Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th – Watercolor!

wcmc9-header

This is my second post for today! When this post goes up I’ll be in Manhattan! I’m going to try and see some of my peeps before I head back home. I do love a day in the city as most of you know! The reason for two posts today you may be wondering? Well it’s time for the second challenge over on the Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th Challenge Blog! This time we are featuring a technique which is one of my favorites… watercoloring! You have a whole month to play along! Winners will be picked on Monday, November 7th and announced on Tuesday November 8th!

Here is this month’s challenge badge…

I have been dying to use the Holy Night Dies from last month’s release! I die cut all of the pieces for the main parts of the card from Arches 140lb Watercolor Card. Before I scored them I used my Mijello Mission Gold Watercolors to create my scene. After the pieces had dried (I let them air dry to minimize warping) I scored them at the notches that die cuts add and then added Scor-Tape and adhered all of the pieces together. The star just had to be cut from Gold Mirror Card along with the noel. I also cut two noels from a piece of Solar White 110lb and adhered them together and to the card with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. Just a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins complete the card! I love that die set, it makes it so easy to make a dimensional pop-up card, and the best part is that it folds flat and fits in a standard envelope! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this month’s Where Creativity Meets Concord & 9th Watercolor Challenge! We hope that you will play along with us and if you need a little additional inspiration stop by the BLOG and see the amazing cards that the rest of the Design Team has created! Hope to see your card in the gallery! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

  1. Oh my Justin! This card is amazing. My friends and family would really be blown away if I made this design as my Christmas card this year. It looks like it took forever to make. The most amazing part to me is that no stamps were used in creating this beautiful piece of artwork. You did an absolutely fantastic job with this one. Now that die set goes on my wish list. Thank you so much for sharing. Hugh Hugs! XO 🙂

    1. Thank you Grace! I love the die and it looks just as good cut from plain white paper! It actually didn’t take too long and I had fun watercoloring it! It’s a great die set but I think the one with the cabin is more you! Hugs back to you! XO 🙂

      1. There’s a die set with a cabin? Can you send me a photo of it? I’m serious about wanting the Holy Night set but heck, maybe I need them both but will have to wait a few weeks to purchase them. I kind of blew my wad for a few weeks. LOL

        1. Yes, there is a stamp and die for the cabin Grace! Pictures sent! I’d be happy to put them aside for you! 🙂

  2. Another beautiful card, Justin. Your watercoloring is awesome. I hope you have a great day in the city. It is windy here, so I imagine it is quite windy in NYC. Take care, my friend.

    1. Thanks so much HJ! The city was fun as always despite the rain and wind. Hope you enjoyed your day! 🙂
