Mojo Monday 442

What a fun weekend I had! Yesterday it was incredibly windy in Manhattan! Kim and I walked to the Subway together in the morning and it’s good that we were together so that we could stop each other from blowing away! I had a lovely day at The Ink Pad with Jane. The heat was shut off in the building so it was a little chilly in the store. We set up some heaters and had to keep the door locked because it kept blowing open! When we were dome for the day I managed to make the 6:12 and was home by 7:10! Love when the commute from the city takes less than an hour! when I got home I had a little crafting to do and I ran over to my friend Christina’s house to help her with her iPhone. Today I have a few more projects to get through and some errands to run. Hopefully it will be a little bit warmer and a lot less windy!

What better way to start of the week than with a Mojo Monday sketch…

I have a little bit of an aversion to busy backgrounds but I thought that I would give one a try today and see what you think! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the entire front covered in a piece of Night of Navy. The background is a piece of paper from the Crate Paper Flea Market 6×6 Paper Pad. Next up is a piece of Rose Red that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares Craft Dies. On top of that is a piece of Mint Macaroon and that is adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The flagged strip is a piece of So Safron and I heat embossed my greeting from the Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. I then cut out another piece of Night of Navy with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Craft Dies and adhered that to the card with E-Z Runner. Myย flower is a piece of Canson 140lb Watercolor Paper cut out with The Ton’s Petal Cut Peonies Stand Alone Dies. I used some of my Finetec Metallic Watercolors to paint it and then adhered it to the card with Multi-Matte Medium. A few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are added to break up the Mint Macaroon and add a little more sparkle. I love that flower, especially all glitzed up with the Finetec Watercolors! I hope that you like my Design Team card of this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the BLOG and see what the rest of the team has to inspire you! Don’t forget to add your creation to the gallery! Thank you for beginning your week with me! Have a marvelous Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. This is a beautiful card, Justin, with the pretty floral background paper, the two solid cardstocks and the the metallic watercoloring on die cut, plus the sequins. Love it all. I don’t have this diecut but I do have a rose I could use to CASE this card. Have you used Stick It? It is a double-sided adhesive product (I got mine at amazon.com), which makes adhering the flower so easy. I got the idea from Susan Itell, a SU demonstrator. I find I’m a little messy when using liquid adhesive. lol. Stick It is especially nice when inlaying pieces back in the flower or using fragile word dies. Check it out and see what you think. I’d like to hear your thoughts on it. Thank goodness the wind has died down. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you HJ! I’m happy with the card, like I said, not a busy background fan but it’s not bad! LOL! I actually prefer the Spray Adhesive to Stick-It. I have some but the release paper annoys me! It’s rainy here today but a lot less windy! Yesterday’s wind was crazy! You have a great day too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. HI Justin:

Well, the background paper is a bit overwhelming for me but some people really love a busy background. You did manage to end up with a great card. AND, the message combined with all the flowers is perfect.

Glad you had a great day again yesterday. It was super windy here also and the cover for our grille ended up in the woods so I had to send The Hubs out to play detective and find it and bring it back home. He did well.

Hope you have a Magnificent Monday. It’s still really cold here so I will spend the day playing in my craft room. Love and hugs, XXOO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I wasn’t to sure about the background but I don’t mind it too much! Glad that you like the card! Thanks!
Yes, any day at The Ink Pad is a good day! A lot of people lost power and there were things all over the place here too! Your hubby is soooo good!
I am enjoying the laid back day today after a very busy weekend! I’ll be doing some crafting too! Love and hugs back at ya! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you very much Julee! Thanks for the awesome sketch as always! Have a wonderful week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I am with you Justin, not very crazy about such busy backgrounds. However, it seems to be toned down with the solid colors you selected to use along with the fabulous rose die. Great card.

    1. Thank you Sue! I think that solids definitely helped that background be a little more subdued! The Peony Die is fun! Hope you are having a great week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I’d love to know what kind of set up you have for using the spray adhesive. I use a box but it gets sticky after a few projects and my project end up sticky on the front side. Ugh!! I wonder how “professionals” like yourself make it work.

    1. I use a box for my spray adhesive HJ! I let it dry in between projects. I have been using the same box for a few months now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi Justin,
Love your Peony die and always love the extra touch the stitched dies give. Pretty card!

    1. Hey Gerri!
Thanks! I love that die too and the stitched dies give just that little amount of texture that makes a big difference! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I love how you brought the colors of your background into the die cut images which are the focus of the card. Gorgeous, Yep, I too am not a fan of busy backgrounds but this works.

Weekends always go by so fast. We had winter here Saturday so I stayed in, yesterday was busy, got old craft goodies dropped off for a garage sale, breakfast with hubby, errands and then playtime.

    1. Thank you Linda! I think that as long as I have a good amount of solids it makes the background a little less busy too!
It was just weird here over the weekend! Friday was 70 and then Saturday was rain and Sunday was crazy windy! Sounds like you had a very nice weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Thanks, Justin, for your answer. Letting the box dry is probably the answer. Have a great day!
