Flowers and a Butterfly for You

Yup, it was yet another overcast day here yesterday. It has been so long I have forgotten what the sun looks like! I worked on some of my project in the morning and then went over to see Daniel and my Parent’s for a little while. Daniel had a really nice track suit on and I asked him if I could have it, he said flat out no! LOL! After my little visit I headed over to Heather’s. She dropped her iPhone and shattered, and I do mean shattered, the screen. She found a Groupon for a place in Hicksville, not too far from us, to get it fixed so we headed up to drop it off. For lunch we decided on SmashBurger since it was across the street, delicious as always! The phone was ready in 45 minutes and we headed back to her place where I proceeded to take a 20 minute nap! It must be the weather! Taylor text me to let me know that her and Kiera were at my house so I came back home. Taylor went to the Dr. and she has to have her tonsils taken out. That doesn’t sound like fun. Around 5:15 I headed over to meet up with Sue so we could run to Michaels to get a few things for her daughter’s graduation party. By the time I got back home it was 6:45 and time to go out to Friday’s with Anthony and Bill for dinner! We saw our favorite waitress Meg, she’s off to Cancun for a few days! Lucky!! When I got home after dinner I worked on my card and watched the end of Guardians of the Galaxy. Today I have lots to accomplish, I hope it’s a productive day!

My card that I have to share with you today is a just for fun one. I wanted to do some masking and the card evolved from there! My flowers, leaves and greeting are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Let Love Grow Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the flowers in Bubble Gum, Ultra Pink and Raspberry Jam and the leaves in Forever Green masking them as I went. The centers are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the greeting. My butterfly is from the Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Bubble Gum, Raspberry Jam and Memento Tuxedo Black. I used the Coordinating Dies to cut out the butterfly and the body and adhered the body with Multi-Matte Medium. The panel is adhered to a card base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with a strip of paper from the Teresa Collins Something Wonderful 6×6 Paper Pad down the left. I used Fun Foam and E-Z Runner to attach the panel and a strip of Scor-Tape to adhere the butterfly. Some Glossy Accents is added to the butterfly body and the flower centers and the card is done! I do love the of look of the masked flowers and the greeting is just perfect! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today! Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today! Have an amazing Saturday! πŸ™‚

  1. Hi! Such a pretty card, especially the masked flowers. I should do that more. I like the Raspberry Jam color — what a fun name.
Keep us up to date about Taylor’s tonsils. I still have mine! As for everything else in me, I am having a surgical procedure on the 17th to see if it relieves the pain in my hip. All the tests I’ve have lately came back negative. Hooray!!! The medical establishment really puts people through the mill with their step by step procedures, and don’t you go out of their order.
Have a great Saturday! Hugs, Nancy B

    1. Hello Nancy! Thank you! I need to mask more, I love the look of it! The Raspberry Jam is definitely aptly named! I still have all of my parts too and I will let you know how Taylor’s removal goes! I’m so glad that all your test are negative and I hope that the procedure works! They do like to poke and prod don’t they?! You have a super Saturday my friend! XO πŸ™‚

  2. Beautiful card, Justin. I love the bright flowers and butterfly, the sentiment and the background striped paper. Good luck to Taylor with her tonsils. Nancy Baxter, I hope your surgery goes well and solves your hip pain. I’ll keep you and Taylor in my prayers. Have a great weekend, Justin.

    1. Thank you HJ! I do love that sentiment and the butterfly is my mum’s favorite, might just be her Mother’s Day card! Thanks for thinking of Taylor, I’m sure that she will be fine and won’t get sick as much after this! You have a fabulous weekend! πŸ™‚

  3. Love your design and the colors on this card. It is so bright and cheerful.

    1. Thanks very much Carol! With all of the rain I need bright and cheerful! πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Justin!
Hang in there… I think the weather is supposed to break next week. Not toasty warm, mind you but a little better.
Your card is beautiful!! Love the way you raised the panel with fun foam.

    1. Hello Gerri!
Yes, I think that you are right but only for a day or two and then rain again! Ugh! LOL!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the card now go and have a fun Saturday! πŸ™‚

  5. Love, love, love, love this card! First of all, you did a fantastic job with the masking. I need to do that more often. Then the colors are fantabulous and that green for the leaves really makes the pinks pop. Butterflies always enhance a card in my opinion and the Raspberry Jam ink is the perfect accent for the pinks. WOW!

Got up late today and I think it’s because it’s another blah, cloudy day. Yesterday the sun shined bright and it got up into the 60’s so NO WINTER COAT NEEDED. Hooray! I’m leaving next Friday to spend 10 days with my girls and friends so I have lots to do here. The hubs is at his first car show of the year and you couldn’t wipe the smile off his face this morning.

Nancy – will be thinking of you. Justin how close are we getting to your reveal? Have yourself a merry little Saturday and stay busy (as if I have to say that LOL). Luv and hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Grace! I do love masking and am glad that I have rediscovered it! The Hero Arts Inks are nice and bright and the butterfly is just fun!
I got up late yesterday too and yes, I think that it may have something to do with the weather! Sounds like you are in for a great time!! Aww, hubs does love his car shows!
By the end of the month for the reveal! I hope that you had a nice day and a very happy Mother’s Day!! Love and hugs from me! XOXO πŸ™‚

  6. Beatiful! Love those colors, I do not need any more inks but those colors are beautiful!

The rain missed us, YES!!! but the temps dropped, but I will take 60’s and sun any day. My daughter came home to surprise me for Mother’s Day. I took my mom and my daughter out to breakfast and then we hit my favorite nursery and we did some damage on flowers and garden accessories. FUN! OK, I’m bad, I just did some major on line craft shopping, everyone has great sales today, hard to resist. take care

    1. Thanks you so much Linda! The Hero Inks are great! Like any of us need more ink?! LOL!
Glad that you avoided the rain! Aww, what a nice surprise!! Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day! Yes, the sales are good but I have been really good! Have a wonderful Mother’s Day! XO πŸ™‚
