Mojo Monday 468

I really enjoyed my weekend and hope that you did too! Yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store we had our first Hand Lettering Class taught by the lovely Paula Andrea! I took the class and learned the basics, included in the class is an excellent workbook so we can all practice, and I’m going to need a lot! If you want to see some of Paula’s work you can find her on Instagram HERE! She was an excellent teacher and we can’t wait to have her back! After work I came home and saw my little buddy Daniel at my Parent’s for a bit before heading over to pick up Kim so that we could go to Govenor’s Comedy Club for the Fire Department Fundraiser. We met up with Brian and I got to see my friends Mike and Michelle who I haven’t seen in ages! It was nice to catch up with them! The last comedian of the night, Mick Thomas, was hysterical! I think that the Irish accent made him even funnier! What a nice way to end the weekend!

And it’s Monday so that means that I’m over on the Mojo Monday blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

Of course I had to play with a new Mama Elephant set! The card base is Ivory 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of paper from the Echo Park Wintertime 12×12 Collection. For the band across the lower half I used the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangles Stackables Lawn Cuts to trim off the lower part of a piece of Gold Mirror Card and added a strip of Echo Park This & That 12×12 Paper across itย before adhering it to the card. That super cute “Charlie Brown” tree is from the new Mama Elephant O’ Tiny Tree Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the trunk and branches in Dark Chocolate Crisp Ink and colored in the image with Copics. The pine needles are stamped in Evergreen Crisp Ink. My lights and string are heat embossed in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder, the ornament hook in Platinum and the ornamentย in Gold. I colored in the lights and ornament in with Copics and added a generous dose of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the ornament. My greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Onyx Black. I used my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to round the corners and adhered the panel to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. Up in the left corner is a piece of Black 110lb adhered to the card with Foam Tape. I hand cut the tag from more Gold Mirror Card and then added a Natural Twine bow to it before adhering it to the card with a Glue Dot. I’m totally in love with the little tree! 1. Oh my, Justin. What a great fun card using your new Mama Elephant stamps. I love the Charlie Brown tree with the one ornament on the end of the branch. You know I love copper. So very cute!! Glad you had a great day and got to see so many friends in one place and enjoyed the comedy show for a good cause. Have a wonderful Monday, my friend.

    1. Thank you HJ! I think that Stamp Set will be very popular! I did have a wonderful Sunday! The show was fun and I do love getting to see my friends! Hope you had a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Love this Justin! That tree is adorable and the newsprint background is perfect. Pinned for future inspiration!

  3. Oh Justin – you gave me a laugh with this one! The tree looks like the one I had in my first apartment when I was so broke! It wasn’t even a “tree” but rather the top of a tree someone had cut off theirs and put out on the curb to be picked up by the garbage man. I “rescued” it and made little bows from some ribbon I had to decorate it. On, the not-so-good-old-days! I love the little bit of gold between the newsprint and cardstock. You are one crafty guy! Great job.

Had a crazy busy weekend but accomplished a few things. The weather has been damp, cool and cloudy but today we actually get to see the sun! Hooray! I managed to finish my Halloween cards and will get them sent out next week sometime. Now I need to design some Thanksgiving cards. I usually make 10 Christmas cards a month so there is no pressure to get them done in December but this year I was bad and don’t have a single one made. I may be sending (gasp, gasp) bought cards this year. I seem to have less time now that I’m retired then I did when I worked full time. The hubs says that’s because it takes us both twice as long to do half as much. LOL
Love to you my friend 0 have yourself a Magnificent Monday. XXOO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. LOL! That’s a great story Grace! I’m sure that that Christmas was a great one despite your tree! Thank you! The card was fun to make and I love that little set!
Crazy busy is ok when you actually do get a lot done! We have had no sun for at least 5 days but it did peek out yesterday! Nooo! You can’t send store bought cards!! There isn’t enough time in the day for any of us! I don’t think I agree with the hubs! I think that we try to do too much and then get sidetracked! Love to you too! Hope your day was glorious! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Such a fabulous card! Love that sweet little tree and the fabulous sentiment. That darling little tag in the corner is just perfect, too.

    1. Thank you very much Julee! The tree is so much fun! Thanks for another great sketch! Have a fun week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Fantastic card, Justin and not a sequin on it! Maybe my next challenge to you will be No Sequins For a Week! No! I couldn’t do that to you. Glad you enjoyed your night out at Governor’s. Comedy nights are always so much fun. Melissa and I saw Wayne Brady on Saturday and laughed until we cried!

    1. Thank you Linda! Ha ha! No, I could never do no sequins for a week! That would just be mean! LOL! Yes, it’s nice to just laugh!! Glad that you had fun at your comedy night too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. How cute! The darlin’ little tree reminds me of the tree I put up in my elementary classroom. It leans a bit and has been dubbed “the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree”. I may have to get this stamp just to honor the little classroom tree.

I love the special touches on your card like the tiny tag and the book paper! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Christine! It definitely does look like the “Charlie Brown” tree! So glad that you enjoyed the card! Have a super day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Love this! I am saving this for future copying, once I get my hands on that stamp set. Oh, I need to win the lottery.

Awesome weekend, its a shame they go by so fast. I played yesterday with my new Lace Leaf stamp set. this set is beautiful!!!!!! I love it, I made one leaf in gold, one in copper, can’t pick a favorite.

    Take care

    1. Thank you Linda! It’s a fun set! As soon as I win I’ll send you one of everything that I get!
Yes, the Lace Leaf is such a great set! I’ll bet they look fabulous in Gold and Copper! Why choose just one?! LOL! Hope your day is great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Oh sorry I forgot to say I’m happy you enjoyed the class and will have her back!
