Just Because Butterfly

Well, they said that we were going to get snow yesterday but thankfully we didn’t! It was rainy and cold for most of the day. When I got into Manhattan it was still pretty nice so I walked down to The Ink Pad from Penn. It’s nice to get some exercise first thing in the morning! We had a busy day and I got to meet lots of people from all over. Most today were from Mexico, Argentina and Brasil. My friends Kim and Maggie stopped by too! Anna and I got finished up right at 7:00 and I made the 7:12, I was home by 8:10! Dinner last night was a nice big salad with croutons and Buffalo Ranch Dressing! Yum! I even found a Hard Ginger Ale in the fridge! I spent a little time crafting and then watched some TV before calling it a night. Today I’ll be heading back into Manhattan for another day at The Ink Pad, this time with Jane!

Today’s card is one that was stuck in my head all day! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the entire front covered in a piece of Black 110lb. For the background I used one of my all time favorite papers, Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. The main panel is a piece of Neenah Desert Storm 80lb. I heat embossed the butterfly in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Hero Arts Butterfly Stamp & Cut Photopolymer Stamp Set and used my Prismacolor Pencils to color it in. It’s cut with the Coordinating Die, which is neat because it leaves the body attached and only cuts out the wings! I stamped my greeting from the Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Onyx Black and then tied a piece of Papertrey Ink Natural Hemp Twine in a bow around the lower half adding a dot of Multi-Matte Medium under the bow to keep it in place. The panel is then adhered to the card with E-Z Runner and some Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst, Pansy Purple, Orchid and Pink Peony Sequins are added to give the card a little movement! I always love the way colored pencils look on kraft card stock! I hope that you like today’s card! Thank you so much for your visit today! Have a simple and fun Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Hey Justin, what a pretty card! Not an ounce of scary about this butterfly! What’s up with your weather? Aren’t you heading for summer? We are cooling down here, I dug out my fluffy slippers this week, and bought some new boots – for now it’s nice in-between kind of weather. Busy week ahead, starting with a dentist appointment tomorrow – UGH! Hope your week is awesome πŸ˜‰ xox

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thank you! So glad that you don’t find the butterfly scary! LOL! Mother Nature is extremely confused here! We had nice weather and now Winter is back! I’m over it! Hope your dentist appointment went well! Hate the dentist! Hope you too have an awesome week! XOXO πŸ™‚

  2. I love butterflies and your card is so awesome, Justin. I love the desert storm paper, the pencil colored butterfly, the cool DSP and the beautiful PPP sequins. We got snow yesterday, but it was the fun kind where it is on the grass and trees, but not on the roads and no shoveling required!! I like that! Have another great day in the City.

    1. Thank you so much HJ! Love that butterfly set and the colored pencils on the kraft is neat! Glad that you had fun snow! LOL! I don’t mind that kind of snow either. The city was fun, have a great Monday! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Justin:

Beautiful card today as always. I too love butterflies and that die is really great. Hero Arts has some really great sets out lately. The colors are fabulous and I think it’s a riot that you have sequins to match every color of ink or paper that you own. Too funny.

Glad you had fun at The Ink Spot yesterday and I’m sure today will be just as much fun. Do tour buses stop in an area close to The Ink Spot or something? Is that why the place has such a diverse group coming in on the weekends? Whatever it is I’m glad that the store is thriving. I wish someone would open a stamping store around here again. We used to have 3 within half an hour of my place but they have all closed. Now I have to get all my supplies over the internet which is fine except for all the shipping fees I end up spending. Oh well – you have yourseof a sensational Sunday my friend. Love and hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you! Hero Arts has some really cool stuff, especially the Color Layering sets! I do have a lot of sequins but I need more! LOL!
The Ink Pad is always a good time! The store is in a really good location and NYC is filled with tourists! People need to support local stores and stop buying online! That’s why they are all disappearing. It’s much nicer to go into a store and touch and see the products! Hope you had a great Sunday! Love and hugs to you! XOXOXO πŸ™‚

  4. Beautiful creation as usual. I love your color choices, Sounds like a wonderful day at The Ink Pad, that was the best thing about living in Chicago, the diversity. The Northern subarbs dont have quite as much. Cold gloomy today. Hubby and I just came back from brunch, we shall see what today brings. Yesterday was an awesome creative day, used two new stamp sets, and a die which I’ve had forever. LOL, my new stuff stash is still overflowing. Take care

    1. Thank you very much Linda! I have been into purples a lot lately! They have been neglected for too long! The Ink Pad is always a fun day! I do love being in the city and yes, the diversity is the best part! It has been pretty cold here and I’m way over it! So happy that you had a nice creative Saturday and got to play with new goodies! We all have the overflowing stash issue! πŸ™‚
