Mojo Monday 478

Day one of 2017 done! The crop at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store and Scrap-A-Latte was fun! It really always amazes me how much stuff the ladies bring with them. At least two or more trips to the car to bring all of their stuff in! I do like watching all of the creativity while they work. I got my card for today done early too. Must have been all of that creativity! When I got home I had some dinner with my Parent’s, Mum made beer battered fish and chips! After dinner I watched Star Trek – Beyond and then P.S. I Love You, how’s that for both ends of the spectrum?! You have to balance all of the explosions with a little mushiness! Today, lots of projects to work on! Loves me a little craftiness! πŸ˜€

It’s the first Monday of the New Year and time for the first Mojo Monday sketch ofΒ 2107…

I was in the mood for stamping and I wanted to change it up a bit so I layered! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I took a piece of Kraft and Solar White 80lb and placed them in my MISTI and stamped them with the greenery from the Concord & 9th Flourish Photopolymer Stamp Set a few times with Altenew Forest Glades Crisp Ink. I added a piece of printer paper and then lined up my circle that I cut out using the Hero Arts Infinity Circles Dies and stamped again. Next I stamped the flowers from the set inΒ Deep Iris, Midnight Violet, Lavender Fields, Cotton Candy, Mango Smoothie and Peach Perfect Crisp Ink. The white panel is adhered to the Kraft wth E-Z Runner, I hid the adhesive for the Vellum behind the circle and the strip of Gold Glitter Card Stock that goes across the lower half of the card. My circle is then adhered with Fun Foam and more E-Z Runner. For the greeting I used the Concord & 9th Wonderful Words Dies to cut out a piece of Gold Mirror Card and two pieces of Black. They are adhered to each other with Multi-Purpose Spray and to the card with Multi-Matte Medium and Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape. A little cascade of Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins completes the card! I do love the Flourish set and Altenew Crisp Inks, I’m also pretty happy with the way the layered look turned out! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the first Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge of 2017! Go over and check out the rest of the Team’s cards on the BLOG and we hope that you will play along by adding your card to the gallery! Thank you for coming to by to see me on the first Monday of the year! Hope it’s off to a great start! πŸ™‚

  1. Thinking spring already?! πŸ™‚ Beautiful colors, Justin and I love the strips of gold and vellum that you added to balance all of the spring-like colors.

You’re such a helpful guy to bring in all of the crop stuff! I’ve never attended a crop myself, but I’ve attended a shoebox swap and I was amazed at how much stuff some people brought as well. I like to pack lightly whenever I travel – I’ve learned over the years as that was not always the case… πŸ™‚

    1. Spring can’t get here soon enough Christy! Thank you!!
It’s amazing how much stuff they bring to the crops! Packing lightly is definitely the way to go! Makes travel much easier! πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Justin, very light and airy. Loving the vellum and the sequins! I’m hoping to use more vellum (& sequins) in my cards. I keep forgetting. I had some vellum, lost it, found it etc. Now I “got it”!

    1. Hello Nancy! Thank you! Yes, I do love Vellum and we all know how I feel about sequins! They just add a little extra special something to a card! πŸ™‚

  3. Lovely is right! You hit it outta the park …..again! I think this one is above my pay grade. Why haven’t I bought a MISTI yet???? Hope your new year is as light and beautiful as your card!

    1. Thank you so much Ann! LOL! You definitely need a MISTI, the Mini is a great place to start! I hope that you too have a wonderful New Year with as much good as possible! πŸ™‚

  4. Justin, this card is most definitely lovely! That stamping is awesome! Isn’t a MISTI a great tool? Happy new year!

  5. Good Morning Justin:

I so missed you this past week! What a great card you have for us today. When I saw the colors I immediately thought “Easter” and you know that Easter equals Spring right? LOL I was wondering if there is a reason that when you cut a cursive word in gold you seem to always back it with cuts in black card stock. Does the black invoke a thicker, easier to handle layer? Anyway, I’ve been curious about that for a while.

Sounds like things have been pretty busy at the SIP store and I am so loving that! How lucky you are to be able to support yourself doing something you love. It’s a rare thing. You have yourself a Marvelous Monday my friend. Love and hugs to you – XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
So nice to have you back! I missed you too! I am so ready for Spring! LOL! I know, Winter just started! I like to back the word to make it sturdier, especially when I have it hanging off of something. Makes the die cut more like a chipboard embellishment!
I’m very grateful for the store and that I get to do something that I love everyday! Hope that you have a wonderful day and I wish you a New Year filled with wonderful things! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  6. Beautiful card, Justin. Your creativity amazes me. I would never have thought to put these elements together, but are definitely lovely. It inspires me to add vellum and glitter paper together. Glad your new year is off to a good start. Take care.

    1. Thanks so much HJ! So happy that you like the card! I love Vellum, a very underused product and it adds so much to a project! Hope your year is off to a great start! πŸ™‚

  7. Beautiful spring card! As since this is Jan 2nd I’m really ready for Spring! We hit 40 today, gloomy day but warm, the bottom is due to drop out.

Quiet day yesterday, all my kids came home so we just vegged. Then in the evening it was game night. Relaxing fun, I did get my NY cards made, now to mail. Later but better then never. I bought a stamp about 4 months ago and told myself I hsd to use it. No mojo here! Take care

    1. Thanks Linda! Yes, definitely ready for Spring! It’s not too cold here either but has been rain gin since yesterday and we are to get really cold by the weekend.
Quiet days are nice! I have had a few of those and have thoroughly enjoyed them! My Mojo is playing hide and seek, you are not alone! πŸ™‚
