I had a very low key relaxing Easter. My parent’s went to my Sister-In-Law’s parent’s house and I stayed home. I crafted, boy did I craft! I made four cards! I would have made more but I kept taking TV breaks! LOL! I also managed to get my laundry done! I was a pretty productive day despite the laid back feel! I hope that you all enjoyed your Easter and that you either had a nice quiet relaxing day like me or got to spend lots of time with family and friends!
It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…
Yup, I played with some new goodies! My card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the entire front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. I used the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Strip Background with some Simon Says Stamp Thistle Ink on a piece of Solar White 80lb for the left side of my background. It’s adhered to another piece of Solar White 80lb and that is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The main panel is another piece of Solar White 80lb. I stamped the flowers form the Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers Photopolymer Stamp Set in Simon Says Stamp Thistle and Hot Mama and Hero Arts Grape Juice Ink. The leaves are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Lucky and Green Leaf. I adhered it to a piece of Black 110lb and then that is adhered to the card with more Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My circle is cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Lawn Cuts and the butterfly is from the Hero Arts Butterfly Pair Stamp and Cut Photopolymer Stamp Set in Mot Mama. The die is cool because it cuts out the wings but leaves the body attached. I fluffed up the wings and adhered it to the card with E-Z Runner and Foam Tape. My greeting is from the For You Flowers Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Black 110lb. I adhered it to the card with more E-Z Runner and Foam Tape tucking some of it under the butterfly wing. Some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear, Amethyst and Shamrock Sequins are adhered with Multi-Matte Medium and complete the card! I absolutely love the flowers especially in the purples, I haven’t used purple in a long time! I hope that you enjoy my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Very cool card, Justin! Purple and green are a classic color combination, especially when done like you did. Otherwise, sometimes it gets a little Joker-like and scary! 🙂 The striped background is super cool and I love the contrast between the flowers (soft) and the graphic stripes (hard). Hope you have a great Monday!
P.S. Glad you had a productive day yesterday! I did as well – made three cards (amidst TV and household breaks as well). 🙂
Great layered flowers and choice of colors! Glad you had a good Easter. We all need some laid back time every now and then. I played around with watercolors this weekend – some results better than others but it is so relaxing.
Thank you Carol! Yup Easter was good, hope that your’s was too! I need to start using my watercolors! It definitely is relaxing! 🙂
LOL! I didn’t even think of that Christy! But you are right! I do love that striped background, it is great for so many things! Sounds like we had the same kind of day, we need more of those! 🙂
I love the colors on this card, especially that Hot Mama! The butterfly was the absolute PERFECT touch. This card screams summer and your use of the bit of black couldn’t be more striking. Can you tell I love this one? LOL
Had a great Easter gathering at our house. Good food, good friends and lots of relaxing. We all topped everything off with a chocolate bunny and we each ate the ears first just like when we were kids. Wishing you a Magnificient Monday. Now that you have the laundry done you can relax and enjoy the day. Love and hugs, XO 🙂
Thank you! I do like the Simon colors and they have some cool names! I needed some warm!

Hey Justin, glad you had a relaxing Easter weekend! My daughter was away on a camp so I decided to paint her bedroom. We last decorated it when she was 5 and she will turn 18 this year! She was so surprised that she cried – good tears, Lol! It was worth the hard work 🙂 I love your card – the purple and green are a cool contrast, and you are clever to mix the floral and stripes, looks so good! Back to work today, hope you have a great day xox
