and listen and see them filming a scene. So much fun! Here is a picture of the lady doing the sound and our badge!

So much fun to get to do cool unexpected things! Once we got back to Heather’s I put the bed together and then some of her family stopped by and we had pizza for dinner. I came home and watched a little TV, I was a little tired after the long but fun day! I’m hoping the we don’t get as much snow as they are saying, fingers crossed!

Today I have a fun little shaker card for you! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of paper from the Heidi Swapp September Skies 6×6 Paper Pad along with a piece of Solar White 80lb. I then used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares and Bundle of Stitched Shapes to cut out the window and the angled top. A piece of Acetate and some Foam Tape around the back helps to keep the confetti that I got from Target on clearance after Christmas in place. A pair of feathers are cut fromย some Solar White 80lb that I inked with Simon Says Stamp Catkin and Scuba Ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. The dies are Simon Says Stamp Feathers Craft Dies. A random button has a piece of American Crafts Bright Green Basics Hemp Twine tied in a bow and then adhered with the feathers using some Glue Dots. My greeting is cut from Night of Navy and Solar White 80lb with the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Craft Die. I adhered them together and then coated it with Versa-Mark and then Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder before heating it with the Heat Tool to give it the Licorice look. Some Multi-Matte Medium adheres it to the card. I love the greens and blues along with that nice shiny greeting! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope that your weather is a lot better than mine! Have a snow-free Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I think the snow is a perfect excuse to stay in and get cozy and crafty. Especially with these crazy winds! Sounds like you had a fab day yesterday–how fun! Amd you especially deserved it after being so sweet to help your friends put their furniture together.

    1. Yes, the snow is a good excuse to stay in and get crafty Leah, but I do like the option of leaving the house! LOL! We did have a good day and I’m glad that we were out all day, especially after having to be in all day yesterday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Justin, you are indeed getting dumped on with heavy, wet snow. No two ways about it!!!
On the other hand, you did s great job on your shaker card. I’ve never really mastered that technique. You nailed it!!!
Stay safe and warm and I hope you don’t lose power.
Warm and dry here in Prescott, AZ,
    Nola

    1. Yes, we did get a ton of snow Nola! Glad that you like the card! I love making shaker cards! We didn’t loose power, now to try and dig out today, that will be fun! NOT! Wish I was where you are!! Have a good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You had an enviously great day yesterday! That badge is a keeper and an inspiration for a card.
My husband just came in from plowing our private road! I hate the snow. It’s so dangerous and limiting. The fire is roaring away in the fireplace, and I am upstairs trying to get my uncle’s birthday (98th) card finished so it can go out in Monday’s mail. Here’s to the power staying on!!!
Love your shaker card today. It’s been a while since I’ve seen your feathers. Have a great indoor day. I’ll bet you get a lot accomplished. Stay warm and perhaps make some angels in the snow with Taylor and Daniel when you can get together. Nancy B

    1. Yes, I had a fun day indeed Nancy! I am with you, I absolutely hate snow! Hope that you power remained on and that you got your card finished! Glad that you enjoyed the card! I have missed the feathers! LOL! I was very lazy yesterday, mostly TV watching! I think that no one will be sining around for a while! It’s going to take forever to dig out! Stay safe! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin:

Nice to see you haven’t disowned your feather dies! LOL I agree with Lea, Nola and Nancy -you did have a great day yesterday! AND this is a fabulous card. I’m loving the way you get your word dies to cut and look like leather, ooops, I mean licorice.

Sorry you’re getting bombarded. We are going to miss this entire storm. Strange, I’m the one who love snow, your the one who hates snow and your the one getting it all. Looks like Manhattan is really going to be dumped on also. Hmmmmmm, maybe if you hate snow you should move up here to Maine????? LOL

Stay in, stay safe and be sure to help your Dad clear out his driveway and any sidewalks. I’m sure he would appreciate that very much. So, try to have a Super Saturday making cards or watching a movie or reading a good book. Hopefully you won’t lose electricity. Love and hugs and WARM wishes for you my friend. Love and hugs from snowless Maine – XO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, I have missed the feathers too! LOL! You can call it whatever you like, it’s a fun technique and makes the die cuts really pop!
Yes, we got a ton of snow, way more than we know what to do with! I would have been happy to send it all up to you! Even CT didn’t get much!
I had a very low key day, I accomplished almost nothing and I regret it now! Dad likes to work alone with his snowblower. I need to start reading again and watching less TV! The electric stayed on and I can’t wait for all of the snow to melt! LOL! Love and hugs to you! I’m jealous of your lack of snow! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Super fun card, Justin! Love the colors you used – such a great pop of color for a snowy, wintry Saturday! It’s been interesting to watch this storm develop especially since my area was not supposed to be impacted by the storm (according to all the weather pundits earlier this week as well as NOAA). All that changed this morning with the issuance of a winter weather advisory which was then upgraded to a warning not even 6 hours later because of the way the storm was moving north. So much for hoping to not have to get the roof rake, shovel and snowblower out.

    1. Thank you Christy! I love the blues and greens together! I hope that you weathered the storm and didn’t get as much as we did! Stay safe and warm! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. No offense, but I’m so glad its the Eaat Coast and not midwest! Although I do worry about the SE and Washington. at least we are use to the snow and can function, they will be in disress for quite a while. I hope its not as bad as they predict. I’m getting some tomorrow night into Monday, sick of it!

what a gorgeous creation! I love your colors! And of course the feathers. what type of acetate do you use. I’m running low, never thought to check Amazon.HUbby is up North snowmobiling, not my cup of tea so I stayed home.Getting a couple of chorse done and will do something crafty. and need to watch Everest. take care

    1. Well, thanks Linda! LOL! We here in NY don’t know what to do with all of the snow anymore! Everything was closed yesterday and will probably stay that way today!
Thank you! Yes, I missed my feathers for sure! I get my acetate from Amazon, here is the link:
      http://www.amazon.com/Grafix-Clear-Plastic-Thickness-12-Inch/dp/B001K7Q6Z0/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1453643562&sr=1-4&keywords=acetate
It’s a good thickness and it’s relatively cheap! Everest, what a fitting movie! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Well, here in Delaware we have been hit with about 15″ and counting. It’s not finished yet. The worst part is really the high winds that blow it everywhere creating these high drifts that are impossible to move without major equipment. Oh, well, the good news is we have kept our power all day. Now to your cute card, Justin. I love the feathers and of course the angled shaker is too cute.

    1. The winds were definitely the worst part HJ! We have 5 ft drifts all over the place! Glad that you didn’t loose power! Glad that you like the card! I definitely missed my feathers! ๐Ÿ™‚
