Mojo Monday 483

Well, my Sunday didn’t start off as planned, I woke up at 6:00am with a massive headache, I text Renee to tell her I would be late, took Excedrin and went back to bed. Thankfully when I finally woke up around noon it had gone. I had to make the dip for the Super Bowl Party so I went over to Heather’s and did that. We picked up Stephanie and drove out to Islip for the party. We had a great time and the people that hosted it were really nice! I got to spend some time with my peeps and I enjoyed the Half-Time Show! Today I have lots to catch up on at the Store. One day not being there isn’t a good thing! 😀

The one thing that I really like about Monday’s is the fact that it’s time for a new Mojo Monday sketch…

I had the flower for today’s card sitting on my desk so I decided that it needed to get used! For the card base I used a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and covered the front with a piece of Slate. To create my background I stamped the flower outline from the Altenew Beautiful Day Photopolymer Stamp Set in Evening Gray Crisp Ink onto a piece of Solar White 80lb. Next I heat embossed the leaf outline in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto another piece of Slate. Across the lower half of the card is a piece of American Crafts Silver Glitter Card. The flower and leaves are from the same set and are stamped in Blush, Rouge, Crimson, Velvet, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen Crisp Ink. I used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out and adhered them with E-Z Runner and 3D Foam Squares. My greeting is also from the Beautiful Day Set and is heat embossed in more White onto a piece of 48lb Vellum. I used a strip of Rose Chintz with a thin strip of the Silver Glitter Card and some more 3D Foam Squares to hold down the vellum. I love the way the grays really let the flower stand out on the card! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the BLOG and see the rest of the Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! 1. Wow! Justin, this is a beautiful card. I love the pink and gray combo with the silver bling and vellum. So, so pretty. Sorry about your headache. I hope you are feeling much better today. Take care, my friend.

    1. Thank you HJ! I love the colors, I don’t think that I have used them together much before! The headache went away and I was as good as new! 🙂

  2. Oh Justin:

I never would have guessed you made your own background with the Evening Grey ink. Maybe you should think about designing DSP for Bo Bunny or one of the other DSP companies. Of course your flower is just gorgeous! Now, how do you end up with flowers just sitting around all made waiting to be used? LOL I thought that was a pretty complicated sketch but you pulled it off beautifully!

You must have really had a wicked headache if after you took the meds and laid down you went back to sleep until noon! I hope they disappear soon. I had them until my late 40’s and then they just stopped. I couldn’t believe it but was very, very thankful for it. Sounds like you enjoyed your Superbowl party. A gathering with friends after a horrid start to the day makes things so much better. Have yourself a Marvelous Monday my friend. Love & Hugs to you, XXOO 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Grace! I actually LOVE to make my own backgrounds with stamps! You get so much more use out of them that way! I always stamp multiples when I’m doing layering stamps and using the MISTI!
I did have a killer headache but yes a little meds a some sleep was just what I needed. The party was great! Hope you are enjoying your week! Love and hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  3. Hi Justin,
Beautiful card! I’m amazed that the rose was just stamped in layers. At first glance, I thought you had colored it in with copics. These layered stamps have awesome results.
    Enjoy your day.
