Global Design Project 28

Happy Friday my friends! It was a little chilly here yesterday and today we are supposed to get rain. I’ll be at Scrap-A-Latte for the day so Renee can have a little time to herself. Yesterday I crafted in the morning with Andrea via FaceTime and then went over and had lunch with Brian, Kim and the kiddies. When I got back home I saw Daniel for a little bit and then continued crafting. Around 7:00 Heather called and asked if I wanted to take a ride to IKEA to get a new desk withΒ her so I gladly went. I put the desk together when we got back to her place and then updated her Mac for her. I also installed the software so that she can scan wirelessly. That made her a happy girl! I really do enjoy spending time with my peeps more than anything else!

For today’s card I thought that I would try out a new challenge, the Global Design Project

GDP028 Jess Williams CASE

I took some of the layoutΒ from the card and made a fun little peeps wreath! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Solar White 80lb and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to add a little Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue to serve as a backdrop for my wreath. The panel is mounted to a piece of Black 110lb and that is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The wreath is cut from some Tim Holtz Watercolor Card using the Simon Says Stamp Chisholm Wreath. I added some Gathered Twigs with an Ink Blending tool and adhered it to the card with Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. My peeps are from the Simon Says Stamp My Kind of Peep Photopolymer Stamp Set. They are heat embossed in Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder on more Watercolor Card and cut out with the Coordinating Dies. To color them in I used Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron Distress Markers scribbled onto a clear acrylic block and picked up with a wet paintbrush. I adhered them to the wreath with Foam Tape and added the eyes and noses with a Black Glaze Gel Pen. A few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine, Lime Sorbet and Sparkling Clear Sequins are added to the wreath in between the peeps. Finally my greeting, also from the same stamp set, is stamped in Onyx Black in the lower right corner. I still am loving those peeps and they look pretty neat watercolored! I hope that you enjoyed my first card for the Global Design Team Project challenge! Thanks for stopping by and have a fun filled Friday! πŸ™‚

  1. Made me smile – I needed that reminder of spring after the snowstorm we got yesterday – thanks!

  2. This is fantastic, Justin! Love the way you used the little peeps on the grapevine-y wreath. I wouldn’t mind having a wreath like that IRL! πŸ™‚ Best wishes for a great weekend – hopefully it gets a little warmer today for you on LI. It was definitely an odd weather day with cooler temps on the eastern part of LI and near 60 inland.

    1. Thank you Christy! I love that wreath! I hope that you have a great weekend too! It wasn’t too bad yesterday, the sun did peek out and it did stop raining. Yes, the weather is definitely odd! I hope that you have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  3. Happy Good Friday morning,
How cute is this? I just love those little bunnies, and the peeps. Enjoy your day! Hugs, πŸ™‚ Donna

    1. Hi there Donna!
Thank you! I hope that you had a good day! Hugs to you my friend! πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Justin:

Absolutely, positively, no question about it! I LOVE this card! The soft colors, the peeps, the wreath – all put together so perfectly and the icing on the cake is the beautifully placed sequins. I don’t see how this card could be any more beautiful than it is.

Are you doing an egg hunt for Daniel on Sunday? I bet he really would have fun with that. We are having a gathering of friends whose children also live “away” in other states. It won’t be the same as being with all family but we will have a great time of celebration anyway. We did the same thing last Easter and it worked out great. A holiday is not a holiday without friends and/or family. I hope your holiday is wonderful. Love and hugs to you my friend……XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you very much! I do love that wreath and the peeps are fun!
I’m not sure what is going on for Easter Sunday. It sounds like you will have a nice time with your friends! I think that maybe I will be home, my parents may go to Erika’s parents. It will be a good day no matter what happens! Love and hugs to you too! XOXO πŸ™‚

  9. Such an adorable card, Justin. Not only is it a beautiful wreath with those funny little Peeps, but the blue in the background and black stripes really sets it off. Thanks for sharing with us at Global Design Project.

  10. Hi Justin,
I was wondering if you would be interested in selling My Kind of Prep stamp set and die?

  11. I didn’t check spelling before I sent, it should be Peep, but you probably figured that out.
