Freshly Made Sketches 257

I had another dressing appropriately issue again but I wasn’t the only one! When I went outside at 7:30 yesterday morning it was chilly and overcast, I wore long pants and a sweatshirt. By the afternoon I was roasting! LOL! The sun had come out once again and it was a lovely day! Sue came by the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store to help me cut for today’s Haunted House class. She was dressed for fall too! I cut a few extra kits and will post a picture of the house over the weekend in case anyone is interested. Taylor had text me during the day and asked me if I would pick something up for her and drop it off at her house then Heather called and asked if I would run over to her house and set her DVR to record some stuff. I also had to run to Target, I sold my Nespresso to Heather a few months ago and miss it and they had one on clearance for $138 (originally $279!)!! So I ran all over. Taylor did text me and say that she wanted to get out of the house so I picked her up before Target. She is still in pain and her mouth is swollen but she is feeling a little better. I passed on all of your sage advice to her and she said to thank you! When I got back to the house I had a few espressos and then relaxed for a bit! Yes, caffeine has absolutely no effect on me… I wish it did!

I did squeeze in a little crafty time yesterday and the card that I made is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I have had an idea for the Hero Arts Cardinal Set for a while so I gave my idea a try, you’ll have to let me know what you think! The card base for today is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Lawn Fawn Bluejay Card Stock, subliminal I guess! For my background I used my Mini Ink Blending Tool and Hero Arts Soft Vanilla and Butter Bar Ink to create a little sunny sky. My greeting is from the Hero Arts Christmas Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Intense Black. The panel is thenΒ adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. The “bluejay” is from the Hero Arts Cardinal Stamp & Die Combo. I stamped him in Soft Granite, Cornflower, Navy and Intense Black. He and his feet are cut out with the Coordinating Dies. The pine branches and pinecones are from the Holly Days Stamp & Die Combo and are stamped in Green Fields and Cup O Joe and also cut out with the Coordinating Dies. I adhered the pine branches with Dot Runner Adhesive and the pinecones and bluejay with 3D Foam Squares. It needed one more thing… oh yes… a few Pretty Pink Posh Cornflower, Mossy Green and Lemon Drop Sequins! I have to say that I really like the cardinal made to look like a bluejay and the background blended with the Hero Inks is just lovely! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for coming by to see what I’ve been up to! Have a terrific Thursday! πŸ™‚

  1. Gorgeous card Justin! Love the spray of greens and pinecones, and the colors on the bird. Take it from one who has hot flashes: always dress in layers!

    1. Thank you Sandy! I love Cardinal as a Bluejay! I have learned and have a t-shirt and a sweatshirt on! πŸ™‚

  2. Justin – “in case anyone is interested”? That is the understatement of the month! OF COURSE we all want to see the haunted house and if you have any kits left over I want to buy one. You silly, silly boy. Now, a tip for you from the North country…………….in the fall you always wear a tee shirt under your sweatshirt. Cold mornings, war afternoons. We also have what we call “magic pants:. You can get them at L.L. Beans, Kittery Trading Post and I believe Dick’s Sporting Good and Cabela’s also carry them. They are regular length pants with a zipper just about the knee in each leg. Put them on when it’s cool in the morning, turn them into shorts once it warms up. Try it, you might like it! LOL

I instantly fell in love with today’s card. The Blue Jay on the pine boughs – WOW. That is the absolute perfect design to make and send from us here in Maine. I mean it screams north woods, the colors are perfect and the sentiment is just beautiful. You need to take a trip up here NOW – The foliage is at it’s peak, it is amazingly beautiful and I can take you to Bean’s and buy you a pair of Magic Pants. LOL Wishing you a Terrific Thursday, Love and Hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. LOL! Well, you never know Grace! I will put a kit aside for you! I have learned that I need to wear layers and than I will have no issues! I did used to have a pair of those pants when I was in High School! I’ll have to take a look at the ones that LL Bean has!
I’ll bet that the trees look amazing up by you right now! Thanks, so glad that you liked my Bluejay! What a fun time that would be! Hope that you had a great day! Love and hugs to you too! XOXO πŸ™‚

  3. Oh, Justin, I love this beautiful card. Just the right colors for the bluejay with the pine boughs and pinecones. Just beautiful. I’m glad to hear Taylor is feeling better. I would love to see your haunted house. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you HJ! I loved making the Cardinal a Bluejay! Yes, I’m happy that Taylor is a little better too! The Haunted House is up today! Hope you enjoyed your Thursday! πŸ™‚

  4. A female cardinal or a Jay? The stamp set says “cardinal”, so that’s what I’m going with because you never see one stamped as a female; they are always red males. I absolutely love the boughs and pine cones too! Yes, we want to see the haunted house too.
My son had those zip off pants and he loved them so much. Long pants for the morning school bus and shorts for the afternoon bus.
Taylor, I’m glad to hear that you are doing better.
Have a Terrific Thursday! Hugs, Nancy B

    1. I didn’t even think that it could be a female Cardinal Nancy! We do always forget about them! I’m going to have to look and see what they look like!
I hope that you like the Haunted House!
LOL! Yup, I used to have a pair! I miss them! Hope that you had a great day! πŸ™‚
