Freshly Made Sketches 250

A very happy Saturday to you! It’s a very happy one for me… I’m off today! Yippee! Not that I don’t love being at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store but seven days a week, my house gets very neglected! So what am I doing today… you guessed it! Cleaning! What a fun way to spend the day! NOT! But it needs to be done. I did have a good day yesterday. The morning Card Class was great! Peggy bought her granddaughter Emily and she was fantastic! I snuck out early and met Taylor when I got home. We took a quick ride up to Michaels and she showed me the store reset that they did. Even less scrapbooking and stamping stuff, good for me! Andrew came by around 7:30 and we left to go and have dinner. We were going to go to the Noodle Company but decided to have Swedish Meatballs at IKEA instead! I haven’t had them in a long time! Still delicious and so inexpensive! We wandered around and I got some new sheets and a comforter. On the way home we stopped and got some Carvel and then came back to my house and got all caught up! So good to spend time with Andrew! It’s been way too long!

After Andrew left I sat down and made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 250

The card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I heat embossed part of my greeting from the Altenew Big World Photopolymer Stamp Set onto a piece of Black 110lb in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. The rest of the greeting is heat embossed onto a piece of Blue Print Curious Metallic. I adhered the Blue Print to the Black with E-Z Runner and trimmed off the overhang before adhering it to the card base. The globe is from the same set and is stamped in Persian Blue, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades Crisp Ink using my Mini MISTI. I cut it out with one of the Sizzix Circles Framelits along with a piece of Fun Foam and adhered them both to the card with more E-Z Runner. It wouldn’t be a space themed scene without a overdose of Pretty Pink Posh Gold, Silver, Sparkling Clear, Marshmallow and Cobalt Sequins and a few Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars! Only Altenew could make a color layering globe look that good! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for sharing some of my day! Have a super Saturday! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin!

I love the way you put this one together. “You Mean the World To Me” with a globe and stars! LOL Could it be any more perfect? I think this would make the perfect Valentine’s Day card even though it isn’t red and gold. The hubs would score big points if he gave me a card like this for sure.

Glad to see you are having a day off. We all need that time to regroup no matter how much we love what we do. It’s another perfect weather day here. The sky is bright blue without a cloud in sight, there is no humidity and there is a slight breeze. No one could ask for better then this. The hubs is at a car show for the day so I will spend some time designing a quilt for my niece and nephew’s 25th anniversary Since math is NOT my favorite thing to do I need the quiet to design the quilt or it will be all wonky when it’s done! You have yourself a Satisfying Saturday. I know you’ll feel great once the house is cleaned and you get caught up! Love and hugs to you my friend. XXOO 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
I like anything with space! LOL! I love that globe, the color layering on it is great! It would be fun for Valentine’s, I like when cards are not the expected colors!
I did enjoy not having to go anywhere and I tried to not think about the store! It’s not that easy! LOL! So happy that you are still having fabulous weather there!! It’s nice to see you appreciate something other than Winter!!I hope that you had fun with your quilt! I loved my Saturday and I did get a little more than I thought I would done! Love and hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  2. Great take on the sketch today, Justin. I love color-layering globe with the sentiment. The blue metallic paper must be an eye-catcher in person. I’m so glad you have a day off from the store. Good luck on getting lots of things done and perhaps you can find some time to sneak in something more fun than cleaning! Although there’s always that sense of accomplishment once the cleaning is done. Have a great day.

    1. Thank you HJ! I like that Big World Set a lot! It has both sides of the globe too! The Blue Print Metallic is awesome in person! I love all of their papers! Need to get more in the store! I did get some things done, not everything but that’s ok! I was possessed by the craft muse late so I did get in some crafty time! Hope that you had a great weekend! 🙂

  3. what a special card…..great take on the sketch. Well, I was bad and went to the Scrapbook expo. Not overly crowded but hotter than heck. And parking is horrid, evyer year I say never again and this may be it. I guess folks were complaining yesterday that it was chilly….. bring a sweater. I know events can’t please everyone but when the workers are complaining its bad. I overspent as usual but I only bought stuff that I knew I would use, die cuts for scraopbooking and I finaly got the new Nuvo drops in most of the colors.

I felt so guilty when I got home that I tackled my kitchen …. stove, counters cleaned just the floor left and then laundry. I’m home alone this weekend so plenty of craft time. Take care

    1. Thank you Linda! My friend Sue went to the one in NJ and had the exact same comments as you! You have to let me know what you think of the Nuvo Drops! Renee has them but I have yet to try them.
The guilt got the better of me too, I vacuumed, but I actually like to vacuum! LOL! Hope that you had a very crafty weekend! 🙂
