Paper Craft Crew 182

It’s Wednesday and after a day filled with rain and gale force warnings followed by a 4 hour power outage the weather has finally settled down here! I had Daniel for a little while in the afternoon and we sort of watched Home but he kept getting distracted by the jellybeans, lollipops, pretzels and chocolate that I have in the house. I never realized how much junk food that I possess, but he quickly pointed that out! The rain stopped for a bit so I took him out for a ride on his bike, halfway down the block it started to pour so we ran back to the house! He had his hands over his eyes while I pushed and steered! After I gave him back to my parents I went over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee and her son Nick was there so he and I played some Heads Up! He’s pretty good! On the way back home Heather called so I stopped by her place and got her and we ran to BJ’s and then went back to her house and watched some TV. This morning I’m heading into Manhattan to see Anna for a bit and then go and pay my friend Isabella a visit!

If it’s mid-week then that means that it’s time for another Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS182 DT Sketch 2-17-2016

I went with a nice simple birthday card! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares to cut out a piece of paper from the My Mind’s Eye Essentials:Wood 6×6 Paper Pad. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL with a piece of Hemptique Natural Hemp Cord spooled and tucked behind the upper right corner. Three feathers are cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Feathers Craft Dies from Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Hello, Beautiful Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder on a piece of Black 110lb. I adhered the greeting over the feathers with Foam Tape. The button is from an ancient sequin pack that I got from Target forever-ago, I tied another piece of the Hemp Cord in a bow and adhered it to the card with a Glue Dot. To give the card some shine I added a few Hazel and Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle and Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine and Mossy Green Sequins to the wood panel. I do love the simplicity of the card and the rustic feel that the hemp cord and wood paper give it! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge! 1. Terrific card! I think the bottom of the feathers poking out a little take away the girly feeling of a bow. Great for a man!

    1. Thank you Patti! I think that card has a nice masculine feel to it too, even with the bow! 🙂

  2. Very nice, Justin! Love everything about this card….. the colors, the design, the “wood”, the feathers, the sequins….perfect combination!

    1. Thank you so much Jeanne! I love that “wood” paper and the feather’s well, you know I love those! 🙂

  3. Great card, Justin. We all need masculine cards and this one fits that bill. I have a wood DSP and also a wood EF that I haven’t quite figured out how to use. Now with your inspiration I have to get to work. Thanks. Have a great day. At least the weather is nicer today.

    1. Thanks HJ! I love anything woodgrain! Glad that I gave you some ideas! Yes, the weather was a lot better yesterday and is even nicer today! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  4. OMG what a fun day with Daniel, especially the junk food. I honestly love the east coast and would love to move to the Boston area, but I’m having second thoughts, Your wather for the past few years has been interesting…..it makes Chicago winters seem nice.

Awesome card, love the colors especially the wood grain paper

    1. LOL! Yes, it was a really fun time with Daniel! I love to load him up with sugar and then give him back! LOL! The weather here is a little crazy but I think it’s pretty much the same as you get!
Thank you! I love that paper too! 🙂

  5. Just lovely! I sure wish I could do the spooled hemp cord and make it look right. My attempts end up looking like a spool of thread gone WILD! 🙂
