Winter Forest Snow Globe

Oh how I love a day in Manhattan! I took the 8:11 train in, it was 8 minutes late as is usually the case with a morning train on the weekend. Once in the city I made my way up to 86th Street on the 1 train and headed to Starbucks to get a Venti Chili Mocha (my new favorite drink!). From there I went and saw my friends Jon and Mary for a while and then Joe and Penny. Around 2:00 I called Anna to see if she was at The Ink Pad, she was so I went down to spend some time with her. We had a nice chat discussing store stuff and made plans to get together for dinner soon! I made it back to Penn Station in time to get the 6:12 back out to the Island and had dinner with my Parent’s. Between the train and spending a few hours reading once I got home I’m almost finished with Inferno! I’m enjoying the book immensely and I’m sure that the movie will be great too! Today I’m alone at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store, Renee is going to see Jersey Boys with her Mum and Sister. Hopefully it will be a project filled day! 😀

I finally got to play with the My Monthly Hero Kit from this month and made a fun snow globe shaker! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the front of the shaker I used the snow globe die to cut out the negative from a piece of Solar White 80lb and two pieces of Fun Foam. I laid the panel on the card and traced a circle with my pencil so I would know where to stamp the trees and add the snow banks. Speaking of the trees, they are stamped in Green Fields and the snow banks are cut from more Solar White 80lb. An additional tree is stamped and die cut and then all of the pieces are added to the card front including the deer which I stamped in Cup O Joe and also die cut. A few snow flakes are stamped on the card front from the Wintertime Fun Photopolymer Stamp Set in the Silver Ink included in the Kit. I adhered a piece of Acetate to the back of the front panel and then adhered the two layers of Fun Foam to the card front adding a generous amount of the shaker beads and sequins included in the kit to my well. The bottom of the snow globe is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder along with the greeting from the Kit Stamp Set and it’s adhered to the card to finish off my scene! A fun card where the shaker is the star of the show! I hope that you like my card for today! You visits are always appreciated and I wish you all a simple Sunday! 🙂

  1. Fantastic CAS shaker, Justin! Love the scene inside the shaker with the deer and the trees. My idea of a perfect winter scene – I don’t need to see the real stuff. 🙂

Glad you got some reading done on the train! Dan Brown’s books are awesome! I use my commuting time to get a lot of reading done – easy to do when you’re on the train for 1.5 hours each way and there are plenty of books to download from my local library on my Kindle. I easily go through 5-6 books a week so I’m thankful I can download books from the local library as I’d go broke buying books all the time. :p

    1. Thanks so much Christy! I’m with you! I’d much rather see the “snow” on a card than in real life! LOL!
Yes, his books are fantastic! I wish I got to read that much! The book is so good that I’m almost finished! That is good that you can download books from the library! I’ll have to look into that! 🙂

    1. Thank you Leah! Yes, the kit did sell out fast! It was one of the best ones this year! Almost finished with the book! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin:

You just know that I love your shaker cards and this one is the best one yet! What could possibly be better than a snow globe card when winter is on its merry way? Yes, I know you don’t like it but heck, you had your share of hot, sticky weather this year so now it’s my turn to enjoy the beauty of winter even though I’m hoping it waits a bit longer to start! LOL This card is so “Maine”, especially during January and February. It is just gorgeous!

Sounds like you had a great day in Manhattan yesterday. I wish I could have been there with you. Glad you got to see Anna at The Ink Pad. Such a wonderful little shop filled with fabulous stamping goodies. I really enjoyed meeting her.

Race day today…………only a few more to go before the racing season ends and I begin my racing withdrawal stage. I’ll have to go from November thru most of February before they start up again. I think the “fix” would be another trip down south to a few of the shops. Hmmmmm, not a bad idea. LOL Anyway, you have yourself a Sensational Sunday my friend and finish up that Dan Brown book so you can start and enjoy another one. Love and Hugs to you, XXOO 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you very much! LOL! I enjoy the winter when it’s on a card! But otherwise, not so much! The Hero Kit this month was great, love all of the elements in it!
I did have a wonderful day in Manhattan! It would have been nice if you were there! I love Anna, she’s such a good person! Need to se her more often!
Oh, yes, race day! See, the Winter isn’t that great after all! He he! I had a nice productive day at the store! Hope that you enjoyed your race and the rest of your day! The book was fantastic, he doesn’t have another new until next year! Have to find some other authors that I like! Love and hugs back to you! XOXO 🙂

  3. Love this…..beautiful snow scene in a globe, (where it should be). I did not get this kit, trying to show restraint. I have 6 Simon Says kits untouched, 2 Hero arts kits untouched, 2 from MFT and a few Paper Pumpkins. note: I said untouched, of course everything has been opened and drooled upon, just havent made anything with them.

I need more hours in a day! Yesterday I was focused. Hit a quick craft show and got 3 gifts down, then since I was homebound with the carpet man I pulled out A SS kit, from last December, love it. Got two cards made and ideas are flowing. Oh… I finally got my DT card done too.

OK: Need to hit a quick brunch with hubby. Put my house back in order, and playtime.

Glad you had a relaxing day in the city. We all need it…..

    1. Thank you Linda! Yes, it was one of the best kits so far! Restraint?! What’s that?! LOL! I haven’t gotten the Simon Kit for the past two months, not loving them lately. I do like the MFT kits but they are a bit pricey! Well of course they are opened! I would be shocked if they weren’t! 😀
We all need a few more hours in the day! Isn’t it great when you have a day like that?! Sounds like a wonderful day! I had a productive day too! Got four cards made! Love when that happens on a Sunday!
Hope you enjoyed brunch and got everything put back and got to play too! Loved my Manhattan trip, as I always do! 🙂
