Peeps Sugar Shaker

Well, it was a little cold here yesterday but nice and sunny! Today we are supposed to get up into the high 40’s and tomorrow we should make it into the 50’s! I spent most of the day crafting. In the afternoon I had to run to Michaels and pick up some felt for a project and Taylor was working so I waited for her to get off work and her mum came up to meet her too. I stood and talked to Leigh for a while, we haven’t seen each other since the summer. After that I came back home and FaceTimed with Andrea and finished some projects. Heather stopped by and picked me up around 4:45 and we ran to BJ’s and Target. When she dropped me off I had dinner and then I watched Pink’s The Truth About Love concert on MTV2. I would like to fly around the audience like she does! LOL! This morning I’m off to Manhattan to visit my friends Jim and Diane. After that I’m going to go down to The Ink Pad to drop off my Hero Arts cards and see Barbara for a little bit before I head back home.

I got my Simon Says Stamp Monthly Card kit the other day and a card popped into my head so that’s what I have to share with you today. My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used my MISTI to stamp the background with the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripes Background Stamp in Lake Shores. To make my frame I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched and 4 Bar Stitched Rectangles to cut out another piece of Solar White 110lb, Acetate and a piece of Solar White 80lb. The Acetate is adhered to the frame with Scor-Tape and then I added a layer of Foam Tape to the back of the frame. My Peeps are from the Simon Says Stamp My Kind of Peep Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped also with the MISTI in Simon Says Stamp Teeny Bikini, Mint Candy and Duckling. I used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out. I tried a few different ways to add some “sugar” to them and wasn’t happy with any. You can see them here:

The middle one was the best but the clear glitter was still a bit too big. Instead I added the glitter to the shaker. I adhered the Peeps to the backing piece with E-Z Runner, filling in their eyes with a Black Gel Pen, and then added the glitter to the framed piece and adhered the two together. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Onyx Black and added to the acetate with Foam Tape. Finally the shaker is adhered to the card with more E-Z Runner and the card is done. I wanted it to look like a box of Peeps and I guess that all of the sugar has fallen off of them?! LOL! I hope that you like my card for today! Thank you, as always, for taking some time to come by and check in! Have a stupendous Saturday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin, thanks so much for your kind words – and also to Susan K and Grace!! It’s like I have my own little support group from the other side of the world, I’m a lucky girl, you’re all very sweet 🙂 This card is seriously cute Justin, looks like the marshmallow lollipop my daughter bought today, covered in sugar! Have a great weekend XOXO

    1. That’s what we do Kelly – Support each other and share our talents. Hope each day brings you more joy then the previous one.

    2. Yes, you do have your own support group here Kelly! Glad that you like the card! I hope that you had a great weekend! XOXO 🙂

  2. That card is so cute! Now I want that set! Can I blame you for all my excess stamps? Wait. What am I saying? There’s no such thing as excess stamps! I wonder if Wink-of-Stella would “sugar” it up enough?

    1. Thank you Ann! LOL! Sure, you can blame me if that makes you feel better! LOL! Not, no such thing as excess stamps! I didn’t think the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen was sugary enough! 🙂

  3. So, so cute, Justin. I love the different color “peeps” and the perfect sentiment in a shaker with sugar. That would make anyone’s day to receive it. Yay for great weekend weather. Enjoy it!

    1. Thank you HJ! It was so fun to make all of the little peeps! Today is supposed to be really nice! Have a great day! 🙂

  4. Thanks for doing all the experimenting for us Justin. Often it’s nicer knowing what doesn’t work as what does – saves on paper. LOL Anyhow, I think the card is so very sweet (yes, pun intended). The bunnies are just the cutest ever. Each Easter I buy a small box of peeps. They are for me to play with. If you put two of them fairly close together on a paper plate and stick them in the microwave for 35 seconds or so, it’s a riot to watch what happens. After you stop laughing you need to eat them while they are still hot and sticky! YUM. Yes, I know, I need to get an actual life – or that’s what the girls tell me every year when I get my peeps. They told me I won’t be able to do that when I end up in “the home”. You have yourself a Serendipitous Saturday. Love ya, XXOO 🙂

    1. You’re welcome Grace! I will still look for something else, I think they can look better! I’ll have to give your little experiment a try! I do love a peep! Oh no! That’s not nice at all! I think that doing little silly things makes us much happier! We need to do stuff like that from time to time! I loved my Saturday! Hope that you had a good one too! XOXO 🙂

  5. Not fair! My kit still has not come and I am impatiently waiting. Love this kit and your card s awesome. I wanted the background peeps die but waited too long to order. I’m trying so hard to be good and use what i have but its so hard.

Gorgeous here I went out to breakfast with a dear friend from grammar school, 3 hours later we gave our booth up.

    Take care

    1. LOL! I was shocked that my kit came as quickly as it did Linda! I think that it’s a great kit too! Fun and different! Love that you get all of the dies too! They keep coming out with more and more awesome stuff, how can you not want more?! Isn’t it great to catch up with old friends?! Have a super day! 🙂
