Stellar Sparkly City

The sun finally shone yesterday, nice and bright but it was wicked windy again. They are saying that we might get snow on Friday and Saturday. Big bummer! Renee and I had another lovely day at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store. The construction is winding down and the leaks have finally stopped! I worked on some of my projects and so did Renee. After work I had dinner with my Parents and talked to my friend Sue for a bit. Then I straightened up the house, got to keep on top of that! LOL! A quick run to get gas and to Target and then a little TV before bed. I have heard from a few people that I need to watch This is Us. Do any of you watch it and if so what do you think? ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s day three of myย big sale over at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! Today allย Hero Artsย is 25% off! Use discount code CHANEW20173!

I actually made today’s card and then looked at thisย week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and decided that it would work for the sketch…

My card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I covered the front with a piece of Kraft. From a piece of American Crafts Silver Glitter Card Stock and Gold Mirror Card I cut out the skyline and bridge using the Hero Arts Skyline Fancy Dies. I cut the skyline apart so that it would cover the entire length of the card and adhered it with E-Z Runner, the bridge is adhered with 3m Foam Tape. My tag is a pice of Ionized Curious Metallic that I cut out with the Hero Arts Infinity Tags Dies, the reinforcement is cut from Gold Glitter Card Stock. I adhered the reinforcement to the tag and then tied a piece of May Arts Natural Twine though the top. My greeting and all of the images are from the Hero Arts Hipster at Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped them in Versa-Mark and Onyx Black onto 48lb Vellum. The Onyx Black ones are heat embossed with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder and the bicycle and camera are heat embossed in Gold and Silver. I used the Coordinating Dies to cut out everything except the cassette tape, that’s cut out with my Scissors, and used a combination of E-Z Runner and Kool-Tak Clear Foam Tape to adhered them to the tag. The greeting is heat embossed in Hero Arts Gold onto another piece of 48lb Vellum and adhered around the back of the tag. I added some 3M Foam Tape to the tag to adhere it to the card. You know how much I love a city scene card and this one may just be my favorite! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for taking some time to come by and visit! Have a super Thursday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Stellar card, indeed!! I love the sparkle and gold, Justin!! The stamping on vellum and layering of those diecut images on the tag is just perfect. Glad you were able to enjoy the sunshine yesterday – hope you are able to enjoy the sun today as well (even though it’s going to be COLD).

I’m actually looking forward to the snow this weekend, for a change. I guess it’s because they are only calling for a coating to 2″ where I live so I can deal with that. I doubt I’ll get an inch as I’m too far north. Anyway – yes, definitely check out “This is Us’ – so good!! You can catch up on previous episodes on demand. Definitely well worth your time!

    1. Thank you Christy! I really do enjoy a city scene card and that bridge die os so cool! Even when it’s cold as long as it’s not windy I’m happy to be outside in the sunshine!
Unfortunately I don’t enjoy any amount of snow. I watched an episode of This is Us Last night, it’s pretty good. I’ll see if I can catch up before it starts again next week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Justin:

Love, love, love this one and yes, I agree – it is the best cityscape card to date however, I think I’ve loved every one of them. You were able to get so many elements placed perfectly on this card. How you did it I don’t know I just know I love it.

Slept 20 of 24 hours yesterday. Going back to bed as soon as I finish checking my emails. Now the hubs has caught whatever this is also. We need to put a sign outside saying “unless you like having the flu – you should probably turn around and go home!”. Have yourself a fabulous day. Love & Hugs, XXOO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you so much! I love my cityscapes! LOL! I do have fun with collage cards!
I wish that I could say that I have slept that much, I’m wishing that I could be in bed right now! I hope that both of you are feeling better. Love and hugs to you! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Fantastic card, Justin! I don’t know why I’ve never thought of doing a city scape in white (sparkling no less)! Instead I tend to pull out dark cardstocks. The white is magnificent.

You will absolutely LOVE This Is Us! Evelyn and I were talking about it at the last crop. The show is so well written and beautifully acted. Real quality tv! Can’t wait for new episodes to start airing again next week. If you start binge watching now, you will be ready for Tuesday! And make sure you let us know what you think. The first episode is particularly masterful!

    1. Thank you Linda! I usually do the same thing but I thought well, the buildings usually look silvery in the light so lets give that a try!
I watched episode two last night and I do like it! I’m going to try and catch up by next week. I did enjoy the first episode! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Yes, STELLAR! You had so much latitude with the design and you knocked it out of the box. Gorgeous!
We are in the midst of a 2 – 3 inch snowfall. Yuck! I really do not like cold weather and snow, ice…
Stay warm and dry! (I go for my pre-op tests in the morning and then start all the tests, classes, and processes prior to my surgery. They make it sound complicated and scary. Such is life!)
    Hugs to all! Nancy B

    1. Thank you so much Nancy!
I’m with you on the cold and snow, it belongs in the mountains at the ski resorts!
I’m sure that all will be fine with your surgery, it’s always scary! Hugs to you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Justin,
Fabulous card!! Love your collage cards and you skyline cards so this one is a big hit for me!!
I resisted watching ‘This is Us’ for a long time. Just didn’t want to get hooked on another TV show. But everyone was talking about it. So one night before Christmas I turned on the 1st episode. Over the next 2 days I binge watched 8 episodes. Great show! Can’t even explain why but I am totally into this show. You should give it a try.

    1. Hi Gerri,
Thank you! I do so enjoy a nice skyline scene!
I watched the first two episodes and am enjoying it, going to try and watch the rest before it starts this week!! ๐Ÿ™‚

No ofense but I hope the snow stays by you, i’ll take the freezing cold we have now

    1. Thank you Linda! I thought that I would try and not follow the sketch exactly and see what I could come up with!
LOL! I’m not a big TV person but I have hear really good things about the show and have enjoyed the first two episodes!
We got enough snow, can’t wait for it to be gone! It’s super cold here too! ๐Ÿ™‚
