Paper Players 314

Tuesday it was warm and muggy and I had on jeans, yesterday it was warm when I left for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and by 12:00 it was cold and I had shorts on! I guess I need to pay a little more attention to the weather before I leave the house! LOL! Speaking of the store Angie was with us today, she worked from “home”! I also got a very nice surprise, my friend Patrice stopped by with her mum! It was so nice to see her and she brought some of her fabulous cards to show me! I wish I had taken some pictures, she is so talented! I’m going to get her to join Instagram and share her work! Today Renee has her Home Decor Class and I’m going to get my newsletter out!

Before we get to my little bit of craftiness that I have to share with you today I want to thank Clare for choosing me as her Cut Above for last week’s Taste of Fall Challenge! You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE! Now for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

I’m really loving the new “hand drawn sets” from Altenew and I think that this set might have my favorite greeting ever! My card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. I used the coffee bean stamp from the Altenew Coffee Love Photopolymer Stamp Set and heat embossed it in Hero Arts Copper and Gold Embossing Powder. The strip down the right side is a piece of Authentique 12×12 Paper from the Fabulous line. I used the Lawn Fawn Dotted Circles Stackables Lawn Cuts to cut out a circle and another piece of the 12×12 paper. My greeting and all of the images are also from the Coffee Love Set. The greeting is stamped in Onyx Black. Some E-Z Runner and Fun Foam adheres the circle to the card. I heat embossed the coffee press in Copper onto a piece of Vellum, cut it out with my Scissors and colored in the back with a Copic. It’s adhered to the circle with Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape. For a little bit of a change I heat embossed the cups onto a piece of Gold Mirror Card Stock and cut them out too. They are adhered with 3D Foam Squares. Of course no card would be complete without a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold and Rose Gold Sequins! Someone saw the card at the store and said that it reminded them of an ad for coffee! I do love the Stamp Set, especially the embossed coffee beans! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! Thank you for your visit and I wish you all a lovely Thursday! πŸ™‚

  1. Justin,
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this card!!! Everything about it is perfect.. the embossed vellum, the designer paper, the stamped coffee beans and of course – the sequins. Fabulous card! You are so talented.

    1. Thank you so much Gerri! I do loves me some coffee and this is the perfect set! I appreciate your kindness and am so happy to have you here on the blog! πŸ™‚

  2. Love the copper cups Justin! The saying is really so true and I know so many coffee drinkers that turn into tigers on the hunt if they run out of coffee – LOL. I never thought about coloring the vellum from the back. Boy that makes me feel pretty dumb for sure. The black and white checked DSP reminded me of the 1950’s diners and also the checkered flag at the finish of a NASCAR race. Kind of a strange combo of thoughts but good ones anyway. Put it all together and you really have a unique and beautiful card. As always, a terrific job. You have yourself a Terrific Thursday my friend. Love and hugs to you….XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Ha ha! Yes Grace, I’m not fun if I haven’t had my coffee! I have colored Vellum before, you have to use a much darker color than you want to see on the front but it’s a fun effect! I love that checked paper, and yes, it definitely reminds me of the ’50s too, and the Nascar flog!! LOL! Thank you very much! I hope your Thursday was good! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Great card, Justin. Copper is my favorite color this fall. I love your personal coffee press as a prop in the picture. It looks so pristine. It matches your card. I had thought of embossing the glimmer paper. I’m always gleaning a tip and there. I love how you matched the tablecloth squares with the strip of DSP. Great job of fussy cutting the cups and press. I’m a water-holic myself, so being out of coffee doesn’t throw me into depression, but the greeting is very cute. It is rainy here, but we need it and I’m going to be crafty in a few minutes. Have a great day. Crafty hugs sent your way.

    1. Thanks so much HJ! I am a big fan of copper, it’s the new gold! I collect the coffee presses and that one is my favorite! I’m so happy that I can still share tips after all of this time! I need the dies for the set, there are a lot of other cool images but dies will make it easier! I’m definitely a coffee addict and I would be very Depresso if I had none! LOL! Hope you had a nice crafty day! Hugs back to you my friend! πŸ™‚

  4. Oh, ha, ha, ha . . . so true. Are you a Dunks person or a Starbucks? I love anything to do with coffee. Great colors!

  5. I love this! I have this stamp set, and of course have not used yet. I love the embossed coffee cups on your mirror gold, I never would have thought of that. The effect is awesome!

Well, cold damp and rainy here. LOL, I’m not to sure about trusting the weather folks. I doubt if they know what Mother Nature is doing. Just hope the rain holds for my “Ape picking day” So glad today is my Friday

    1. Thanks Linda! It’s a fun set and goes well with the Celebrations set. I like the doodled feel to it! Glad that I got to share a “new” idea with you today! We have overcast skies here for the past few days, I really miss Summer! Boy, I wish I was coming with you for “Ape” picking day! We would have so much fun! I hope that you have a nice day! I hear that they are hard to pick in the rain! LOL! Hugs to you! XO πŸ™‚

  6. What a fun card Justin – i just love that sentiment! The bold check and sprinkling of beans work really well too. The perfect card for a coffee lover! I chuckled at your wardrobe dilemmas – I too have found myself part way through the day and inappropriately dressed for the weather; one day too hot, the other too cold. Autumn takes some adjusting to!! Thanks for joining in my challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

    1. Thanks Joanne! I really do like that fun sketch feel to that coffee set and I’m definitely a huge coffee lover! I don’t remember having this many wardrobe issues last year! LOL! I would like Summer back now please! I hope that you have a lovely weekend! πŸ™‚
