Grateful Wintry Leaf

Well, what snow we didn’t get on Friday we certainly got yesterday! I think the final total by my house was 6 inches and further out on the Island they got up 12 inches. When I left for the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store it had just started. We decided to close early so I stopped by the Post Office to drop off a bunch of packages and then headed home. The roads were terrible, it was really cold so none of the snow melted. It was like you were driving on little tiny frozen marbles! Thank god for traction control! I’ll tell you, my little car is packed full of nice surprises! The rest of my evening was spent relaxing, I did make another quick card and today I want to get some projects finished at the Store. Hopefully they will have done something with the roads by morning! πŸ˜€

As I always say I do like to stretch my stamps and use them for more than what they are intended for and I think that we could all use a little more grateful in our lives! Today’s card uses a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Authentiqe Wintery 12×12 Paper. I heat embossed the leaf from the Concord & 9th Lacy Leaf Photopolymer Stamp Set in Ranger Liquid Platinum onto a piece of 48lb Vellum. The coordinating dies are used to cut it out along with three pieces of Black 110lb that are adhered together with Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. On my strip of Kraft I stamped the greeting from the same stamp set in Onyx Black and adhered the strip over the leaf to the card with E-Z Runner and Fun Foam. All that was left to do was to adhere the grateful to the strip with Multi-Matte Medium. A nice simple card that gets stepped up by the heat embossed Vellum leaf! I hope that you like today’s card! As always, thank you for stopping by! Have a simply wonderful Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Very nice card, Justin! Love seeing how others are able to see others design capabilities with stamps and stretch them. The background paper is beautiful and really stands out against the gold embossed vellum leaf.

Glad you didn’t suffer too badly with the snow & were able to be home before the worst of it. Surprisingly, my area got a couple inches out of this storm and the state/county was not prepared. The local towns around here managed to respond quickly so the secondary roads got treated, but the main roads were in horrendous shape.

    1. Thank you Christy! I really do like to use Holiday stamps for other things! I love that background paper!
The roads were really bad, I don’t think I have ever experienced them as slippery as they were. We had the opposite, the maid roads are in good shape but the secondary roads are still terrible! One day they will get it right! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Michael! I love that leaf!! May be my all time favorite! Snow Gross, completely agree! πŸ™‚

  3. I love how you are always thinking outside the box and using stamps in a variety of ways. This is a beautiful card with the embossing and that leaf. Very simple but effective. Yes, we can all be more grateful. We got only 2-3 inches of snow, but southern Delaware got slammed with up to 10″. This is when I’m glad I don’t live at the beach. LOL Glad you were able to get home safely. That’s funny your car surprised you in a good way! Take it easy today. I think it’s going to be really cold for a few days. Have a good one!

    1. Thank you HJ! I love to get to use my stamps as much as I can! I do really like that leaf! 10 inches is a lot of snow!! We got 6 and that’s too much! My car is a great little vehicle! It’s supposed to warm up tomorrow! Can’t wait! πŸ™‚

  4. wonderful card, Justin – love the colors you used – bought this stamp – haven’t used it yet – thanks for inspiring me – super cold here in Nebraska – but very little snow – thank for that!!

    1. Thank you Betty! Need to get that stamp inked up! One of my favorites! It’s still really cold here! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s warm up! πŸ™‚

  5. Love that today’s card is so effective and to the point! Sometimes all we need is one word to express so much to someone who has had a positive effect on our lives. Your card for today couldn’t be more perfect to send, for no particular reason, to someone to give them a smile and let them know how much you appreciate them. What a fabulous thing to receive in the mail. Great job as always Justin.

We only got a few inches of snow last night but we already had plenty in the yard so it just made the piles a bit higher. We are both still sick and it’s super cold out there so it will be another day of just sleeping on and off. Boy, being on vacation for a week followed by sick for a week and we are both so far behind it’s exhausting just to think about. You be careful on the roads Justin. Love and hugs to you my friend! XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Grace! I think that we definitely need to send cards for no reason other than to say that we are thinking of someone.
It’s no fun to be sick, I’m sick now, I haven’t been sick in over four years! Little Daniel is to blame! He’s lucky that he’s so cute! The roads are a bit better, tomorrow should warm up so it will hopefully melt! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

I finally got my desk cleared off and some stamp sets put away. Its pretty bad when everythiung keeps falling off. hubby says I need less stuff, nope, I need a bigger room

    1. Thank you Linda! Yes, definitely one of my favorite sets and the paper is really fun! I’d rather just have the cold instead of the snow too!
Aww, that’s why the Holiday’s are so nice, get to see your family! They’ll be back before you know it!
I agree, bigger room! LOL! πŸ™‚
