Freshly Made Sketches 228

Hi there! I hope that you had a nice week and are ready for the weekend! My day yesterday was great! I went over to Heather’s for lunch, we had Subway. After that I stopped by to see Daniel for a bit, he was being shy again! LOL! My friend Sue stopped by my house for a bit and we got all caught up, she also picked up some things that I had for her and Michael. Around 4:00 I made my way over to Scrap-A-Latte for class. One of the students came early and worked on her cards while I finished cutting. Renee and I had Wendy’s for dinner, you just can’t beat 4 for $4! It’s a very budget friendly meal! Brian was nice enough to bring me a Starbucks Flat White, he’s such a good guy! Class was loads of fun, we had some new students and some regulars! We lost the sock die from thy Loads of Fun Set for a little while but it was found stuck to some Washi Tape! By the time we all got finished it was 11:00 and time to head home. Today Jen Starr is teaching a class at the store so I’m going to go over and take a peek!

The card that I have to share with you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 228

I went super clean and simple! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. The panel is the same and I partially die cut the thoughtful withΒ the Concord & 9th Being Class Dies to leave it hanging off the right side. MyΒ greeting is then stamped in Onyx Black from the Coordinating Concord & 9th Being Class Photopolymer Stamp Set. Next I heat embossed the Concord & 9th Tree Ring Photopolymer Stamp in Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder on a piece of Baked Brown Sugar and then cut it out with my Scissors. It’s held to the front of the panel and the top and left sides are cut off. I then lined up the die again and cut out the negative from the Tree Ring and adhered it to the panel with Foam Tape. The panel is then mounted to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. I love the simplicity of the card, it may be one of my favorite ones ever! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for coming by to see me today! Have a stupendous Saturday! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Anita! I like the simplicity but the sentiment takes it up a notch! πŸ™‚

  1. So cool! Love how you’ve placed the sentiment, and I love how clean this card looks. Fabulous card, Justin!

  2. Hold on Justin – did I miss something? Where are the cards you made in class? I like the masculinity of this card a lot. It’s also a great design to have on hand for those “oh oh, I forgot to make a card” occasions! I must say I also admire the stamina of you and your class members for hanging in there until 11:00 P.M. in order to finish up! I probably would have fallen asleep right there in class. LOL

We may or may not get a ‘nor’easter Sunday into Monday. Seems even the meteorologists aren’t sure. So, we prepare in case we get it. Gas for the generator, birdseed and suet for the birds. Our pantry is always stocked so that is no big deal. Are they predicting that storm will hit Long Island? It would be nice if it misses all of us. You have yourself a Super Saturday my friend. Love and hugs, XO πŸ™‚

    1. LOL! No you didn’t miss anything Grace! They are posted Sunday, today! I actually love the card, the negative die cut is cool but the card is still very clean! Not everyone was there until 11:00 and some of them were fading by the end!
We are in the same boat as you! I would like it if it misses all of us too! It’s the first day of Spring! Not right! I had a great Saturday and am looking forward to The Ink Pad today! Hope that you have a fun day too! Love and hugs back at ya! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. That tree stamp is stunning! And i love how you ran the sentiment through the stump. Simple, stunning

  4. Hey Justin, sorry I have been AWOL, we went on a little holiday to the Gold Coast, in a beachfront high rise apartment – only 8 nights, but it came just at the right time, and was a really nice break. I could sit and watch the ocean forever! That, and episodes of The Property Brothers – endless home renovations… I was in Heaven, lol! Anyway – back to reality today, and I love this card! The way the tree trunk is shaped around the sentiment is awesome, great job! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend Justin πŸ™‚ xx

    1. Hi Kelly!
Sounds like a great reason for being AWOL! I would love to have been in that beachfront apartment! Glad that you like the card! I had fun making it for sure! I am loving my weekend, hope that you are too! XOXO πŸ™‚

  5. For a simple outcome there seems to be quite a bit of work involved every bit of it worth the finished result.

    1. LOL! Thanks Barb! Yes, it was a little bit of work but I really like the way it came out! πŸ™‚

  6. Wonderfully simple and so much fun with the “thoughtful” cut out of the tree rings! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    1. Thank you Kim! I loved making the card and I’m glad that you like it! Have a wonderful week! πŸ™‚
