Sweet Blackberry Birthday Wishes

What a nice Saturday I had! It rained for a little while in the morning but stopped by 10:00. I took a ride over to Jim’s to drop off some things and we ended up working on another project. This time we took two old wooden crates that he had in the garage and sanded the paint splatters off of them. We did a wash of a grey paint and then he had the genius idea of going over it with some black shoe polish to darken it up a bit! Here is what they looked like before we started…

And here is the finished product…

We just need to put legs on it and then it will be an end table for his den! I love the way the piece turned out! Who knew that refinishing furniture could be so much fun?! 😀

I was inspired by the color of the wood from yesterday’s project for today’s card! The background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I stamped the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain Background on in Black. It’s adhered to a card base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My images and greeting are from the Hero Arts Color Layering Ice Cream Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the cone in Soft Brown and Cup O joe and the ice cream in Passion Flower and Grape Juice. They are cut out with the Coordinating Frame Cuts. My greeting is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder onto a strip of 65lb Vellum and adhered behind the background. I added the cone and ice cream with 3D Foam Squares and a few Pretty Pink Posh Amethyst and Sand Sequins to finish the card! I love the fun gray woodgrain with the neat ice cream cone! I hope that you like today’s card and the end table! Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to! Have a simple Sunday! 🙂

  1. Wow Justin! Those crates look fantastic and with or without legs will make fantastic end tables for Jim’s den. Your learning a lot which will come in handy. Maybe you guys can remake a bunch of stuff and go to that Long Island flea market and sell them. Why not! Have fun making the stuff and make money from the result of the fun.

I love that you used the crates as inspiration for today’s card. Goes to show there are every day things all around us to inspire us with color, design or even just to get busy and make something. Love today’s card. Have yourself a Super Sunday my friend. Love and hugs to you. XXOO 🙂

    1. Thanks Grace! We really have a lot of fun with our little projects! How cool would it be for us to be on Flip or Flop! I’ll have to look into that!
