Freshly Made Sketches 254

Ahh… the weekend! I remember when I used to have off on the weekend! LOL! What a fun time we had at Card Class at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store yesterday! The Friday night bunch is always a little rowdy and that makes it more fun! Dianne, Melissa, Christine, Danielle, Brian, Sandy, Dena and Nancy all came and made the Lawn Fawn Cards! Brian brought Taylor with him because she wanted to take the ride to the airport with me to get my parents. We finished up by 9:30 and we got to the airport early so we sat on a creepy side street and waited until they were ready. The JetBlue terminal at JFK is always busy, especially downstairs at Arrivals so I told them to meet me upstairs at Departures! In and out in no time! They did really enjoy themselves and were so happy with the flights and the hotel! My mum said that she would like whoever straightened up the room everyday to come and doย her house too! Today I have some more classes to plan and projects to create! Love Saturday’s at the Store!

So after a week of the Give Thanks Stamps and Layering Leaves Dies from Concord & 9th today I have a card using some Hero Arts for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

My card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock, seems to be a favorite of mine lately! LOL! For my background I used some patterned paper, the pink one is part of the Fabulous line from Authentique and the other one I believe is also Authentique, not sure which line it’s from though. I die cut a piece of Dark Molasses with the Hero Arts Branch Wreath Fancy Die and adhered it to the card with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. The Fairy is from the My Monthly Hero Kit forย August and is stamped in Onyx Black and watercolored with my Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors and a Pentel Aquash Water Brush. I cut her out with the Coordinating Dies and adhered her to the card with 3D Foam Squares. A generous does of Clear Sparkle Pen is added to her wings and dress. My greeting is die cut from Gold Mirror Card using the Hero Arts Christmas Trimmings Stamp & Cut Set, I also cut out some of the berries. The Merry Christmas is cut again from Ivory 110lb. I adhered it to the Gold Mirror Card and then to the card with more Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. The berries are adhered with Multi-Matte Medium along with some Pretty Pink Posh Ballerina Pink Sequins to finish the card! I still really like the Fairies from the August Kit and the wreathย is sure to be one of my favorite dies for the fall and winter! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks for visiting me today! Have a serene Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. What a creative idea for a Christmas card, Justin! Love the non-traditional elements you used (color and image) and that wreath is stunning.

Glad your parents are home and that you were able to pick them up – such a great help! I’m surprised JFK doesn’t have a cell phone lot like other airports do so you can wait there instead of a creepy side street (especially at night – eek!).

    1. Thank you Christy! I love a non-traditional Holiday card! But you know that! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Yes, they really enjoyed themselves and I think that wished they had stayed longer! JFK is a hot mess all the time! There is a never ending stream of construction! The creepy side street wasn’t so bad! I wouldn’t sit there again though! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. What a pretty Christmas card. I rarely use non-traditional colors but this card would be perfect for a family who has a ballerina or for your niece in 3-4 years. I love the little ballerina embellies around the wreath. So sweet. I know you are happy your parents are home with that errand marked off your list. That was nice Taylor could go with you. Have a super Saturday! Sending hugs to you, my friend.

    1. Thanks HJ! I use non-traditional colors whenever I can on Holiday cards! Yes! I will have to hold onto the card for Tristan! Yes, I’m very happy that my parents are home, I missed them and dinner! LOL! Hoe you had a wonderful day! Hugs right back to you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Gorgeous! Glad your folks had a great time. At least you foud a creepy street to wait on. We have no side streets bu O’Hare, Expressway entrance and exit only. So we need to drive in continuos circles to pick anyone up. And we them cross way over to the last pick up line. Easy in and out, then. Or we have a cell phone lot, thats nice.

    1. Thanks Linda! Yes, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! I’m very happy that they had fun! I wish we had a cell phone lot! The arrivals line at Jetblue was ridiculous! My Dad was impressed that I told them to go upstairs! ๐Ÿ˜€
