Fab Friday 97

TGIF! And I actually have a day off! Woo hoo! I can’t wait to go into Manhattan tomorrow with Sandy and Sue! I’m going to try and convince them to have Dirty Bird for lunch! Yes, I’m a little addicted! I have to remember to pick up a few things from the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store that I have to drop off at The Ink Pad tomorrow. I’m going to stop by there after the Mama Elephant event too to see Jane! Hopefully the weather holds out and it doesn’t rain, it can be as overcast as it wants to be but no rain! Last night’s Thirsty Thursday was fun! Heather thought it would be funny to pour water down the back of my shorts, let’s just say she didn’t find it as funny after! Whahahaha! What’s on for you this weekend?!

It’s a Fab Friday week so I’m over on the blog for this week’s challenge…

A nice simple sketch! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Black 110lb and Kraft with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles Stackables Lawn Cuts. The KraftΒ is heat embossed with the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain Background Stamp with Hero Arts Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. To make my circle I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles Stackables. The black panel is adhered with E-Z Runner. I added a piece of Vellum and some Foam Tape to the back of the Kraft piece and enclosed some Sparkling Clear Sequins inside of it. My flower is from the Altenew Best Mom Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Hero Arts Intense Black a few times using my Mini MISTI onto Arches 140lb Watercolor Card. I colored in the image with Gansai Tambi Watercolors, used the Coordinating Die to cut it out and adhered it to the card with 3D Foam Squares. For the greeting I heat embossed a sentiment from the Beautiful Lady Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto a strip of Black 110lb and attached it with more 3D Foam Squares. Yes, I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins and some Tuxedo Black Irresistible Pico Embellisher to the flowers. I really do love woodgrain behind florals, just makes them pop! I hope that you like my Design Team card for the Fab Friday Sketch Challenge! We hope that we will see your card in the gallery so stop by the BLOG for some inspiration! Thanks for coming by today! Have a fabulous Friday! πŸ™‚

  1. I was sitting on the plane to Ohio, anxiously awaiting your card to load. Well…it was worth the wait!! I love the vellum. Makes the shaker a bit more subtle and elegant, and really highlights those beautifully colored flowers! Enjoy your day off and the weekend!

    1. Aww, I’m so glad that the card was worth it! Thank you so much Linda! I’m excited to go into the City today! Hope the weather holds out! Have an awesome weekend my friend! πŸ™‚

  2. Super, Duper card today Justin. I love the blue flowers and, of course, the fact that you turned them into a shaker card! I agree with Carol that the vellum really does soften the presence of the sequins yet highlights the presence of the flowers. Well done my friend.

So glad you are getting to go to Manhattan tomorrow. What is the Mama Elephant event? It is a trade show of some kind? You’ll have to fill us in on all the excitement of Manhattan and this time, take some photos to share with us please. LOL You have yourself a Fun Filled Friday my friend and enjoy Manhattan enough for both of us.
Love and hugs to you, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you very much Grace! I always say that Vellum is my favorite thing to use!
I’m so happy to get to go into the City too! The Mama Elephant event is something they do every year to showcase their new release and celebrate another year of their stamps! I will have to remember to take pictures! I hope that you enjoy your Saturday! Love and hugs back to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Simple? this is elegant! Love this. I thought the flowers were colored with Copics, you have become a Master at watercoloring. I really like the velum inplace of acetate. It adds so much to this card.

Back from the apple orchard, (yes, I spelled it right) Wonderful day, fresh air, cool and gray skies but no rain. And 4 types of apples, Honey Crisp and Golden are my favorites. Have an awesome day off, and dont spend all your money at Mama Eephant, I like their products.

    1. Thank you so much Linda! I do enjoy watercoloring, it’s so relaxing! I’m a big Vellum supporter you know! LOL!
Yay! I’m so happy that your day of Apple picking went well! I do love a good apple and you have named some of my favorites too! I’m going to try and be good in the city today! Wish me luck! LOL! πŸ™‚

  4. Gorgeous card, Justin!! Love the woodgrain with the vellum shaker! The blue is banishing the mood that the damp rain leaves behind. πŸ™‚

I am debating whether or not to come into the city tomorrow for the ME event – it all depends on the rain and the weather. It’s such a long train ride for me that I’m not sure I want to deal with it if the weather is going to be yucky… Today was bad enough for work, combined with the subway not cooperating… Ah, gotta love it when it starts raining and the subways delays and mishaps start piling up!

    1. Thank you Christy! I do love blue flowers for some reason!
Well, I hope that I get to see you today! That would be fun! The weekends aren’t usually as bad as the weekday commute. I’ll be taking the train in. Again, hope to get to see you there! πŸ™‚
