Freshly Made Sketches 260

Its Saturday… right?! Just kidding! I know that it’s Saturday today because I’m heading into Manhattan for the day! I’m going to see a few friends and wander for a bit! I had an unfocused day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store yesterday. I made the mistake of starting to read a book on my iPad. I haven’t read a book in years and forgot how nice it is to get lost in the pages! The book I’m reading is Inferno by Dan Brown. He’s one of my favorite authors! I couldn’t put it down! I also wanted to read it before I see the movie! My friend Marianne also came in for class early so we chatted for a while! It’s not a bad way to spend the day, I’ll get back in the swing on Sunday! 😀

Today I have a simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

I really like the Tag Sets by Lia from Hero and think that they are a great way to make a nice quick card! My card base for today is Ivory 110lb Card Stock with front covered in a piece of Dark Molasses. The background is a piece of Kaiser Craft Mademoiselle Collection 12×12 Paper and I adhered it to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. My tag is from the Hero Arts Joyful Tidings Tag Set by Lia, I die cut it from a piece of Forest Green and heat embossed the greeting from the set in Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder. A piece of May Arts Natural Twine is tied through the top and it’s adhered over a piece of Kraft with the left side flagged using more Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. I had to add just a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins to give the card a little sparkle and movement! So what do you think? The tag makes a pretty nice simple card, right?! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you for visiting today! Have a simple and fun Saturday! 🙂

  1. Justin,
Great card! That is such a cool tag. And of course the sequins are the perfect touch.
Hope you have a great day in the city.

    1. Hi Gerri!
Thank you! The tag sets make it easy to make a quick card! I hope that you enjoy your Saturday too! 🙂

  2. Fantastic holiday card, Justin! Love the dark woodgrain paper you used, makes it feel very rustic but CAS at the same time.

Enjoy NYC and the Ink Pad today. I’m hoping to finish swapping out my spring/summer wardrobe with the fall/winter clothing and get some cards made.

    1. Thank you Christy! I love that paper too! I need to find more of it!
How did you know that I was going to stop at The Ink Pad?! I did have a fabulous day! Hope that you got your clothes swap done and some crafting too! 🙂

  3. Oh Justin:

I am sooooooo jealous! First of all I am jealous of the way you can make a simple design that is amazing when I make a simple design and it’s just, well simple looking. Secondly, you get to go to Manhattan again today! I am missing it so much. The hustle, the bustle and all those wonderful, wonderful restaurants! Here I sit on a cold misty, gloomy morning imagining myself on the train to join you! I’m going to go make a cup of hot chocolate and make 5 apple pies today. At least the smell of baking apple pies will cheer me up. LOL You have yourself a Sensational Saturday in Manhattan and enjoy it enough for both of us. Love ya, XXO 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Thank you! I do enjoy simple sometimes! The Tag Sets make it easy! I had so much fun in Manhattan as I always do! I would love to sit on your porch and smell the apple pies cooking! I am longing for some country time actually! I hope that you had a good day making your pies and enjoying the peace! I had a fantastic time in the city, definitely enough for both of us! Love you too! XOXO 🙂

  4. OMG! I LOVED INFERNO!!!! I cant wait to see the movie. I think Dan Brown is an amazing author. I love to read, and yep, I get so lost in a good book nothing gets done.

This card is awesome, simple yet gets the message across. I need to look into those tag dies, I did not see them. I am a tag person.

My house is a nightmare! I’m getting carpeting replaced in two rooms. Its so flippin loud, and a mess. I’ll be happy when its done.

I need to get my DT project done, its due in a few hours. I hate when I run behind

    1. I am enjoying the book so much Linda! I’m almost finished! I think my favorite part is all of the places that they take you to! He definitely is one of my favorite authors!
Thank you! You know how I love a tag and they are fantastic!
Ahh, yes, but it will be so nice when it is finished! I need to get on my kitchen renovation! Don’t know when I will find time for that!
I am going to try and make a bunch of cards today! I liked when I was ahead last week! Hope you got yours done! 🙂

  5. love the card, cute tag. I read Inferno when it was first released, love the Dan Brown series, and cannot wait to see the movie. One reviewer (on TV) complained there was too much chasing and running around! so I yelled at her thru the TV “hello, cuz it’s the storyline!” I don’t think she heard me tho 😉 I am looking forward to the scenery in the movie, enjoy your day!

    1. Thanks Lynne! Yes, I had to read the book first and I too can’t wait to see the movie! I never listen to the critics! I loved the last two movies, I’m sure that this one will be just as good! Don’t you wish that sometimes they could hear you?! LOL! Hope that you have a great day too! 🙂
