SIP Challenge 62 – A Sketch!

Hi! Thanks so much for coming by today! It was another absolutely gorgeous day here! The humidity broke and the temps were in the low 80’s. I got another Altenew order at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to replenish some of what is missing and it also included a few new items! I have to get ready for my Partial Die Cutting Class on Wednesday and the massive Lawn Fawn order that will arrive. I need to get that all checked in and ready for Thursday! That’s the day it gets released to the public! Can’t wait to play with all of their new goodies! Wednesday is going to be a crazy busy day at the store! Anyone wanna come by and help?! 😀

So what do I do on Tuesday?! Oh yes, it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge! This week we have a nice simple sketch…

SIP Challenge 62 - Sketch

When I sat down to make this card on Saturday it started out as a completely different card. Then I went to look for something and found this paper pad that I forgot I had. That was the inspiration for the rest of the card! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Early Espresso. The background is that piece of paper from the Prima Cartographer A4 Paper Pad. Next up is a piece of My Minds Eye Christmas on Market Street Shining Stars Foiled Vellum. The circle is a piece of Gold Mirror Card that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Lawn Cuts. It’s adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner, I also hid the adhesive for the Vellum behind it! My greeting is from the Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Ranger Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder. For the feathers I used the Spellbinders Feathers Shapeabilities Dies to cut out some Kraft Card Stock. I added a little Versa-Mark to the ends and heat embossed some more of the Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder onto them. They are adhered to the gold circle with 3D Foam Squares and a piece of DMC Gold Thread is tied around the top. Three Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins complete the card! I love that background paper, so glad that I found it! I also love the way the Vellum softens it! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch Challenge! Take a minute to stop by the BLOG and see what the rest of my fantastic Design Team has come up with to inspire you! We hope to see your card in the gallery so that you might be one of our top three picks! Thanks again for stopping by! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin!

Yes, I want to come and help you at the store! Unfortunately, if I left here right now I wouldn’t get there until after the store is closed unless I took the ferry from Bridgeport. So, if I got there before the store closed I’d be too tired from the trip to be much help. Sorry. I know – excuses, excuses!

Love today’s card. I especially like the gold dotted vellum. You do a fantastic job of hiding the adhesive. I seem to have a bit of trouble doing that but heck, I rarely even remember I have the vellum much less actually use it. LOL The sketch this week was very versatile which always helps because you have the option of doing any occasion card you prefer. As always, a great job!

Weather here is pretty fall like again today. Only in the low 50’s when we got up this morning with no humidity and bright sunshine. I think it’s supposed to get up close to 80 today but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Definitely my kind of weather. At least I have a wee bit of ambition when it’s not hot and humid. You have yourself a tension free Tuesday my friend. I can’t wait for you to get your Hero Arts order in. Yeah. Love and hugs, XXOO 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Wouldn’t that be fun if you could come to the store and help?! You could take a nap on the ferry and be all refreshed! LOL!
Because of my love of Verllum I have had a lot of practice hiding the adhesive! I’m telling you, you need to put it on your desk so you remember! I do like a sketch, it’s a nice starting point for sure!
I’m glad that you are enjoying you’re weather! To be honest I’m missing the hotter temps! I guess we all get to love the weather sometimes! I hope that you had a nice Tuesday, I have a super busy day today, trying to get everything done before I get to the store! The Hero order should be here next week, they always take forever to ship!! But I love the Holiday release and can’t wait to play with the new stuff! Love and hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  2. What a great take on the sketch, Justin. I love all the elements, especially the DSP with dotted vellum covering it and how the tips of the feathers are embossed. So inspiring, my friend. Like Grace, I wish I lived close enough to help out. That’s what wonderful about the internet, we seem close but can be far, far away. Enjoy a lovely day.

    1. Thank you so much HJ! I love Vellum! It’s one of the most versatile crafting supplies out there! You know me and feathers! LOL! One day we all get together! Somehow, some way! The Internet is great because we do have this fun little community! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  3. WOW! No further comment needed.

YES! I’d love to help, too bad I live in Chicagoland. My dream job is what you ae doing, however I’d never bring a paycheck home

    1. Thank you Linda! It’s fun to find forgotten paper pads, isn’t it?! It’s like getting new stuff without leaving the house! LOL! I won’t lie, it’s hard to have to play with all of the new goodies to make samples! Not really! LOL! Have a super day my friend! 🙂
