Mojo Monday 454

And off we go to the start of another week! I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend! It was just Angie and me at the Stamp, Ink, Paper inside Scrap-A-Latte Store yesterday. We got lots done, I even made a card or two! I worked on my upcoming classes and added a few more in August and September. We have my buddy Ken Oliver coming to teach in August, that should be fun! When I got home I had dinner with my Parents and then ran to Target to get some things that I forgot the other day. I really to make a list instead of thinking that I can remember what I need! I get easily distracted in that store! LOL! The rest of the evening I did some computer stuff and then just relaxed for bit! I needed that! Today I have to work on my newsletter for the store and make sure that I get ahead on my cards for the week too! One week that will actually happen!

The start of a new week always means a wonderful new sketch from the Mojo Monday blog…

Mojo454

I inked up a new to me set for today’s card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of White Gold Curious Metallic Card Stock. I wanted a subtle background just not a white one! The large partial circle is a piece of Desert Storm 80lb that I heat embossed the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain Background on with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. To cut out the circle I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Lawn Cuts and adhered it to the card with E-Z Runner. Across the lower half is a piece of yes, you guessed it, Gold Mirror Card! I flagged the left side before adhering that to the card. A piece of Black 110lb is cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Lawn Cuts and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My flower, leaves and berries are all from the Altenew Peony Bouquet Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the flower in Blush, Rouge, Crimson and Velvet Crisp Ink and the leaves in Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen Crisp Ink with my Mini MISTI. They are all cut out with the Coordinating Dies. On the leaves and berries I used my Versa-Marker to draw on some lines and colored in the berries and then heat embossed them with more Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. The leaves and berries are adhered to the rectangle with Multi-Matte Medium and the flower with Foam Tape. Finally, my greeting is from the Altenew Label Love Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder on Black 110lb and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I’ve said it before, I love a woodgrain background with a flower, I just think it looks so nice! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Take a minute to stop by the BLOG and see the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you for beginning another week with me! Have a magnificently marvelous Monday! 🙂

  1. Justin, this card is stunning! I love the bold colorful flower!

I have to say that every Monday morning I read all of the posts by the design team for Mojo Monday and yours always makes me tired! You fit more into one day than most people do in an entire week!

I also appreciate your detailed explanation of how you create your cards … it’s like getting a free class!

    Happy Monday!

    1. Thank you very much Dodie! LOL! I am a very busy boy that’s for sure, even more so lately! But I do enjoy it all!
I’m glad that you enjoy the posts! It’s nice to know that someone reads the whole thing!! Have a great week! 🙂

    1. Thank you Betty! I love that stamp set too! Little details are so much fun to add! 🙂

  2. Great card! I love your design and choice of colors and the Altenew stamps.

    1. Thank you very much Wanda! I do think that woodgrain and flowers looks so awesome together! Have a fantastic week! 🙂

  3. What a beautiful card, Justin. I love the bright flower with the woodgrain circle and of course, the gold mirror banner. Thanks for the second photo which shows the bling. Great job of layering the colors of the flower. You always make it seem so easy to pull so many elements together to make an awesome card. Have a great day.

    1. Thank you HJ! I think that Altenew has some of the nicest flowers out there! I needed the second pic, I wish that you could see it in the first one! I hope that you had a super duper Monday! 🙂

  4. Oops! I hit Post before I clicked on getting follow-up comments. I love to read what everyone has to say about your cards and your responses. That’s what makes us a community of far-flung friends, right??

    1. LOL! I think that the comments are the best part! I love talking to each of you and the fact that you all “know” each other is awesome! Yes, we are a fun community of far-flung friends for sure! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin:

I honestly thought you cut the flower, etc. from a magazine until I read your “instructions”! I love my mini Misti but haven’t tried the multiple stamping yet. I also love the fact that Hero Arts has the coordinating mini inks to match their stamps. Takes a lot of fussing out of color combination questions out of the picture. This card is just so beautiful and you know I love the fact that you used the gold mirror card stock. Also, the touches of embossing on the leaves and berries is just enough. Love it!

Hot and sticky here today. You would love it I’m sure. You have yourself a Monday filled with laughter, friends and hopefully a new niece or nephew to top it off! Love & Hugs, XXOO 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Aww, thanks! Nope, Altenew has some really detailed florals! I do love my MISTI, it makes lining things up so nice and easy! The coordinating Hero Inks are a great idea! Love their inks and their Color Layering sets! So glad that you like the card!
It has been really nice here, not too hot, but hot enough, just perfect! No baby yet, they are taking their time! Love and hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  6. Absolutely gorgeous peony flower. Very clever too to use embossing powder to make the leaves and berries pop. Great card 🙂

  7. WOW! Need I say more…… I especially love the Altenew Peony Bouquet, and how you embossed the veins pf the leaves. Really stands out, i need to remember that.

    1. Thanks Linda! Yes, I love that set too! The leaves were a fun addition! Hope the painting is going well! 🙂
